Pokemon LEGENDS: Z-A - General Discussion/Speculation Thread

Man, I thought the Arceus battle was tough. This Zygarde battle is driving me absolutely nuts. I'm about to break my Switch. lol
If you have decently levelled up Pokemon with Draining Kiss, it helps with keeping your Pokemon healthy since Zygarde has a similar inflated HP bar as SV Raid Pokemon. Getting all the Green Canari Plushes (you do not need to find all the Colourful Screws, there will be 23 left to find once you get all the bonus effects) helps with “Trainer health”.

Other than that it is a matter of observing Zygarde’s attacks and knowing how to dodge them (only needed one try).

You know as much as we’re talking about the Arceus battle in Legends Arceus, and the final Zygardw battle in Legends Z-A, could you imagine if we get a Hoopa battle in the Mega Dimension DLC where you thought Arceus and Zygarde were hard and then Hoopa says hold my beer. XD :p

I do suspect will be such a battle. Whether its Hoopa or something else (though Hoopa does seem plausible). It makes sense to want to encourage people to keep playing and building up a major challenge and considering hyperspace lumiose seems to allow insanely high levels and may be limited timewise it could be very challenging if they want to go that way.

If your having trouble with it using Core Enforcer trying staying near the walls and then once Zygarde’s move lands run to the opposite side of the field as there is a very small patch of the battlefield that isn’t hit.

That is being generous compared to what happens if you let Arceus finish’s charging a very specific move because if it gets said move off your screwed as it will instantly ko you regardless of where you are.

I'm usually pretty lucky with the Core Enforcer. It's that Earthquake-like move that always gets me.

My Pokémon's health isn't the problem, but my own, and I've already maxed out my health.

The good news is my Xerneas is so strong it takes out the first two forms in under two minutes, and half of Complete Zygarde's health before the first charge attack. My hope is after I level up Xerneas to Lv. 100, I'll be able to take out Complete Zygarde entirely before the first charge.

Seems I might end up reachign Red/Cynthia lv 88.

Now I have my main Team at lv 87 with most of my secondary squad (Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie and Raichu at lv 86). Absol is like 86 and Male Meowstic at lv 80. Just completed invinite Royale 15th battle and got AZ Floette. I will wait till Tuesday, 2.12 as I have a gut feeling this is the momement Mewtwo Stones and quest will be distributed. I want to level up Mewtwo and AZ Floette also to lv above 80, mainly by at least reaching the 20 battles and doing Jacinthe sidequest.

In case I will need lv 100 for the DLC I have a to of Rare Candy and XP candy but don't want to use it for now.

Heh, Zygarde Battle is light work if you have 50+ Max Potions *Diabolical laughing*
Also Avalugg + Xerneas + Mega Feraligatr

For me the hardest thing about the Zygarde fight was keeping the player character alive rather than the Pokémon. From some of its moves if you don't avoid damage can wipe them out quickly (even with all plushes) . It was thanks to rolling at the right time I managed to beat it. The actual battle element it's fairly easy to put a team together with Fairy, Dragon and Ice types to hit it hard.

Yeah, I agree. The end phase Land's Wrath got me so many times until I figured out to hide in the corner and dash to negate the damage.

Mega Lucario Z... I'll be damned, they actually made me like a Lucario design (except that tail).

The name bothers me, though. One being just Mega while the other having a letter attached... although, judging from the website info, Z Mega are a whole new thing, so it's less a "X vs. Y" kind of thing:
Mega Evolutions such as Mega Lucario Z need less time to fire off moves after receiving an order. But Z Mega Evolutions also burn through Mega Power very quickly, making them less suited for long battles, so try to settle matches as fast as possible!
Gotta wonder how this will translate to the regular turn-based games. Z Mega will have a turn limit, like Dyna/Giga?

Having said that... urgh, my interest in Pokémon plummeted so hard with Z-A and the DLC is doing nothing to convince me to play this game.

I suppose it would also be a bit odd to rename regular mega Lucario as Mega Lucario X or Mega Lucario Y and pairing it with a Z when the Z-forms have completely different mechanics. As for how it will translate I was wondering that earlier and your idea of a turn limit is the best I've seen so far but it's really hard to know. Suppose it taking on traits of Dynamax would be a bit like Zygarde getting Nihil Light (which is similar to Z-moves).

Doesn't Lebanne remind anyone of "Miss Koboyashi's Dragon Maid? Well, it's not really a reference, but it was brought up since she's a 'maid' who used 'Dragon' type Pokemon.

Man, there's gotta be something worthwhile in this DLC. Something new to explore, new modes, new features (other than that cursed doughnut game).

At the very least, give us some new clothes.

I did have that thought. Though it's not an anime I know well enough to judge. Apparently it also inspired the Dragonmaid deck in Yu Gi Oh so it wouldn't shock me if Pokemon also used it as a partial inspiration. She's certainly one of my favourite dragon specialists and considering she's also the reason Ivor started training so much (she beat him in a fight when they were younger ) she has definitely had an impact and she's memorable.

I have a mystery:
Mid game, we meet L, the mysterious man who randomly spawns in on you to say cryptic things. Later, the npcs connect the dots that this guy is Lysandre. (I mean, I already did the second I met the guy.) The thing is, why does Lysandre not remember his past? Why does he still have his old team? Why does he call himself L? Biggest question of all: Why does he allude to having 3000 years of life ahead of him from his dialogue? Did AZ pass the torch once Lysandre activates the ultimate weapon? I WANT ANSWERS.

1. Lysandre suffered amnesia due to using the ultimate weapon. He still was the same person: wanted to make Kalos better but wasn’t corrupted by a vision of too many people.
2. As far as the team, he probably still had those Poké balls on him when he was rescued by Zygarde.
3. He and AZ go by those names as a way to distance themselves from their past. (He regains a bunch of memories while the player is going through the Lysandre Labs)
4. He states that he has 3000 years left because the only other person to fire the ultimate weapon (AZ) had to live another 3000 years. He knows this is his fate.

The only one of those questions not answered in the game is why he has the same team. But it can be easily inferred.

Technically L does not have the exact same team in Z-A that Lysandre does in XY

Lysandre- Mienshao, Honchkrow, Pyroar, and Gyarados
L- Pyroar, Florges, Sableye, Garbodor, Noivern and Gyarados

Basically only Gyarados and Pyroar are on both. Out of universe the reason is that Mienshao and Honchkrow are not in the Z-A pokedex so they gave him Pokemon that were in. As for why he stops using them in-universe.....he simply wanted to battle us with Pokemon he could find in lumiose as he felt that was fair (just a guess) and had the other two in his box.

I personally think it is more of an assumption on Lysandre's part, given that AZ is his only frame of reference. Given that the conditions of both uses of the Ultimate Weapon were quite different(exact number of sacrifices, and the inclusion of draining Xerneas/Yveltal's energy even if not fully completed the second time, and that the weapon wasn't properly fired either), I don't think Lysandre(or anyone else for the matter) really fully knows how it will affect him. It is also worth noting that Eternal Floette is still alive, although that was a deliberate resurrection and not a side-effect of firing the weapon.
