Ewww, yuck. Anyone who makes anime into a live-action movie should be shot multiple times. It just wouldn't go with the feel of the storyline. Not to mention computer-animating all those Pokemon to make em look real...yikes.

However, a Pixaresque CGI Pokemon film would be neat.

Never!
That would be awful, all your favorite characters would look bad! The pokemon would look like cardboard sheets next to them! NAY

The magic of Pokemon
It would only work under the following conditions:

--The actors would look similar to the animated counterparts
--The Pokemon would be CGI (or plushies that came alive)

@FlamingRuby: And in order for that to happen, we need to breed a female Tauros with a male Kangaskhan. In other words, neither of those will happen most likely.

It would be awesome if they came up with a new storyline (and characters) that would actually make it worth watching. CGI Pokemon would ROCK!

Another possibility would be a hybrid live action/animated movie: Pokemon stay animated, live actors for Ash and co.

That'd be one hell of a lot of work to render Pikachu to look photorealistic. And Pika's one of the more simply designed Pokemon...

Nope I dont think it would be good. Maybe if it were with kids but if it was with like older peopole it would look bad.

Actually, the technology to render animations so the look nearly completely real-life exists, and a couple more years will totally perfect it, so this idea isn't as impossible as it seems.

Well, if they were to swich the entire Pokemon show to CGI, unlike the case by case basis they are doing with the Battle Frontier saga, they better do it in Cel-Shaded. Cel Shading allows them to still have a cartoony look, while still being computer generated. A perfect example is the new Zatch Bell game for the PS2.

Perfect for an Anime show turned game right? I just wish that Pokemon XD would be Cel Shaded, perhaps every non GB Pokemon game should have been cel shaded.

Yes I agree with Dimitar. I was waiting for people to reply to post my opinion, and the fact is, they need to come up with technology that will make it very simple to 3-d animate tons of Pokemon that are all just about as realistic-looking as Golem from LOR.

*points to Pokemon Live* That's what happens when they try to do live-action Pokemon. IT DOESN'T WORK. I always hate it when people make live-action versions of anything animated, really. It just doesn't feel right. :/

Computer Animation is perfectly capable of making realistic creatures on screen now, the only reason anyone would complain is if "Mewtwo is the wrong shade of purple" or "Pikachu's tail isn't long enough". You've only got to look at 'Lord of the Rings' or 'King Kong' to see that. Hell 'Walking with Dinosaurs' managed it well enough and that's atleast 5 years old.

If a pokemon movie were made live action then it would best be set with characters unrelated to the games/anime so people can't whinge and cry over "lance's hair isn't spikey enough" or "Surge is a Leiutenant not a General!"

There is a difference between a film cast with proper actors and computer generated imagery, and a bunch of nobodies dressed in oversized foam costumes trying to entertain a bunch of sugar fueled ten year olds.

Nay... All live action movies have sucked. It would only work if I was cast as the main character and some really good CGI artists to make the Pokémon work.

I myself can not think of a successful VG/anime->live action transition. Resident Evil? Sucked. Doom? Sucked. Street Fighter? Sucked. Especially considering the two main characters of the games (Ryu and Ken) were reduced to bumbling secondary characters to make the plot all about Guile. Of all characters... Apparently a Neon Genesis Evangelion live action movie has been in the works. Can you imagine how much it would suck? I can...

Really and truly
Dan has some pretty good points.

Just look at Star Wars and what they were able to do. If they could make those aliens, they can certainly make Pokémon look real!

And are you people kidding? Using Ash and Co? No way. It would have to be totally new, made up characters just for the movie.
OR It could be about the Pokémon themselves. That would be something new and interesting.

I'm sure they could do very well with a real live movie. With good actors and animation artists it could be done quite well. I'd love to see one especially one that isn't happy-go-lucky. We want PG 13, at least! (Well, I do, anyway.)
