Hello!!
I wanted to make a thread to see what type of pokemon you think or would like to see on the cover on Diamond and Pearl!!
So far I dunno why but I think Lucario is on Diamond and Manafi is on Pearl...
But, I dont think itll happen, but its a possibility
What are YOUR ideas?
Go nuts!! :)

Lucario and Manaphy? Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. No.

I suspect both of the boxes will have a neutral or colorless pokemon to fit with the Diamond and Pearl Theme.

Lucario and Manaphy are both blue.

I think that Lucario will be on one box.

But however I do not think Manaphy will be since its the Mew/Celebi/Jirachi of the 4th Gen. They have never put those Pokemon on the cover so.

I think they will feature some Pokemon that are as of yet unrevealed. Lucario seems too outstanding to be included on either box. :/

It will be the Lugia/Ho-oh counterparts of the DP games. That's the pattern that has been used since GSC.

My guess is these two Pokemon will be based around diamonds and pearls.

I agree with Scott, tht that they won't choose manaphy, but I think the two pokemon will be released later on.

I don't think so...It would be pointless to put two Poke'Mon that aren't in the
game to be on the cover...Escpecially two older ones...

Maybe it'll be two of the starters fully evolved...Like Blue, Red, FR, and LG...

RukarioGroundon, read the stickies; we know for a fact that those are fake. ;[

Alternatively, I posit that there might be two rare Pokemon crucial to the storyline on the cover that are not legendaries. If I had to guess types, I'd say Ice for Diamond and Water or Rock for Pearl.

i'd like to have two fully evolved starters on the cover. having these giant legendaries with no personality on the cover makes the games seem less appealing in my opinion. this is, of course, assuming that the starters look in any way half-decent. but i'd prefer it if it prioritised pokemon that you would actually use during the game.

I totally know for sure that thoses RukarioGroudon's pictures of Pearl and Diamond r TOTALLY REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the thing is that those are not real, while he was suggesting those actual fake box covers would be potential candidates for the final product's cover, which they clearly will not be considering the lack of any artistic skill in their design and the use of old Pokemon. Besides of which, they're explicitly listed as fake in the stickies which should be reason enough. ._.

Ontopic: Grymyrk, while it would be nice to see two of the starters, it would seem to me that they are being given preferential treatment over the other, unmentioned one (unless of course they make a third version), and barring that I don't think diamonds and pearls would integrate too well with red, green, and blue creatures. :<

Play With Fire
I just figured out something, the games have special pokemon on the front see:

Red - Charizard
Blue - Blastoise
Yellow (Special Pikachu Edition) - Pikachu
Green (Japanese) - Venasaur

Gold - Ho-Oh
Silver - Lugia
Crystal - Suicune

Ruby - Groudon
Sapphire - Kyorge
Emerald - Rayquaza

FireRed - Charizard
LeafGreen - Venasaur

See they all have special pokemon on the front covers. I will explain

Kanto Special:

Charizard - Fully Evolved Starter
Blastoise - Fully Evolved Starter
Venasaur - Fully Evolved Starter
Pikachu - Special Pokemon only obtained as starter in Yellow

Johto Special:

Ho-Oh - Legendary
Lugia - Legendary
Suicune - Legendary

Hoenn Special:

Groudon - Legendary
Kyorge - Legendary
Rayquaza - Legendary

Kanto Special (Remakes):

Charizard - Fully Evolved Starter
Venasaur - Fully Evolved Starter

Thats All

what's interesting to note though that although charizard and blastoise were on the fron of red/blue, it's actually bulbasaur that's first in the dex, as if that was their way of attempting to balance out this possible unfairness. although i do agree that diamond and pearl aren't likely to be colours you'll associate with grass, water or fire.

The Deadman
It'll probably be new Legendaries. I highly doubt Manafi will be on either boxes, but Lucario is a possiblity.

Well, obviously it's going to be a more "important" Pokemon, as they wouldn't just throw something random on there; However, there aren't enough of the new Pokemon revealed to make any kind of judgement on particulars.

Well, wouldn't common sense tell you that if it's on the box for a video game that it's probably important?

And by the way...the Poke'Mon also happen to match in color with the boxes...just in case you haven't noticed...

Yeah...

That might be a problem in the 4th generation because if you think about it, the colors for the boxes might be the same. Diamonds and pearls (most of the ones I've seen at least) are white-ish. Although I've heard that pearls can also be pink-ish white or jet black. So having Lucario or Manafi on the boxes would be out of the question. 'Cuase they're blue. I'm possitive that the pokémon on the boxes will be ones that have yet to be revealed. Most likely to be legendaries.

DarkSpectrum

Shadow Amongst Light
gold silver and crystal din't really have pokemon to match colors but were matched to appropriate pokemon:

gold - ho-oh (more of a vibrant colored pokemon and also related to fire seeing as most first box games are fire-ish related)

silver - Lugia (more of a whitish color and since the 2nd box games are either water or grass related, **yes lugia is flying/psychic but a lot of people think of it more as a water/ice kinda type**)

crystal - suicine (also clearish in color and somewhat representative of water)

Now.... Since diamonds are made from extreme pressure and **HEAT**, more than likely diamond will have a similar Fire type reference.
And, since Pearls are formed UNDERWATER in bi-valve clam-like animal shells, it will more than likely take on a Water type reference.

Soooo..... If Manaphy IS a water type legendary, i'm going to say it is highly possible it will be on the cover of Pearl.
as for Diamond, I believe this pokemon hasn't been introduced.
