Pokemon LEGENDS: Z-A - Recent Happenings Thread

End-game spoilers

After my promotion to Rank A things got really crazy with Prism Tower creating a horde of Rogue Megas (fortunately not as nasty as the ones faced throughout the story). The final battle against Hyperouge Ange Floette was particularly awesome, HP draining moves are a godsend due to the inflated HP of the two flowers. Sad to see AZ pass away though, now have a new Wild Zone and the post-game to check out.

Man, Mega Greninja is wild in battle. It attacks so quickly, the opponent doesn't have a chance to bounce back.

I finally got to 999/1000 battles complete and had a challenger ticket to spare. So got to 1000 in a battle with Lida which is a fun way to get the shiny charm. Then came the final missions beating L and then the final match with Zygarde. Managed to do it but it was a tough one, mainly keeping the player character alive at during the 3rd stage but succeeded and caught Zygarde in a friend ball which seemed appropriate. As I left I encountered a shiny Roserade and caught that as well and finished it off by catching an Alpha Froakie (though I had already completed the pokedex I figured best to get one for when home is compatible). Probably do a bit of shiny hunting but the main thing left is to get the Kalos starter mega stones. Also just caught a shiny Binacle.

Got the points for the Challenge’s Ticket for the first opponent in the Infinite Z-A Royale which turned out to be Zach. Quite hilarious his team barely change in levels since you first fought him. Got called back to Hotel Z where L cryptically dropped information on what is presumably Kalos’ box Legendaries arriving at Lumiose. Also working on filling the Pokedex, it sucks hard Skarmory only spawns either at the area with the “lion pride from hell” or as a random Alpha in Wild Zone 20. May end up resigning transferring one from Violet (once you can transfer stuff to Z-A) just so Repeat Balls get the boost (if we end up with a similar Dex reward on Home).

Just some friendly advice on how to catch Skarmory in Wild Zone 20 if you visit there at night then all the Pyroar will be asleep and there is also a ladder leading up to the roof of the building that the Skarmory will fly close to.

Alternatively there is always the strategy of knocking out all the Pyroar although I don’t know how easy that will be for you as it would basically depend on the level of the Pokémon your using and what the Pokémon your using are.

So I entered Racine Construction and had to battle Tarragon first and he said he would tell me a secret if I defeated him. I did and he revealed that he is Canari's grandfather and that he was actually taking her place as the hologram! I hope nobody tells him about AI! Canari was streaming and she has a really cool setup. She finished her stream and then came out and battled me. Not gonna lie, I didn't know what to expect from her. It was a was decent challenge but I defeated her.

I then went back to Hotel Z for some sleep and the next morning Vinnie called us and told us about another trio of Pokémon that are at risk of falling to Rogue Mega Evolution. We then went to the strategy room and made a plan. A few more wild zones opened up so I then went to complete those. I finally caught my Bergmite and it joined the team! I then went and did another 10 side quests, so the first 40 are done so far!

I levelled up Bergmite and then evolved it into an Avalugg. It looks awesome and is actually pretty strong! My Binacle also evolved and I now have a Barbaracle too. My team is finally complete! They are all around level 41-42. The only thing I need now is the Mega Stone for Barbaracle which I know I'll have to wait a little longer for that. I'm still having fun with the game though...and still taking my time with it.

After resetting for and successfully catching an Alpha Skarmory at Wild Zone 20, the game decided to gift me my fifth non-guaranteed shiny, a Roserade. Funnily enough, it is of the opposite gender to my Legends: Arceus shiny Roserade (albeit the one from Arceus was caught as a Roselia). Also took two Eevee a few trips to cafes so I can get their friendship up to evolve them into Espeon and Umbreon, weird no major trainers uses any of the Eeveelutions.

Just hunted down a female shiny Snorunt over in the snowy area (After god knows how many Snovers I don't want, a Delibird, a couple of male Snorunts and a female Machop) IV's are pretty dog water so it's off to the Battle Royal until they cough off the bottle caps I need. Then I get to test out one of the most imposing megas in the games line up.

Since the last update I've caught multiple shiny Pokemon. 2 Shiny Magikarp, a shiny staryu, a shiny Arbok, a shiny patrat, Trubbish, another Fletchling (Alpha this time), a shiny Litleo, a Shiny Handour, a shiny stunfisk, Shiny Snover and a shiny Pidgey. Shiny charm is very effective. Trubbish was particularly hard to find as it was outside a wild area while I was in one so I was checking all the attacking Pokemon before I realised. Also traded in for the final canari plush. Found out there's an additional task to find all the remaining screws and apparently I still have around 20 to find.

While finding Colourful Screws for the last Canari Plush caught my sixth (not including the Mareep from the quest) shiny, a Pansage. Still have around 23 screws left after getting the last one but in no rush to get them all since the reward is merely cosmetic. Tidied up my boxes and released the Pokemon that I did not need, going to tackle a few more sidequests before I deal with the story ones for Kalos’ Legendary Pokemon.

Just finished Mega Ampharos. He was easy but much higher level than i thought (Level 48) Meaning my Mega Gardevoir took a while to defeat Ampharos.
Getting plenty of my pokemon to level 50+ from now on is going to be a real pain in this game. It is so SLOW.

Got the Delphoxite from ranked battles. Not too bad as you only have to get to S rank now.

It is. You start at Z again but only have to get to S and apparently you won't lose points anymore.
No losing points ? and just a S rank which means 8 ranks to go through ? OH YES.

That is insanely better than last time. Losing points to rank up to K for a Greninja was really punishing.

Just finished it after 3 battles. I also noticed that they added a Mystery Gift Diancie + Diancite But the quest is locked until the post game.

Caught Xerneas and Yveltal, looking at Serebii’s Pokedex they still have a buffed catch rate since they are part of story missions. Going to hold off starting the final story mission until I level up my Pokemon more. Also got the Diancite from Mystery Gift for Diancie’s mission, it was very stubborn before a Timer Ball sealed the deal.

Just caught Zygarde. Between the two I’d say Arceus was the tougher fight. That battle took me two hours where with Zygarde I beat it after two tries.

Does it teleport a lot or is it slightly more aggressive? I'm also worried if i should save a Master Ball for it or Diancie when you unlock her mission ?
If anyone has done it is Diancie locked until after Zygarde ?

Timer Balls have terrible luck for me so i am not using them ever again. Shadow Rider Calyrex literally stonewalled me after many rounds of paralysis and he is too hard keep under sleep conditions so he ruined the timer ball reputation for me. I also always use a master ball on Zacian to skip that fight.

Spoiler details for the fight
The biggest thing with this fight is that some of the attacks in the final stage deal massive damage to the player if you don't avoid them and can easily knock you out very suddenly. Definitely worth getting all the canari plushes. The upside is that once you defeat it you can choose whatever Pokeball you want (I used a Friend ball on it) and it will always work. Probably not worth wasting a master ball unless you really want it in a master ball. The Diancie battle is quite easy but catching it is harder (though I managed to pull it off with a heal ball so its doable without a master ball)
