Pokemon LEGENDS: Z-A - General Discussion/Speculation Thread

It's worse now. If any of the pre-BW Pokemon games are rereleased now they would have to get the PEGI rating of 18 (which is the highest rating over there) as they made their regulations on gambling in video games even stricter since they released the VC versions of Gens 1 and 2. Their standards on gambling are so strict now that GOTY nominee Balatro was rated 18 over there purely for containing poker-related imagery and terminology.
That would explain the Blackjack game from Super Mario RPG being replaced with a matching game in the Switch Remake and the Slot block completely free to play.

Pokemon Twitter Japan has just pinned Legends Z-A's original announcement/reveal post

Two new japanese tcg sets releasing possibly in the summer had their trademarks filed: Mega Brave, And Mega Symphony. These might be tie-in tcg sets for Legenda Z-A, So the game might release this summer.

Some folks are saying that Amazon UK accidentally listed Legends Z-A for august 15th before changing it back to the placeholder date.

Unless we're getting another mainline game coming out in the Holiday season I'm not expecting a summer release for Legends ZA. I can't see them skipping the Holiday season three years in a row.

Thing is, PLA released January the same year SV released in November.

Even though it had most of the year to itself, it still had a pretty short support life especially by the time of marketing for SV.

I do not see, at least in terms of gen 10, another game being marketed for release the same year they'll be marketing PLZA. Because GF would not be going back and forth going "New Pokemon/Forms for PLZA" and then "New Pokemon/Forms" gen 10.

So if there is another game, it'd most likely be a remake/port of a spinoff.

PLZA is going to be marketed this year and August could be a possibility for the sake of no winter release for 2024, a not so very half way marker for releasing a game. To add as well, to release a game a couple months after PLZA would kill sales.

However we'll have to see.

Z-A is likely coming out around June based on the timing of the TCG sets being released for it. There is still room for a new main series game to show up for November 2025.

Which I don't think. I think 2025 will have just ZA, and I believe it will most likely drop in November. I can't see ZA being released outside the Holiday season unless Gen 10 is being rushed out the door for Holiday 2025, which is something I fear Nintendo will do as a way to beef up the Switch 2's launch lineup to ensure massive launch sales.

I also feel like ZA will be the must have big name Holiday Switch game this year. Gen 10 will come out next year for the 30th anniversary as it is a major milestone and GF are sure to make sure there is a huge celebration for the entire year and have new mainline entries to end the anniversary year with a huge bang.

Yes please June release for this while something like BW remakes for November. I need a game that actually captures my interest since it's been a while since SV came out and tbh the legends series isn't it.

If anything else is actually announced for this year, I think it will be a remake for gen 5.

Eh, GameFreak might throw a wild curveball at us and do something totally different, maybe proper remakes of X and Y to accompany Legends Z-A? A guy can dream... Unova can wait a generation, I want to see Johto get more love first. HGSS deserves a 3D upgrade.

It's hard to predict as legends ZA was a bit of a curveball. Any of these regions getting a rework could be fun if done right. I can't even rule out a Platinum ILCA remake (which would be easier as they can re-use a lot of the assets from BDSP and then just fix a few of the issues and add the platinum stuff). Even if I also admit I don't think that would be the most popular option.

If ILCA is going to continue doing Pokémon games, I would rather Gamefreak give them the Let's Go series. I think BSDP would have been better received if they were in that series since fans of those games could still hold out hope for proper remakes.

Indeed. It's basically uncharted waters with Pokemon works. Their first project will clarify direction at least.

Hard to be certain. While I did enjoy the let's go games there's also a possibility that might have been even less well received tbh as people were mixed on the lets go games mechanics even at the time and considering how much had been built up on a proper remake that anything but might have caused more backlash. Ultimately its all guesswork though.

Trying to think of which Pokémon would make sense as the cover cards for the TCG set to see if that might give a hint on something getting special treatment in these games but I can't think of what would make sense for "Mega Brave" and "Mega Symphonia". But the best I could come up with something like Keldeo for brave and Meloetta for Symphonia but given those are Unova mythicals that seems unlikely. Symphonia is quite a hard one.

Zeroara
for Mega Brave and Mega
Zygarde
for Mega Symphonia.

Mega Lopunny and Mega Abomasnow haven't been made into actual cards yet.

As for the title, Z obviously refers to Zygarde, and as for A, I'm not entirely sure, but Avalugg comes to mind.
