Many of my Pokémon are named after other video game characters (Okay, I'm nuts.) because some of them reminded me of them.

Some examples:

Blastoise: Guile (Street Fighter) Guile is from the miliary; Blastoise is built like a tank
Primeape: Donkey Kong Really obvious
Marowak: Donovan (Darkstalkers) Marowak's bonemerang reminds me of Donovan's Call Kilshred move in the game
Cacturne: Cactuar (Final Fantasy) quite obvious

Sometimes a certain Pokémon may remind me of anime characters such as:

Ninetales: Naruto because of the story of the nine-tailed fox that was sealed in the title character

Solrock: Otenko - after the Messenger of the Sun (who accompanies Solar Boy Django on his adventures), from Boktai
Rayquaza: Dojo - they're both Green Dragons, and Dojo is from Xiaolin Showdown.
Swampert (M): Omi, or Clay - Omi is the Xiaolin Dragon of Water, and Clay is the Xiaolin Dragon of Earth! Obvious because of Swampert's characteristics.
Blaziken (F): Kimiko - She's the Xiaolin Dragon of Fire, OBVIOUS!!
Gastly, Haunter or Gengar (F): Wuya - She was a Heylin Witch turned ghost, and is now human (without most of her powers), SHE'S A GHOST!
