Pokemon LEGENDS: Z-A - Recent Happenings Thread

Master of Chaos!
Got to the final scan point with the shiny legendary (Latios) and I've heard of a REALLY fast way to trigger spawns. Long as the luck isn't as bad as it was with Latias (Around 3 days) That should be the last of the shiny legendaries for now. (Wanting moar of those but it's still what we should have gotten in SV's DLC.)

Added Froslass and Eevee to my random shinies list while surveying Hyperspace Lumiose. Groudon and Kyogre were not too difficult though you do have to account for Groudon's type change when it undergoes Primal Reversion (since Desolate Land is in play unless it is stunned). Now to get the points to face Rayquaza, still need the Wild Zones for Dondozo, Flamigo and Kecleon (everything else bar Grumpig is locked to 5-star ones) and Curly and Stretchy Tastugiri for a quest.

Be careful when trying to catch the Tatsugiri forms as they pretty skittish, as they tend to run away and disappear pretty quickly instead of trying to fight you unless the Tatsugiri is a alpha.

A shiny Alpha is on my list 'ere. Soon as I get the extra small Ceruledge. Then there's Galarian Farfetch'd. After that I'll be done shiny hunting for this game.

Just barely defeated Mega Barbaracle but i had to heal Lucario a lot and use Feraligatr and Excadrill as backup. I did not expect Barbaracle to spam pre-evolution Barnacle as minions on the field. It throws off the aim away from the boss. I hate this ZL targeting system.

Got the Wild Zones for Kecleon and Dondozo (and by extension the other two Tatsugiri forms), Flamigo is now the Pokemon I am missing that is not exclusive to 5-star distortions or can be obtained by evolution. Took a few tries to defeat Rayquaza (not being able to save previous progress is brutal) which I caught in a Friend Ball. Knocked out the side-quests for the Mega Stones for the Lati twins and to get Magearna, now getting the last few points to use my first scan.

If you mean summoning the small Barnacle, they get launched into the field as if they were Stealth Rocks then yes. They respawn and attack you.
It resets targets. Mega Barbaracle Is also really really quick at getting close to the player.

So I'd like to do another playthrough of Legends: Z-A, but I really don't wanna go through that tutorial again.

Does anyone have any tips on how to speed through that god-awful thing?

My first 5-star scan was a Wild Zone for the Frigibax line so caught the full line along with H-Sliggoo and Goodra. Used a donut with an Item Power: Special power on another 5-star Wild Zone which got me the item needed to get Amarogue. Got down the annoying evolution requirement for G-Yamask and caught a second shiny Magikarp (which I evolved into Gyarados).

Honestly just ignore everything that you don't have to do until your done with it. I have three files two on an account (We have an OLED and Original Switch) Then one with no account attached I use purely for replaying games.

So far I’ve defeated Mega Absol Z and did the Mega Dimension side quest that involves the Cherished Ring.

I thought it was fine. But you can't speed it up because of the game design. And you don't get any running button during the tutorial.
I dont think Pokemon will ever giving real skipping options.

Well, if Beast of Reincarnation is a success, Game Freak can finally let someone else develop Pokémon games, and we won't have to worry about it anymore.

Was lucky with the rolling of the Wild Zones and 5-star scans, finally getting Flamigo along with Latios, Meloetta and Rotom. Did a trade evolution to get Milotic, the sole trade evolution that cannot appear in Hyperspace Wild Zones. Participated in Ranked Battles to get the Beast Ball that I intend to use on Zeraora.

Took a while and I did something oddly hilarious (Ended up not paying attention and benched when I had a hyper space zone I'm looking for AND THEN had to spam bench until I did.)

But I finally caught the last shiny I needed to hunt in this game. Galarian Stunfisk!

Only pokemon I'm wanting to nab now is a Salpha Porygon-Z (Which will also complete the dlc pokedex.)

Almost completed the Hyperspace Pokedex with the only Swords of Justice, Zeraora and Gholdengo (still waiting for the Home update before I evolve the one from the quest) to go. Shame Latias appeared before Keldeo as I would have liked to shiny hunt her. On a more positive note caught my first shiny Alpha, a Kangaskhan from Wild Zone 19. Some of the other shinies I caught recently were H-Qwilfish, Frigibax, Kirlia and an Alpha Litleo.

A word of warning once you evolve the Gimmighoul you got from the side mission into Gholdengo if you go back and show the guy the Gholdengo he will asked for it back.

And if you pick the first option which is “ Yes, you can have it” you will wind up giving it to him permanently

However if you pick the second option which is “ Wait, wait-what?” it will allow you to keep your Gholdengo

Happy New Year! In the spirit of new beginnings I decided to restart Z-A - I actually reset everything back in November but then never got around to playing it again, so here we are.

I'm taking things much slower this time, rather than neglecting the side missions and focusing predominantly on the main story. The side missions have been fun especially as I'm completing all the available ones before progressing the story - it actually feels like I'm engaging with the people of Lumiose somewhat, and the tasks are cute! Things like showing the girl an Ekans that she fawns over, battling Audino whose trainer is burnt out, the Budew competition... it's all quite charming I think! Plus it keeps me at the right level for them so I can at least pretend I'm getting somewhat of a challenge.

I've been taking photos of things that interest me as well like the paintings in Hotel Z, panoramic views of Lumiose Tower and pictures with each team member in cafes as well as in spots thematic to them! For example I've been taking pictures of Froakie/Frogadier at Bleu Plaza as that ends up becoming Wild Zone 16, where you can catch Froakie. Chikorita/Bayleef have been having their photos at Hotel Z as that's our origin point, and I'm actually struggling to find a good spot for Fennekin/Braixen! I can't even remember where I took their photos... Regardless, it's encouraged me to engage with the trainer customisation too which has been fun, not that I needed much of an excuse for that. I bought my trainer new clothes pretty much as soon as I could and they look a lot more like me now, if I had coloured hair and funky eyes! I need to update my hair actually now I've completed the Flabebe mission...

I've also spent most of my time just running around the map looking for cafes to take my Pokemon to in case I can snap a nice photo of them - maybe I'll post them here when I've beaten the game! I do find that the camera when you're at the cafes is pretty atrocious though, as I can never get my character properly in the photo with the Pokemon? I've been mainly visiting the Nouveau Cafe trucks as they seem to be the best options for that. It makes me feel like I'm bonding with my team, which satisfies the RP itch I have when I play these games. I like imagining why each team member joined my squad and what they might be like personality wise, even if I don't actively roleplay any of it.

In terms of actual progress made, I'm about 6 hours in and have reached Rank X, having beaten Yvon rather easily and then going on to body Naveen to learn his tragic backstory. I do feel bad for him, Lida really shouldn't have forced him to open up. I chose Chikorita this time rather than Tepig as I recently discovered Emboar has no neck and it looks like it's wearing a tube top, which has put me off the species entirely. This also seems like a good game for Meganium to do well in, and so far? That has held up - it soloed Zach to help me get to Rank Y, it has a Fairy move that made catching Sableye in the side mission a lot easier, and STAB Giga Drain at Level 16 is nuts! I then added Froakie and Fennekin to my team - both did amazingly the last time I played, form a nice Fire/Water/Grass core with Bayleef and they have snazzy Mega Evolutions I can use! Frogadier's movepool has been wonderful to explore and Braixen hits really hard with Psyshock, so it's great.
