Why is it in the list? Because in the commercial Tamanta is battling one.
Why in Diamond and Pearl? It's the Pokemon icon. It has to. xD

For all we know, these old Pokemon could have simply been used for the purposes of demonstration and might not actually be in the games.

All we can say for sure will be in the game is the revealed Pokemon and everything related to them via evolution or pre-evolution.

But why would they send out Golduck or Butterfree? Why wouldn't they just use 4th Generation Pokemon? Think of that..?
