Ugly... Soz but holy heck is this game just... The worst. Either match the pokemon models to the stylized maps or don't have stylized maps

Edit: I would just like to add that I LOVE the mystery dungeon series... With exceptions but WHY DO THIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS BAD BAD GRAPHIC DESIGN UGLY

This series stinks

Take that back. Right now.

I’m thrilled to have something at least somewhat new for Mystery Dungeon. Red Rescue Team is my favorite out of the series as my first game, so I’m very happy to have a remake. It’s great that Mega Evolution will be in the game since it’s one of my favorite things in Pokémon. Since this is a remake, I hope every Pokémon will be included.

Not rushing to pre-order just yet, but as a fan of PMD I am curious. Although I would have preferred a totally new entry and I don't love that the list of Pokemon the player can be transformed into is just as limited as it was in the original.

I can't express how psyched I am for this. MYSTERY DUNGEON ISN'T DEAD!

It's little sad that's it's not a full new game, but I'll take it anyways. Don't really like the art style much at all, but I can live it. A little weary that Lucario is the only post-Gen III Pokémon they showed, but I'll hold out hope that they're just waiting to surprise us.

Also, this opens the door for an Explorers DX, which would be absolutely amazing. Hopefully, since it's just remakes, they can also give us that this generation.

EDIT: In case people didn't know, the demo is now out on the E-Shop. Unfortunately, I have no time to play it right now.

Someone posted an image of seeing Togekiss in the game. Post-Gen 3 evolutions/preevolutions in general seem like they will be in there, at least.

There also seems to be more story-related components, as shown by the greater amount of icons on the main menu compared to the original. There were like 12 in the original, and now there are 18:

As much as I love the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, I'm not particularly excited about this remake. I think that the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games were arguably the worst of the series, so getting an updated version of them isn't very intriguing even with the addition of Mega Evolution.

I can honestly say without a doubt, I will be at Game Stop at 10 am upon release.

Alright, just finished the demo. There's really not too much to say other than it's Mystery Dungeon (which is a compliment). I still find the art style ugly, and the lack of newer Pokémon is extremely saddening, but everything else is exactly what you would expect. Can't wait for the full game.

I'm going to hold out a sliver of hope that once the full game releases, we'll be able to see Pokémon from all generations, and they just hid them in the demo. Probably not, but I'll hope.

If I remember correctly, there were bosses that didn't appear on the main menu, so I'm going to guess they just added those. Don't remember how many of those there were though, so who knows if it lines up properly or not.

The changes they've made aside from the obvious Gen 8 movepool/TM adjustments seem good so far, though I feel like they might end up making things a bit too easy.

You can change your controlled Pokemon from the get-go now as opposed to only in the post-game.

The rare trait system that's replaced the IQ system offers much of the same benefits (Including some of the "broken" skills like Absolute Mover) but with less of a grind as Pokemon can either come with them or learn them from using gummis (Which only seem to come in rainbow/DX varieties now, with the latter guaranteeing a trait). They also affect the entire party so no more needing to swap Pokemon if you need to make use of a specific skill.

The Dojo training courses are a nice way to get new recruits up to speed.

I also noticed the mission rewards are a lot better as I was already getting stat boosting items like Life Seeds from them.

I'm still kinda on the fence about the game if there isn't much in the way of genuinely new content, though.

I was gonna say that too.

In all seriousness though, I won't blame people for disliking the first games. But I played this game just as much as Explorers of Sky and reset it just as many times like EoS, in other words I played both games for hours, inluding trying to go through the 99F dungeons and only managing to do so in Red Rescue. I loved the post-gane stuff for both games. For Rescue, I loved the Gengar mission for back story, the search for Ho-oh using the Rainbow Wing for feeling like the search for treasure and saving Latios for Latias. For EoS, well...it's basically just two other post-game plots, Darkrai and Manaphy, but still, loved them.

So I'm personally glad it's being remade.

Plus REMIXED MUSIC. Maybe. Probably. Hopefully.

I'm very happy about Mega Evolution being added. I hope all the Pokémon get added to, even if it's just post-game stuff. But there was a Lucario shown in the trailer, so at the very least we'll get up to Gen 4.

Also did anyone else notice having a tean of more than four? I thought I was imagining things at first but there was indeed the green circle surrounding the Trapinch, Paras and Spinarak following the Pikachu and Bulbasaur. Unless it's an escort mission, but I guess we won't find out yet.

-sees people disliking the art style-

I actually nearly teared up when I saw the art style. Yeah, it would be awesome if it was at least matched, either with the models matching the maps or the other way around, but I just loved the style they picked made me think of old maps and aged hand drawn graphics, in other words, it made me think of Mystery Dungeon. But I've always been a sucker for things looking hand drawn and 2D in general so I'm biased.

EDIT: Oh, now I just remembered what it reminds me of. It reminds me of the art for Winnie the Pooh in the books.

Also I'm looking forward to how the Friend Areas look if they decide to keep them instead of what EoS did.

YES. But I never really minded before since I would stick with my "starter" and partner until post-game anyway. Still, a nice touch if you want to train other teammates without making your "main team" overlevelled for the main story.

Oh my gosh, yes. Those were always such a hassle. Another thing I hope they do just like EoS as opposed to Rescue Team is that when you recruit a Pokémon and they somehow get beaten, you'll still recruited instead of being lost forever. And also instant recruiting of Legendaries after going through the dungeon a second time because getting Mewtwo, the Regis and Lugia are a real pain what with their 99F dungeons.

I mostly did the dojo for completion's sake, and trained my teammates by bringing them with me.

But woah, really? That would be handy. Especially for farming Reviver Seeds. And Escape Orbs.

Well I'll probably get it eventually anyway, though I agree with you. It would be great if there was more post-game content. Or, even better, Special Episodes like in EoS. I really loved those since you were forced to a specific team because of the fact that it's from other perspectives.

I played so much of this game and Explorers as well, can't remember how many times I restarted. During a number of playthoughs, I made Kyogre level 100 using Joy Seeds I got by putting codes into Wonder Mail. Don't know why I did that back then, other than being crazy about Kyogre (still am). 99F dungeons were brutal, especially the ones that make you level 1. I remember getting through the entire story-related dungeons like Buried Relic and Silver Trench, but I don't think I was ever able to get through others. All the post game extras were great.

I am so excited for remixed music!!! I always find myself listening to Mystery Dungeon OSTs and remixes from time to time. Not sure what it is about them that makes me enjoy listening to them so much. Very much looking forward to DX's.

I read that you can add Pokemon you encounter as you get through dungeons, being able to have up to eight teammates. But when you leave for a dungeon, you start off with three or four members (not exactly sure about this part).

I'm okay with the storybook art style, although I'm noticing how the PMD series has been developing to be more child-oriented in each new entry. Not necessarily a bad thing in terms of the visuals, but certain gameplay elements have changed to feel much easier than they were before. Friend Areas were really cool with their own music and settings, and I'd prefer not to have them limited to just Rescue Team.

No new Pokémon made me slightly dissapointed. But I hope it does well so we can get a new entry with the Kalos starters getting another game and the Alola/Galar ones having their chance.

They should have had "Coming to the Rescue" as the subtitle rather than Rescue Team DX.

That's the title I'd like for an animated adaptation of the game from Warner Animation Group.

I honestly would've preferred these remakes if they included Pokemon from the newer generations, not just the original Gen 1 through III roster and some Mega Evolutions. At the moment, I'm unsure whether I'll purchase this remake.

This. They should have remade the game with the small change that ALL currently released pokemon are included in it. If that was the case, I would have bought a switch just to play this. But right now, I am doubtful.

I'm a big enough Mystery Dungeon fan that I'll buy and love the game regardless, but I'm definitely afraid of how 1-to-1 this game will end up. Rescue Team needs a lot of work done on it to even be brought up to date with Explorers, let alone Super. The more 1-to-1 the remake is, the worse the game will be. I'm honestly questioning why not add more Pokémon. Even if it's not all of them, a wide selection of Gen IV-VIII Pokémon would be nice, especially for the Gen VII and VIII Pokémon that have never been in a Mystery Dungeon game.
