ok....in real life animals eat animals yeh? some animals eat plants. so if a pokemon takes a bite out of...say...bulbasaur's plant...will it hurt? is the plant part of him or is it just atached on his back?
Um, the Pokemon mostly eat berries and manufactured food, such as any household pet would do. But it would definitely hurt for Bulbasaur to have a bite taken out of him (remember the Pokemon 2000 short where the Exeggcute bit his vine and he almost cried?). So they would eat berries and the food made for them. The wild Pokemon would eat just berries and leaves, though its possible one could mistake a Bulbasaur or Sunkern for plants and sink their teeth into them.
In my Sapphire game, Taillow's Pokedex entry states, "TAILLOW is young - it has only just left it's nest. As a result, it sometimes becomes lonesome and cries at night. This Pokemon feeds on WURMPLE that live in the forest".
So yes, it's safe to say that Pokemon prey on other Pokemon.
You could compare pokemon to their real-life counterparts and assume that the feeding habits are similar. Such as persain(lions) preying on tauros(cape buffalo).
The herbivores in the pokemon world wouldn't eat the plant pokemon since they constitute as animals and instead would feed on the real plants such as grasses and leaves. However, the predators of the pokemon world, such as pidgeotto, would feed on the plant pokemon, such as exeggecute.
Also *Homsar*, i think you mean their eggs are devoured by sneasel and ekans.
I don't think the question is "Do pokemon eat other pokemon?" but "Do herbivorous pokemon eat plant pokemon?". Like I said, the plant pokemon would constitute as animals and so the herbivores wouldn't eat them. They would eat the real plants. Imagine a girafarig taking a bite out of meganium.
The R/S/E Podex mentions Swellow praying on Wurmples. They're a species of animals. I think it's safe to assume that they do hunt and kill in the wild. I think it's also safe to assume that the Pokemon food chain was never ment to be scrutinized so deeply.
Sapphire's pokedex:
Althought GOREBYSS is very picture of elegance and beauty while swimming,it is also cruel. When it spots prey, this POKEMON inserts its thin mouth into the prey's body and drains the prey of its body fluids.
so we have all agreed that meat eating pokemon eat other pokemon but could a herbivor(dont no how to spell i apologise) only eat the plant part of a pokemon...and couldnt a caterpie therfore eat a bellsprout?
