Pokemon Natures

Ok I am a bit confused on the main site when it says Benefical Nature that means a nature that helps that state correct? So my Latias has a Mild nature and should boost its special attack and lower defense but in the end at lvl 100 he only hit Special attack of 316 which is a neutral nature max. I gave her all the vitimin things calium, iron and so forth all of them. So when they mean max do they mean max EV's as well? My pokemon no matter how hard I try never get near what the main site says. Also my Charizard has a Modest nature but the way he is going up only hits around 285 or around there. Also do natures effect majorly on higher level pokemon or effect there states right from lvl 5? As my Charizard being a modest nature should lower my attack but my brothers Charizard has a Mild nature and we had the exact same attack power 172 at lvl 81 each. See mine should of been lower? Maybe I am just looking to into it as my guys never reach near that max nature states on the main site ever its always around neutral nature it seems.

1 more thing you know how gyms say this will boost your pokemons attack power when you win or something whats up with that? Maybe with the pokemon EV's in the gym made your attack go higher or something? Just confused about that to a it.

I think in Gold and Silver gender also effected states is that also true in the
3rd generation games?

the differences and similarities between your and your brother's charizard are due to different EVs and IVs. and the "max stat" values on the main site are assuming 31 IVs and 252EVs in that stat.

natures affect stats from as soon as you catch it. an adamant lv 5 beldum will have more attack than a modest one.

to get close to the values on the main site, you have to EV train, which is covered in the EV/IV sticky.

gender had no effect on stats, ever. that was false, made up by people who had too much time on their hands. like all the other pokemyths that make no sense.

actually in GSC gender did have an effect on attack.

Males in GSC were slightly more powerful than females

the reason: I don't remember

but there were a lot of people mad about it and there may even have been a lawsuit

To be exact, the when a pokemon has a specific nature one stat will be subject to a 1.1 increase everytime (meaning that if the stat is already high it will gain more from that stat) and 0.9 increase for the lowered on.

ie: When the stat is beneficial it will gain an extra point for every ten while if it is detrimental for every 10 points it will lose one point...basically.

oh. durr, i remember now. the reaon why is because they had to make sure that pokemon caught in R/B/Y had a good variety of genders when they were traded to G/S/C, so they had to work off of values they already had in R/B/Y. so they chose IVs, and the gender was directly tied to stats.

Ok thanks that explained a bit more. This nature thing and ev's makes it so much harder to do things now. Did they even have ev's in G/S/C cause if they did I never noticed lol. Also you said they get an extra point every ten levels but if you catch a higher level pokemon the difference is quiet big like 30 or so.

The max stat on the main site is assuming your pokemon has ful IVS on each and everystat. So your latoais doesnt have max ivs so it wont have the max stat/
