Pokemon capture as a job?

I remember someone talking about starting a fic based on the idea of someone capturing wild pokemon as a job for the labs etc. Does anyone remember what the fanfic was called or if it was posted here?
I always thought the idea was a good spin on the 'journey' story. (The character Nathan in my story Fable actually does capturing as a professional seasonal night job...)

Well, there was a very minor character in one of my 'fics who did that for a living, but I doubt that's what you're talking about.

I do think it would be a neat idea, though. It makes sense for a career, as the professors primarily don't get around looking for pokemon. There would probably be a market for breeders and suchlike, too, who would want rare pokemon or those who had been trained with special moves to add to their stock.

One of thes days I am going to write a capture-(er?) and breeder story.
I have seen breeder fics started before but somehow they always seem to turn into gym hopping

I've never heard of a fic based around that idea, though I must say, it'd be an interesting idea, however Crystal from the G/S/C PokeSpecial Manga is a "Professional Pokemon Capturer" or something along those lines, if that interest you. The main site has summaries and it's a fairly interesting adventure. Might be inspiration if you see through writing a capturer fic. Could be something to try to top? Gold is also a Breeder with a pivotal role in the manga.

Well, I'd rather actually read the manga than just a summary but thank you . Lots of ideas have been done in the manga before but I don't think that means they shouldn’t be done or need to be 'topped' to be a good fic idea
