Pokemon Regional Academy[RA]

Paradoxe

not actually psychic
Savannah Winters - Green

Savannah woke up with a jolt, the loud hum of floor polishers and vacuums filling her ears. She rubbed the "sand" from her eyes, and looked around. The battle gym was completely empty, and the janitors were now coming in for regular cleaning. "Aww, dang it, Kiki! Why didn't you wake me up?" Savannah heard no response. "Kiki!" again, there was no response from the Togepi. Savannah started to worry. What if she had wandered off? What if she was taken when the other students were leaving? What if Kiki didn't love her anymore? All those thoughts were abolished when Savannah heard a loud yawn behind her. She stood up, and right in tge crevice between the rows of the bleachers was her Togepi, still wearing her sunglasses. "You fell asleep too?" Savannah asked to her Pokemon. The Togepi nodded its head, still in a sleep-induced haze, and started lying back down. "Oooh no you don't. Come on, we're here." Savannah reached over and scooped up Kiki into her arms. Once the Togepi was secured, Savannah strolled over to a janitor that was wiping off a set of bleachers. "Excuse me sir, when did we arrive at the academy?" she asked, hoping the answer wasn't drastic. "Hmmm...wha-oh yes. We arrived maybe about an hour ago."

Sixty minutes. In those sixty minutes, nobody had thought to wake up the sleeping girl that might've wanted to actually make it to orientation on time. But noooo, people here were too selfish to bother with the tiniest problems. "Thanks...I guess." Savannah muttered to the janitor. She made sure she had a tight grip on Kiki and sprinted to the deck of the ship.

Savannah was completely out of breath by the time she reached the arena. In between her struggles to fill her lungs with air, she could hear parts of Headmaster Richards speech about "goals and ambitions and dreams and becoming the greatest Pokemon Master who ever set foot on the Earth". It was the same each year, but Savannah wouldn't really know. She's been late to orientation each year since her days in the Red House, no exceptions. It really wasn't her fault, (well, it probably was) but there was no reason to stick around for the speech unless you were a first year student. After finally adopting a normal breathing pattern, she started searching for an empty seat. She saw a patch of free seats all the way on the other side of stadium, which would probably take a year to get to, but they were the only seats she saw. After working her way over to her seat in the maze of a stadium, she was finally able to rest. She sat down, tilted her head back, and was ready to listen to the speech. "And this concludes the Pokemon Regional Academy orientation. In an organized manner, please make your way to your respective colored dorms." and with that, the Headmaster finished his speech and dissappeared underneath the stadium. "OH, COME ON!" Savannah shouted, causing many seated near her to turn their heads and give funny looks. It was just her luck that she would have to make a journey across the stadium again right after sitting down. She stood up, and marched towards the exit.

Savannah wanted to kill herself. Not in the literal sense, but she was getting there. She had finally managed to get out of that god-forsaken stadium, and make her way to the Green dormitory. She was one of the last to reach the dorm, so the lobby was completely filled, and was harder to navigate than the stadium. To make matters worse, she was second in line to receive her dorm key, just behind some dork who was worried about his "Allergies" and that there was a "life-threatening mold problem in his room". What a wuss. He should just man up and take the room. Some people actually wanted to get to their rooms before the day was over. The conflict was finally resolved when the boy had an asthma attack and was taken to the dormitory's nurse. Savannah stepped up to the desk and stated her info. "Savannah Winters, 17." "Ah yes, Miss Winters. You are in Room...721. Here's your key. Next!" Savannah was ecstatic. Not because she had to walk up seven flights of stairs everyday, but because her room was on the 7th floor. Last year, the 7th floor was party central in the Green dorm. Only students who lived on that floor were invited, so Savannah was excited that she would finally be able to attend a "Lucky 7 Party".

Savannah finally found her room, 721, which was conveniently located next to the Laundry Room. She fiddled with the key, but finally got the doir open. Once inside, she set her bags down and admired the room. It was totally better than the room she had last year. Or any year, for that matter. She put Kiki down to let her explore while she walked over to the window. The view was spectacular; she had an ocean view! She could literally spit and it would land on somebody lounging in the sand. She jumped on her bed, and wondered how much better this year could get.

"Episode 2: The First Day of School!"

Alex yawned as he rubbed his eyes with his clammy palms on his eyes, to shake them open. Alex had a morning headache, due to staying up late unpacking, and getting settled in. He took his sheets off, and got out of his bunk bed. He had been sleeping on the bottom bunk for safety reasons, and also because he felt uneasy about sleeping 5 feet off the ground. He stretched, and opened the curtains, letting a bright ray of warm, morning sunlight illuminate his room. "Time to get ready..." He moaned, as he walked to his bathroom to brush and get ready. Alex wasn't feeling the best, as he was mainly nervous for his first day. He didn't want to get bullied, or picked on, and he certainly did not want to be a nerd, or act like on. Different types of personas came to his mind while brushing, deciding how to act on his first day.

---Half-an Hour later---

Alex got his Red t-shirt, and put on some jeans, and readied his backpack. He walked out the door, and suddenly stopped right in front of it. "Almost forgot Agua." He thought. He grabbed the Pokeball from his desk, and walked out the door, locking it behind him. He looked forwards, and a few ways away, he could see the Academy. He walked towards it, following the dirt path that led to the school from the dorms. "Alright, first thing's first. I got to get some breakfast." Alex was looking at the brochure last night, and it said that breakfast is served at 8:30am sharp, and classes start at 9:00am.

It wasn't long before Alex reached the cafeteria, which was already crowded with students. It wasn't too bad, but the line-up looked like it was going to be a pain. Alex looked around the massive cafeteria, and found the start of the line, and to his surprise, it wasn't even that long. The line kept moving, as students got their trays, and food and left for tables. Alex picked up a tray, and looked at the food, which was behind a protective glass. "What will you like dear?" A voice suddenly spoke to Alex.

He looked forwards, and saw a rather skinny, old-lady, with grey hair, a white apron, and giant, black ladle in her hand. Alex looked at her nametag, which read, "Marge". What a typical lunch lady name... Thought Alex. "Uhhh..." Alex looked at the selection. There was scrambled eggs in one steel bin, sausages in another, and waffles and pancakes in the last two steel bins. " I think I'll have two waffles, please." He said in a quiet voice. Marge smiled sweetly, and used a spatula to serve the waffles in a plate, and handed them to Alex. " Thanks." He said, as he grabbed his plate, and looked around. A few feet away, he saw a condiment island, which had maple syrup, cutlery and other various condiments conveniently located. He got his waffles, and placed them under a dispenser labeled, "Syrup". He pushed the knob, which dispensed warm, amber-coloured syrup over the waffles. Next to the syrup dispenser, were small packages of brown pellet-like cookies. "Pokemon Food." He said, as he grabbed 2 packs for Agua. He grabbed a fork, and got a seat at an empty table, which surprisingly, had nobody sitting on it, save for 2 or 3 people. He took out his schedule while eating his waffled in one hand. "Looks like my first class is Pokemon Research."

Warrior of Heaven
Craig Benton - Yellow

Thankfully, Craig had gone to sleep early. After waking up, he headed over to the shower, brushed his teeth, got dressed in his formal business attire with the yellow tie, and headed on out for breakfast. Since he was aware of this routine from previous years, he knew how to approach the whole breakfast line and think everything their lays laid on was theirs for the taking. Since it was the first day of school, he was sure to see most newer students get greedy at the breakfast line. He knew that unless students ate their breakfast while waiting on line (which almost none of them did), they'd have to gobble it down, or eat only roughly half of what they picked up, or risk being late to class, not something that students wanting good grades would risk doing.

The trick was to only get one hot item, at most. Waiting for a hot waffle, eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes, or anything that had to be cooked was fine as long as it was limited to only one of those, but waiting for two or more of those things usually took too long, which resulted in students having to wolf down everything as time ran out. Breakfast was served at 8:30, and first classes started at 9:00. One might think that a half hour for breakfast was a pretty good deal... until they considered that it could take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes just to get breakfast from waiting on lines, and then it could take five minutes to get to class... leaving them with a very brief five minutes to wolf down breakfast.

The cafeteria was packed, as he had expected. This wasn't a problem though, but a newcomer to this situation would be a little lost and wouldn't know how to budget time against preferences. Meanwhile, the cafeteria was as he remembered it. The brown-tiled floor always seemed to be sticky, and many of the metal-legged chairs with the plastic seat were old and wobbled because a cap on one of the legs was always missing. The lighting was good enough, but the issue here was the lights were high up, and thus, a few of them were burnt out and not replaced, mainly because it was an annoying process to have to get a lift out to replace them. The janitorial staff never seemed to be too keen on replacing the bulbs, and usually waited for at least a third of them to burn out before replacing them with new ones.

Craig stuck to a simple breakfast. One warmed up waffle, a muffin, an apple, and some coffee. All obtained in about eight minutes, mainly because the waffle iron was relatively faster than waiting on the bacon line, or the egg line, or the omelet lime, and especially waiting on multiple lines one after another. With that extra time, he was able to eat a comfortable breakfast, not be rushed, and make it to class on time. He figured most of the new students would end up learning this... although the hard way. Thankfully, feeding Pokémon was quick and easy. Taking a quick package of prepared food only took seconds, and Cyan the Buizel seemed relatively content with it.

Finding a seat could be another matter that would be a time-consuming hassle. A lot of students weren't very concerned with the mess they left behind, so anyone getting to the dining area late might find the only place to sit had abandoned food trays there, or a generous milk spill there. Often, those who were fussy ran out of time.

Craig's first class was Pokémon Research with Professor Naomi Johnston in room 117. Craig had her before in a Pokémon First Aid class back in his second year, but she was a mixed bag. She liked students who cared, who showed up on time, and did the work. But to students that liked to be lazy and apathetic in class, she could be a merciless executioner. Pokémon Research was essentially based on the characteristics of Pokémon, their habitats, their behaviors, and other similar aspects. Getting to class was easy, and knowing the layout of the hallways and the numbers of the rooms was a breeze. And then Craig remembered that a new student would usually get lost in these hallways, looking for the right room number, which always seemed to skip around. Plus the breakfast situation didn't help either. Craig couldn't help but remember his first day at the academy, and recall how... anti-newbie it seemed to be.

Room 117 was easy for Craig to find, and he was one of the first people to show up to class. The seating layout was in a two-level U shaped desk with the professor lecturing in the center. It allowed for all students to see the professor and the presentations without having to look over the heads and shoulders of other students. As he stepped through the door, he was greeted by Professor Johnston, and he was handed a Pokéball.

Professor Johnston was a young and intelligent instructor, but she was also stern and adamant. She was tall and had a slender frame, and she also had long brunette hair with an expression that was charming, but could easily be turned into one of contempt in a moment.

Craig... wasn't too thrilled about getting a Pokéball. He didn't mind working in textbooks, computers, and the like when it came to learning. But teaching lessons with live Pokémon... wasn't predictable, and wasn't his cup of tea. But he smiled as he accepted the Pokéball from the professor to be polite. Meanwhile, he saw that other students had gotten a Pokéball as well.

"Hey, Johnston!" One of the other students shouted, obviously not caring about etiquette. "What's the extra Pokémon for anyway? We have our own already, you know!"

Craig smirked to himself as he took his seat, knowing that kind of rudeness was a very fast and effective way to get on Professor Johnston's bad side. The thuggish, black haired and very casually dressed student seemed to be a second year, a punk of a kid that probably would have been more likely to be a part of Team Rocket than in an academy. His messy, black hair implied he hadn't even taken a shower that morning, and his t-shirt and acid-washed jeans had seen better days. Still, knowing he was here already before most students arrived, he looked like he knew the breakfast routine better than most.

"That Pokémon will be your research for the semester," the professor told him. "All students will need to prepare a 15 page paper regarding the Pokémon's background, their traits, aspects, and their behaviors, meaning you would do well to take careful notes and do ongoing research throughout the semester. I feel the best way to learn these is through owning the Pokémon and observing it firsthand."

"What!?" One of the other students asked. "But we have our own Pokémon! Why can't we just write the research report on them?"

"You already know most of the traits of your own Pokémon," Johnston told him. "I want you to study a Pokémon that you haven't ever possessed before, one that you don't know and one that doesn't know you either. In addition to that fifteen page report, you're going to be assigned to a group, who will do a group project. And yes, you'll use your same study Pokémon again. This time you'll observe how your Pokémon reacts to other Pokémon and the kinds of behaviors they express. Everyone in your group will get together and observe how your study Pokémon react to each other. I'll go into more detail when the rest of the class gets here. But just know, the students with the three highest grades at the end of the semester will get to keep their study Pokémon as a reward. And before you ask, there will be absolutely no battling with study Pokémon! If I find out you've been battling with them, I'm going to take points off your final grade."

For Craig, this was going to be tough. Studying a textbook wasn't a problem for him. Getting research in the library or looking up information on a computer was easy for him as well. But trying to study a living, breathing Pokémon... might not be so easy. It meant having to research its diet and feed it accordingly. Then, understand its usual habitat, bring it to that location on the island, and observe it in that context. He'd also have to take notes on the behavior and nature of his Pokémon, which Craig was truly hoping wasn't going to be a problem, although it was a bit of a gamble. If the Pokémon was unruly, it was going to haunt him for the entire semester...

As more students came in, the professor handed them each a Pokéball containing a mystery Pokémon. Some of the students were already believing this Pokémon was theirs to keep, but Professor Johnston make it clear they weren't. She also told no one to open them up yet until everyone arrived, just to avoid having students trade. As Craig knew, Johnston was definitely going to record who got what Pokémon, so she could track it and make sure no trading went on.

As Craig sat down in the back row, he couldn't help but look at the Pokéball containing his study Pokémon. Hopefully what was inside wasn't going to be the nail in his coffin this semester.

Serro Layo – Blue

Serra had gone to bed early, knowing that she would have trouble finding her classes as she didn’t exactly a good sense of direction. She woke to her alarm ringing at quarter till 8:00a.m. She grumbled slightly and got ready, releasing Lira in the process to let her wake up. When she was done dressing, she poked Lira on the side, getting a whine from Lira and said, “Wakey wakey Lira, we’re getting breakfast.” Lira instantly perked up at the thought of getting food and was instantly at the door pawing at it to get out. Serra snickered slightly and checked the time on her pokegear to see that it was 8:21a.m. She was wearing a simple uniform that was all blue to emphasize her house. It was a simple blue skirt and a blue blouse to match with the skirt. The blouse definitely showed no skin until it was at the neck as her mom didn’t want her showing people what they weren’t supposed to see.

She held a map in of the campus as she tried to find the cafeteria and once she did, her mouth dropped at the line that was already there. The line was so long that it probably made dragonair look short. Lira shared her sentiment and her ears drooped and she had a sad look on her face. Serra quickly folded her map and put it away in her portable belt that held small items and emergency items. She gently picked up Lira and said, “Don’t worry, we’re get our food.” Lira just softly whined in response and Serra stood in line.

After what felt an eternity to her, she reached front and looked at the menu. She ordered some sausages, some scrambled eggs, and two waffles. The lady smiled and fixed her plate before placing it in front of her. She gently set down Lira, who had begun drooling at the sight and smell of food, and thanked the lady before taking the plate and grabbing an orange juice. She eventually found a seat at a table that wasn’t crowded. Lira jumped to the seat beside her before padding onto her lap. She quickly began eating the sausages, getting some stares from some students as it seemed a bit odd for a girl with a vulpix eating from one plate. It didn’t bother her though and she ate her scrambled eggs and waffles quickly. She took a napkin and wiped her face before looking down at Lira’s face which was content, but had greasy stains all over her muzzle. Lira burped softly in satisfaction, sending an air of sausage into Serra’s nose, causing her to shake her head in amusement. Serra took another napkin and began cleaning Lira’s muzzle, getting as much grease off as possible, getting an angry glare from Lira.

Once done cleaning, Lira huffed and got out of her lap and Serra took the empty plate and dropped in the trash can. A soft chime was heard and she checked her pokegear only to see that she had five minutes to get to class. She panicked slightly and took her map back out and ran, trying to find her class. She arrived at the door to class with just a minute or two to spare, out of breath with Lira grinning at her. She returned Lira to her pokeball and put away the map before walking into the classroom, only to stop when a pokeball was in front of her face, being held by a smirking professor. She looked guiltily up at the professor and took the pokeball from her hand. The professor said softly, “Having trouble finding my classroom?” Serra blushed brightly in embarrassment and slightly stuttered out a yes before looking for an empty desk. She eventually found one near the right side of the classroom and sat down as the professor closed the door and walked to the front of the class.

Whatcha gotta say?
Evelyn Yvette Carson | 16 | Female | Green

Evelyn and Ultros were up at six to prep themselves for the day ahead. Breakfast started at seven thirty so that gave them a two and a half hours to get through their morning routine, the first of which would be Evelyn’s therapy. Although her sessions with Nurse Bailey wouldn’t begin for another few days, she still had her original therapist in Ultros. Aside from the tingling sensation induced by the psychic waves and gentle pulses of electricity, the morning session was mostly pain free, as it usually was with the little Pokémon. A painless session always was a good sign to her. It meant her bones weren’t stiffening as much or at least had lessened. There were some days that not even the gentlest technique Ultros could muster would assuage the pain. She only hoped it would continue to get better. Afterwards, Evelyn bathed, wormed into a set of clothing strikingly similar to the ones she wore the day before, and left the room with keys and necessary school materials in tow.

The sun had hit the horizon by the time Evelyn departed from the Green Dorm, forcing the night to recede and make way for the pale blue of the first hours. Some wingull cawed overhead as they flew towards the sea. Despite it being early in the morning, there was some movement, albeit slow with the exception of those who had inexhaustible energy. Many of the newer students’ eyelids were heavy with sleep as they dragged their feet in the direction of the cafeteria, which turned out to be rather packed with a rather extensive line trailing back towards the door. From the way it appeared, Evelyn thought they wouldn’t have time to make it to the trays let alone eat and make it to class before it began. Surprisingly, the line moved along faster than she anticipated, but the fear of being late for class overrode the need for a proper meal. As a result, Evelyn grabbed an apple and banana before directing her wheelchair towards the building where classes were held. Ultros use to admonish her for not getting a slightly larger meal into her system in the mornings and she try to accommodate his wishes. However, after being tardy several times in a row, the ralts contented himself with her grabbing the healthy stuff at the least.

Her small breakfast was finished by the time they reached the school’s doors. She discarded the core and peel in a nearby trashcan before entering the building, with the help of Ultros. Room one seventeen was her destination and Pokémon Research was the name of the class. Professor Johnston turned out to be the teacher this time around and Evelyn thought her to be a rather awesome person who was truly dedicated to her work. Evelyn guided her chair through the entrance to the classroom, happening upon the tail end of the professor’s brief lecture with the early arrivals. Evelyn rolled up to the woman.

“We’re raising Pokémon this year professor?” Evelyn quietly questioned, looking up at the teacher.

The woman turned her attention to the girl. “That’s correct. As I was informing your fellow students, the Pokémon will be your research for the semester. Everyone will need to prepare a fifteen-page paper regarding the Pokémon's background, their traits, aspects, and their behaviors.”

“Does that mean we didn’t need to bring Pokémon of our own?”

Professor Johnston shook her head. “No, you will still need your personal Pokémon for other classes and activities in the academy. I decided to issue Pokémon this year because I feel the best way to learn is through owning the Pokémon and observing it firsthand." Evelyn merely nodded and accepted the ball that dropped into her open hands. "Don’t forget to put your ralts back in his poké ball before class begins.”

Evelyn absentmindedly nodded while her mind immediately went to guessing what creature was contained inside, but she refrained from opening it. She figured the teacher would let them know when they could release their surprise partner and the one that would be with them for the rest of the semester. Evelyn uttered a small thanks to the professor before finding an empty space at a desk on the upper level. Although she would have preferred the lower level because it provided a much closer view of the board, Evelyn did not fancy making a spectacle of herself if she tried to get her chair to make it safely down the stairs. A spot near the stairs would have to do.

“This is the start of another school year Ultros. Do you think I’ll do okay?” Evelyn nervously asked while removing a notebook and pencil from her small backpack. Ultros bobbed his head and gave a confident, reassuring smile. After returning the gesture, Evelyn called him back into his ball and placed it in her pocket while she sat the ball the professor gave her a few inches above her notebook. She eyed it nervously and hoped it wouldn't be anything too difficult to interact with. Taking a deep breath, Evelyn tried to calm herself as she waited for the class to begin.

Steve Smith.

Steve overslept and had to rush. After a quick shower, getting dressed rapidly and eating as fast as he could, he rushed off to lesson.

But he was still late. He opened the door and tried to sneak in. Unfortunately he was caught.

"Well, Steve Smith, I seem to have you again. One detention after lessons start." Professor Johnson told him.

"Come on its the first lesson!" Steve complained.

"Ok, but you are on warning. Now take a pokeball."

Steve grumbled under his breath and grabbed a pokeball, then sat down next to a boy of about 19 who was observing the pokeball. (Craig/neo Pikachu)

Steve started to toss the ball from side to side, waiting for the Professor to start the lesson.

Avenger Angel

Warrior of Heaven
Craig Benton - Yellow

It wasn't long until the remainder of the students had arrived to class, several of them late from getting lost and/or taking too much time in the cafeteria. Craig figured it was going to be a rough first week for all of the newcomers, but after that, it would be easier to detect who the real aces of the class were, and who were the slackers that like to play hooky during class.

"Greetings, students, my name is Professor Naomi Johnston," The young, brunette-haired instructor said to the class as she introduced herself. "Welcome to Pokémon Research, where we will be learning about the natures of Pokémon, their aspects, the kinds of environments they live in, and how they behave, just to name a few. I know many of you students are out to become researchers and professors yourselves, which is great to hear. But, as always, these professions aren't easy and aren't for everyone. Not everything about Pokémon is easy, and a lot of learning about them can be hard work."

Craig couldn't help but nod when he heard that. Getting a live Pokémon to study and observe... that was going to be hard work. Meanwhile, the rest of the class seemed to be lightly interested. The fact Professor Johnston gave everyone a Pokémon definitely caught their interest, but Craig already knew... this was definitely not a Pokémon to battle with. And those that did were in for a world of reprimands and lower grades if they did.

"I know, most of you are wondering about the Pokéball you were handed as you came into class," the professor continued as the class looked at her and the Pokéballs they were given curiously. "This Pokémon will be the subject of your study for the semester. Throughout the class, I'm expecting you to monitor and observe this Pokémon, take notes on their behavior, and keep a log as to the way they react to certain situations and in the environment. And yes, you may have heard already, but I do not want anyone battling with this Pokémon. If I find out, and I always do, your grade will be impacted. Your grade will also be impacted if your Pokémon wasn't taken well care of either. And don't lose them either!"

Craig sighed, knowing Pokémon care wasn't exactly his forte. He didn't mind researching them... as much, but the threat of having to clean up after them, feed them, make sure they didn't destroy things and run away... it was rough. Without a doubt, Craig could imagine this would be one of the tougher classes for pretty much everyone.

"For the top three students, you'll be allowed to keep this Pokémon," Johnston told the students. "Usually trainers that pay close attention to these Pokémon, take good care of them, and closely monitor their reactions usually bond with these Pokémon and get good grades anyway. Think of it as your reward for doing a good job."

He figured he might as well try to get on the Pokémon's good side, although that wasn't exactly an easy thing for someone who was studying to be a lawyer in the meantime. Sure, the class probably wouldn't be of much help to him considering his intended profession, but it was just something he was going to have to deal with.

Johnston then went into the details of the fifteen page report, and why they weren't using their own Pokémon for this. Truthfully, writing a fifteen page report on Cyan the Buizel and the behavior of Buizels would have been a piece of cake. Monitoring his behavior would have been a simple and easy process as well. But now, he had to monitor a Pokémon that didn't even know him, a problem just waiting to happen as far as discipline and obedience goes. For that, Johnston... was a little cruel.

And then there was the group project. Craig had been assigned to a group of four, a red house kid by the name of Alex Ganston, a blue house girl by the name of Serro Layo, and a green house girl by the name of Evelyn Carson. Craig wasn't too surprised, considering it was like Johnston to mix the houses together when it came to group projects, although very often, reds liked that so the yellows would have to pick up all their slack. Craig remembered during Pokémon First Aid where the red kid literally expected him to do the entire assignment for him because he knew staying in the yellow house was important to him, and a low grade for the entire group could destroy that. He was hoping this Alex kid wasn't like that, but if he was, there wasn't much he could do about it if he wanted to keep his grades up. He hated that aspect of group projects, but it was a necessary evil.

Johnston then began with lesson one, understanding the role of Pokémon in the world, and the purpose of researching them. Basic introduction, nothing unexpected. He took pretty careful notes, even though most of this material he knew already. Very often professors didn't share the same viewpoint on things, and there were always issues with semantics and definitions.

"What needs to be understood is the nature of the ecosystem in which Pokémon live and thrive in," Johnston explained, writing more notes on the whiteboard with a squeaky black marker. "We study Pokémon so we can understand the roles these Pokémon fill within this ecosystem, whether they are prey or predators, how they survive and adapt to changes in the environment, and how they respond to each other, whether it be cooperatively or aggressively. I'm sure most of you know that there are plenty of cases where different species of Pokémon work together in a colony, but the opposite is also very true. Many of these Pokémon can be extremely territorial as well, especially after evolution."

Again, pretty much a no brainer. Craig noticed many students weren't even bothering to take notes, figuring they knew all this already. But, Craig also knew that on examinations, Johnston liked using these exact words for questions and responses. And on reports, using the same kinds of details that she covered in class always scored well with her, and proved you were paying attention. Most students who got As always answered questions as if they were the professor taking their own exam. If this was how the professor talked in lectures, then it's how they would like people to respond on the exam.

"So one may ask, what is the role of humanity in researching Pokémon?" She questioned the class. "It is our duty to protect Pokémon and ensure we do whatever we can to help them survive. As humans, we need to be responsible, especially as we expand our cities, improve our technology, and broaden our horizons. Progression always comes with sacrifice, and we have to consider our choices, especially if they greatly affect the environment. Therefore, research is necessary to ensure that as we progress and expand, we minimize the negative impact on the environment as much as possible. And researching Pokémon and their habitats can help us do this."

As the class soon came to a close, Craig pretty much figured the whole scope of the class would be covered in Day 1. It was a typical introduction to get students aware of what they were getting into.

"Now then, before we leave, I want to give you some advice for the project you're going to do with your class-assigned Pokémon," Johnston told the class, five minutes before the end of class. "It's up to you to decide how you want to organize and present your findings and your observations in your report that's due on the last day of class. I like detail and I like commitment to a routine. It shows responsibility. In your notes, explain the details of who, what, when, where, why, and how when it comes to observing your Pokémon. Ask yourself what they may be thinking or feeling. See how that changes when you release them outside instead of in your dorm. If you do it right and remain committed, I'm sure you'll find the experience both interesting and rewarding."

And after that, the bell to signal the end of class had rung. Craig already had a general idea of how he was going to present the data and the research. The problem was following through with it, and keeping up with the routine, especially when he had other classes to work on. He hoped they wouldn't be as demanding as this one, but he could never be too sure about that.

"Well, that's it for today," Johnston told the class as they gathering up their things and began to leave. "Make sure you read chapter 1 and 2 of your textbooks before our next class, and do questions 1-10 at the end of the chapters! They'll help you when it comes to taking observation notes on your Pokémon!"

Craig was sure most of the other students were already groaning over that rather demanding first day assignment. But, he couldn't help but shrug as he headed out the door. It was a school, after all.

Candice "Candy" Viloria | Yellow House

It was only the first day, yet Candy found herself with the troublesome task of taking care of a Pokémon she hardly even knew about, as well as writing a 15-page report about the stupid creature by the end of the semester. Apparently, the reason why they had to study an unfamiliar Pokémon was because it would be too easy if they used their own Pokémon, but a 15-page report on its behaviour and traits? Seriously?Oh, and not to mention, she had to read two chapters of the book and answer twenty questions... Why, oh why, did she have to be cursed this way?

Well, there was nothing I can do about it, she thought gloomily, sighing, and headed for her next lesson.

But before that...

"Come on out, little guy!" Candy whispered, as she walked to a corner, and released the Pokémon in the Poké Ball she'd received in the lesson. A red beam of light shot out from the sphere, which then materialised into a strange, bluish-violet creature, with clumps of... hair?... on top of its head. Candy had never seen any creature like it before. Cackling, it disappeared into thin air, much to Candy's horror.*

"Gah! Where've you gone?" She yelled, desperately looking around for the Pokémon. All of a sudden, the Pokémon reappeared right behind Candy's head, and silently snickering to itself, it screamed in a dreadfully high-pitched, ear-splitting voice, which forced Candy - as well as pretty much everyone in the corridor - to cover their ears. Moaning, Candy reached for its Poké Ball, reluctant on exposing her ear, and held it out, which absorbed the Pokémon into it, as well as the horrible screech.*

"Well, that's one trait covered," Candy grumbled, and dashed off to her next class, trying her best to avoid the dagger-like glares people were giving her as she rushed through the corridor.*

Thankfully enough, her next lesson was located pretty close to Room 117; in fact, it took place in Room 123, which was basically just round the corner. Candy took one brief glance at her timetable, which dangled on a zipper on her bag, before walking in. Most of the students were already there, with the Reds and Blues chatting to each other loudly about whatever subject they fancied, and Greens and Yellows either quietly reading a book or talking to each other quietly about school and homework. The teacher had yet to come, and Candy took one of the few remaining seats inside the classroom, which was right at the front. For some reason, only Yellows occupied the front seats, apart from one Green.*

The subject was Natural Studies, which covered the various berries and herbs which grew around Hoenn; one of her favourite subjects, along with Mythology. Hopefully the teacher was as nice as the teacher she had had last year.*

Candy's hopes were crushed as a few moments later, a stern-looking professor with grey hair tied back in a bun and wrinkles on her face entered the room, a frown on her lips. Her name was Dr Susan Patrick, and was well-known for her notoriously strict rules as well as her harsh punishments - and she made that clear by telling the class in a loud, stern voice, "My name is Dr Susan Patrick, for those of you who don't know, and I expect only the best of work from you - failure to produce work with high standards will mean immediate and harsh punishment."

Cal Chase -- Red -- Shuckle

Cal jerked up from her pillow. From the window across her room she could see that sunlight was already pouring in. Rubbing her head, she pulled her Pokedex from her pocket to check the time. "8:03. great," she mused. Finding herself still mostly dressed from the night before, Cal simply shrugged before throwing her red and dark grey striped jacket on. Recalling Coope, she slipped the Pokedex back into her pants pocket and sped out the door.

Despite having woken up early enough for breakfast, she instead fished out a Pecha berry Coope had left in her jacket pocket. She had no intention of getting held up in the inevitably long lines, choosing to head straight to her first class. "This year is gonna be awesome," she said to herself, swallowing a chunk of Pecha.*

In only a few minutes Cal found herself standing in the hall in which her first class would take place. Pulling out her schedule, she checked the room number again. Memorizing it as fast as possible, she stormed down the tiled corridor, finally finding the correct room. In a few quick movements, she had opened and entered the room.

Sitting at the desk at the front of the room, a slender, brunette woman gave a surprised look as Cal stumbled in. "Well, well, well," the woman spoke, "it seems you're here again Ms. Chase."

"When have I not had your class, Johnston?" Cal asked sarcastically. A gleeful smile crossed Cal's face as she spied the box on the desk. "Are those the Pokemon?" she asked, hold back her excitement.

"Yep," Johnston gave a playful wink, "I assume you'd like to get your's?"

Cal turned up her nose in a faux uninterest, "Maybe I would. Would you mind if I grabbed a Pokeball now?"

"Go ahead," the teacher said with a sigh.

This action was met with a squeal from Cal as she rushed to the box. She fingered the the multicolored spheres before finally finding the one she felt was for her. With a huge grin, she tossed the ball into the air, calling out its inhabitant. In a burst of red light, a bird with a head shaped like an eighth note. The white tuft around its neck as its blue wings guided it to Cal's shoulder.*

"Hello there," Cal said.

"Hello there," the avian chimed back.

"Call him back now, Cal. Can't keep him out for too long."

"Whatever you say, Johnston." Cal did as told and returned the bird to his ball before striding to the back of the class, where she simply kicked back waiting for class to begin. It eventually did, each student coming in and recieving a study Pokemon of their own. Johnston began reeling off all of the information Cal had heard before. She already knew she'd be doing a fifteen page report on the Pokemon she recieved. She also knew that there was an impending group project, the bane of her existance. She listened closely to that part, finding out who her group would be. She was placed with Savannah Winters, a Green, Steve Smith, a Red like her, and Brett Salas, a Blue. She growled at the last one. She always found the Blues rather elitist.*

After that point, Cal spaced out, only to be brought back by the ringing of the bell and the notice of homework that she would inevitably skip.

With a quick pace, she moved to the next class, finding a place in the back. She knew what class this was by heart and which teacher taught it. "This is gonna suck," she scoffed quietly.

Leo Silverstone - Yellow
Pokemon: Shawn the Munna

After getting off the boat, and listening to the headmaster's speech, Leo and Shawn went to their room and went straight to the bed without speaking to anybody. He hoped tomorrow would be a better day.

The next morning, because he went to bed really early, Leo woke up at 8:00 AM. He brushed his teeth, combed his hair, (Though as always, one strand of hair always stood up.) got dressed in a red tank top, with a yellow jacket with the school's logo sewed onto the back, a pair of blue jeans held up by a belt, and sneakers. He then grabbed his backpack and Shawn's pokeball and went out the door.

He stopped by the cafeteria to get breakfast. He had something that he could finish quickly. A small box of cereal, and an apple. After gobbling up both as fast as he could, he threw away his trash in the can, and headed off to his first class as fast as possible so he wouldn't be late.

His first class was Pokemon Research, with Professor Naomi Johnson. When the class finally started, Professor Johnson gave an assignment to study a Pokemon of her choosing, and write a fifteen page report about it. Most of the students groaned when they heard this, but Leo was expecting this sort of thing eventually. After all, that's what you're supposed to do in school right? Although, he wasn't expecting this type of assignment so early in the semester. He was actually looking foward to doing this particular one. He'd get a new Pokemon to use and learn about, and he could possibly keep it if he did well, that could be fun. Additionally, he also had to work with other students in the class, and write about how their Pokemon interacts with others. Well, that's fine, he'd get to meet someone new.

After being given his Pokeball with the Pokemon he would be researching, the class proceeded. After a the class was over, and they were dismissed. Leo let out the Pokemon to see what it was. In a flash of light, a humanoid Pokemon with a purple face, big lips, and long blond hair. It was a Jynx. Another Psychic type like his Munna, but it was clear Jynx was quite different from Munna. Leo walked up to the Psychic/Ice type, and smiled. "Well, it looks like I'll be studying you for a while, I'm Leo."

The Jynx then proceeded to hug the teen tightly. "Jynx!"

"First point, Jynx are very affectionate." Leo managed to say while being squeezed tightly by the Pokemon.

Then, the Jynx and planted a smooch right on Leo's face. The Jynx had used Lovely Kiss on him, causing him to fall asleep right there. The Jynx appeared to be insulted by this, and she slapped his sleeping face. Unfortunately, this did not wake him.

Evelyn Yvette Carson | 16 | Female | Green

The class officially began after the stragglers wandered in, some quietly apologizing while others silently dropped into any remaining seat. As typical of the first day, all seats were filled and students were quietly waiting for the lecture to begin. By the following week, things would end up being different, completely different unless this group of students turned out to be an extremely rare assemblage possessing unwavering diligence and drive to become the best of the best. If that turned out to be the case, then the classroom would always be packed; otherwise there would be more empty seats than the total combinations of spinda’s spot pattern. The professor moved to her desk, easily attracting the attention of her students. Once sure they were focused, did she begin.

"Greetings, students, my name is Professor Naomi Johnston. Welcome to Pokémon Research, where we will be learning about the natures of Pokémon, their aspects, the kinds of environments they live in, and how they behave, just to name a few. I know many of you students are out to become researchers and professors yourselves, which is great to hear. But, as always, these professions aren't easy and aren't for everyone. Not everything about Pokémon is easy, and a lot of learning about them can be hard work."

“That's definitely true,” Evelyn mentally agreed, although she held no experience in raising a Pokémon of her own.

"I know, most of you are wondering about the poké ball you were handed as you came into class…” Like many of the others, Evelyn took a fleeting glance at the ball she was given.

“Oh thank goodness!” The feeling of anxiety she hadn’t known existed dissipated almost immediately at those words. She wasn’t great at battling and desired to avoid it the majority of the time because she just didn’t possess the drive that filled so many others when it came to that popular pastime and career. Not that she was totally inept. Some were worse off than her in that area, but she was definitely nowhere near the best despite she and Ultros having won their fair share of matches. However, if it came down to her choosing between battling and a fifteen-page paper, she would opt for the paper. At least battling wouldn’t be encouraged and a decreased grade was the incentive to keep it that way.

Glancing around the room spoke volumes for some of the students who appeared completely put off at Professor Johnston’s warning. Battling must’ve been the first thing on their mind by the way they slouched in the chair and sulkily stared at their ball. For those who were more defiant, they would find a way to circumvent that rule and try to find ways not to get caught.

The professor continued. "For the top three students, you'll be allowed to keep this Pokémon. Usually trainers that pay close attention to these Pokémon, take good care of them, and closely monitor their reactions usually bond with these Pokémon and get good grades anyway. Think of it as your reward for doing a good job."

Now that was a big incentive and some of those defiant masks were overshadowed by brows raised in intrigue. Curiosity was really getting to the students even more now as they cast impatient glances towards the spherical item with an unknown Pokémon inside. Several began fiddling with it, vacillating between opening it now or later. To say that curiosity wasn’t pestering Evelyn would be a lie, but she continued holding onto her pencil. There would be time later. Besides, what if she did open it and it happened to be a really wild or angry creature or one that was really embarrassing like a magikarp? Not a very comforting thought, but there was always that possibility. A few other students could no longer contain themselves and released their new partner. Evelyn watched in curiosity, noting that the Pokémon did not appear scary in the least and were not exactly silly looking either. “The academy wouldn’t allow students to have really dangerous Pokémon,” she firmly thought, itching even more to open her ball. “No…I’ll wait…just in case.”

Details about the group assignment came next, something that Evelyn had mixed feelings about. She didn’t mind group work, loved it in fact, despite having been paired with those who were less inclined to pull their weight. Group assignments always seem to come with that inevitability, but Evelyn learned that it would be best just to go ahead and do the work. She was capable of handling large projects by herself and was use to it. The professor read out the list of groups and Evelyn found herself partnered with three others: Alex Ganston, Serro Layo, and Craig Benton. None of the names rung a bell, which disappointed Evelyn for she hoped to be in a group with someone she at least had an acquaintance with, such as her new friend Shapes. She quickly jotted down the names of her partners in the upper right hand corner of the notebook along with their respective dorms. Once the last group and its members were called out, the professor dove into the lesson. If Evelyn was an eevee, her ears would be stiffly perked forward as she tuned into the professor’s words. The lesson was all too familiar and despite knowing it Evelyn continued taking notes. It was better to be safe than sorry. The lecture rolled on until it was near time for the next period. Professor Johnston began her conclusion five minutes before they were to depart.

"Now then, before we leave, I want to give you some advice for the project you're going to do with your class-assigned Pokémon. It's up to you to decide how you want to organize and present your findings and your observations in your report that's due on the last day of class. I like detail and I like commitment to a routine. It shows responsibility. In your notes, explain the details of who, what, when, where, why, and how when it comes to observing your Pokémon. Ask yourself what they may be thinking or feeling. See how that changes when you release them outside instead of in your dorm. If you do it right and remain committed, I'm sure you'll find the experience both interesting and rewarding." Evelyn hoped so and couldn’t help but feel excited at the prospect. She would start on the project after classes were over or maybe she could start after lunch. "Well, that's it for today. Make sure you read chapter 1 and 2 of your textbooks before our next class, and do questions 1-10 at the end of the chapters! They'll help you when it comes to taking observation notes on your Pokémon!"

After jotting the assignment down Evelyn packed her stuff and made sure she pocketed the extra ball before heading out with the other students. Another thing she needed to quickly follow up on was meeting her group members. She was never really comfortable with walking up to and initiating conversation with random people, but she had to do what she had to in order to maintain her grades. With a quick look at her schedule, Evelyn maneuvered her wheelchair down the crowded hall towards her next class.

Paradoxe

Savannah Winters - Green

Savannah finished the last bite of her granola bar and tossed the wrapper into the trash can across the room. Per usual, Savannah's aim didn't miss. "I should play basketball, shouldn't I Kiki?" Savannah jokingly asked her Togepi. The Togepi remained neutral, but gave a nod just to stroke her trainer's ego. "That's what I thought. Ready for our first day?" Savannah never went to the academy's cafeteria for breakfast. They only got half an hour to eat, even less if you woke up late. She thought it was prudent to stock up on granola bars and breakfast for a nice private breakfast that didn't have a time limit. "All right, hop in." Savannah held out her black backpack for Kiki to snuggle in. She couldn't always have Kiki in her arms during class, so she gave her the next best thing. After Kiki was situated in, Savannah made sure she had everything she needed for her first day back, and made a beeline for the elevator.

Fortunately for Savannah, she had friends from last year in the Green House, so she walked with one of them to her first class. She compared schedules with her, and found that they only shared their third class together. Her friend, a blonde girl named Hannah, tried to give some encouraging words. "Cheer up, Sav. Maybe there'll be some cute boys in your classes this year." "Yeah, well, I just hope there's not a lot of those annoying first-year kids. Once they find out how boring this place can get, they'll stop bouncing around like this is heaven." Savannah replied in a cynical manner. "Maybe I'll see you at lunch, then?" Hannah asked, hoping her friend would cheer up. "Sure. Same table as last year?" "Yeah, unless the Reds take it for themselves." Hannah joked. They both hugged, and Savannah petted Hannah's Swablu, Bud, as a goodbye. They separated themselves, and walked to their respective classes.

Savannah took a reassuring deep breath before stepping into her first class. She had had Mrs. Johnston before, as a Chemistry teacher. She was the type of teacher that made you struggle to make good grades. It's not that she didn't like her students, it was actually on the contrary. She just believed in hard work and good focus. Hopefully being a returning student of her might score her some respect. As soon as she set foot, Savannah called out to the teacher. "Good morning, Mrs. Johnston!" Mrs. Johnston glanced up from her desk and returned the greeting. "Good to see you again, Miss Winters. Please take a Pokeball from the tray and find a seat. I'll be with you once the rest of the class is here." She was still as stern as ever. Savannah perused the remaining pokeballs and decided to close her eyes and pick one, hoping she would get something cute, like Kiki. Once she selected her Pokemon, Savannah spied an open seat in one of the middle rows and headed for it. She set her things down, and waited for the handful of students to make it to class. To pass the time, she took out one of her many gossip magazines, and read away.

Before long, the last few students made it to class, some of them making it right after the bell had rung. Too bad for them, Mrs. Johnston was strict about attendance. After everyone was seated, Johnston stood up in front of her desk, and started her class introduction. She did the routine about what Pokemon Research was about and then got to the part everyone was waiting for. "I know, most of you are wondering about the Pokéball you were handed as you came into class. This Pokémon will be the subject of your study for the semester. And don't lose them either!" So they were going to take care of a Pokemon and study them over the course of a few months. That was plenty of time for Savannah to make a lasting bond with the Pokemon. She had always had a natural skill for making friends with Pokemon, and she was ready to make good use of it. Mrs. Johnston then stated that each student had to write a 15-page report on the behavior of their pokemon, plus a group project. Of course that made Savannah worried, but it wasn't nearly as difficult as a project she had to do in the past. The professor finished her introduction and began her first lecture, which ended with a hefty homework assignment.

After a mediocre job of notetaking, Savannah had gotten through her first day of Pokemon Research. She had ten minutes before she had to be in her second class, so she decided to take a look at the Pokemon who would be sticking with her until the end of the semester. Stood up, clicked the button of the Pokeball, and released the creature inside of it. After the small flash that followed releasing a Pokemon subsided, Savannah was able to see what her Pokemon for the semester would be. And it. Was. Adorable! It looked a little baby bird covered with white feathers. In the middle of its forehead, a single red feather was attached. She excitedly took out her Pokedex and scanned her feathered friend. "Rufflet, the Eaglet Pokemon. They crush berries with their talons. They bravely stand up to any opponent, no matter how strong it is." Savannah put away her Pokedex and let out a girlish squeal. She decided to call the Rufflet back into its Pokeball and introduce him to Kiki when she got back to her dorm. But for now, she had to move on to her next class, "Natural Studies". She packed up her notebook, and quickly walked out hoping the bell wouldn't ring.

Alex sat lazily on his metal chair, which seemed to squeak every now and then at the movement of Alex trying to situate himself. He was handed a Pokeball from the teacher, which was part of their major class assignment, due at the end of the course. Mrs. Johnston told the class that no battling would be permitted with the Class Pokemon. Alex held the Pokeball in his hand, and then attached it to his belt for later. I'll check it out in my dorm... He thought. He was hoping it would be something easy, such as a Bidoof or something of the sort. Alex really wasn't the type to do work, and he really didn't want to do the 15-page report. Mrs. Johnston rambled on about the assignment, and Alex took a good look around the classroom. He scoped the classroom for a good sizing of the competition. He discreetly rolled his eyes around the classroom, and saw a girl, in the Green House, reading a Gossip Magazine. She's pretty cute. Alex thought, and quickly turned away before anybody could see, just in case anyone would get the wrong idea.

Suddenly, the teacher threw a curveball. There was a group assignment as well. Everyone was getting paired in groups of 4. Next thing Alex knew, he was with a Blue girl, a Green girl who was in a wheelchair, and a Yellow guy. Great... Serra, Evelyn, and Craig. Alex thought, repeating their names which were announced by the teacher. They were all higher ranks than Alex, so he felt slightly intimidated, but nothing he couldn't handle. He was going to show them how the Reds operate. Or least how Alex would work in a group. The class then proceeded with the lecture, and note-taking. Alex took out his note-book, and a pencil and jot down the notes. He wasn't the best at memorizing notes, but he wrote them down anyways, as it made him feel secure that he had some notes to skim from. Alex looked at the clock, which was ticking near the end of class, and right before the bell rang, the teacher spoke her last sentence of the class: "Make sure you read chapter 1 and 2 of your textbooks before our next class, and do questions 1-10 at the end of the chapters! They'll help you when it comes to taking observation notes on your Pokémon!"

"Great..." Alex mumbled, writing down the homework for the night in his book. The bell rang, which signalled the end of class. Alex looked at the clock, and saw that he had 10 minutes to kill before his next class. He packed up his bags, and headed out. He knew he should talk to his group members regarding what they were going to do for the project, but he didn't really want to nag on the subject. "I'll do it later." He said, as he continued walking, while looking at his schedule. "Natural Studies...must have changed the course name from Breeding Research." Alex thought. It made sense, considering they did more in the class than just learning about breeding. At least that's what he heard around campus.

Alex arrived at the next class, and was greeted by Dr. Patrick. Alex nodded, and took a seat, while waiting for the 10 minutes to be up. "Grab a textbook." Dr. Patrick said, as Alex got up and took a textbook. She then started to write something on the board. " Get to know your classmates." Alex read the board, and spoke at the same time. Alex was suddenly handed a sheet with 4 boxes form the teacher.

"I want you students to go around the class, and fill these boxes with info relating to your classmates. It's a good exercise to promote friendship." Dr. Patrick said.

"Uhhh...okay?" Alex said as he looked around. He was going to wait for someone else to make a move first.

Joel Cooper

It was the first day here at the academy for Joel well for him. He was looking just to be social and it didn't help that all the classes were like bunched up together. Joel may have quickly had breakfast after an early jog. Joel loved the early jogs because he was very active and that was to increase his body, strength, stamina and other physical attributes. There was not much of a selection of breakfast food, so Joel decided to just eat whatever as long as it was healthy. He was sitting with a bunch of Green guys from his dorm. They were just chatting about girls, sport and battling. Joel was really just a guy's guy that can attract a lot of women but he was very picky. He had an eye for this blonde girl named Hannah which he met and they immediately hit it off but he was not looking for her so far.

The first class was Pokemon research under Professor Naomi Johnston, who Joel and the guys thought was a total babe. "Dude, she's a hottie" Joel muttered to his mate next to him. What they needed to do was as explained by Prof. Johnston "That Pokémon will be your research for the semester," the professor told him. "All students will need to prepare a 15 page paper regarding the Pokémon's background, their traits, aspects, and their behaviors, meaning you would do well to take careful notes and do ongoing research throughout the semester. I feel the best way to learn these is through owning the Pokémon and observing it firsthand." "You already know most of the traits of your own Pokémon," Johnston told him.

"Boring" Joel sighed as he threw his Pokeball up in the air and caught. "Let's see what I got, I guess" he until he got given a stare by the professor. He was put in a group with a hot babe from the blue group, a green guys that he hung out with and another green girl that looked like she was just business. The professor finished off by saying "Make sure you read chapter 1 and 2 of your textbooks before our next class, and do questions 1-10 at the end of the chapters! They'll help you when it comes to taking observation notes on your Pokémon!" which Joel scribbled down not really caring. "Alright let's see what I got" he thought as he released his Pokemon which turned out to be a Staryu. "Ah huh...isn't that genderless? Go figure" Joel laughed.

Next up was Nature Studies or something like that 6 rooms nearby. Joel walked in and sighed "No hotties" he thought to himself but then again he didn't really look. My name is Dr Susan Patrick, for those of you who don't know, and I expect only the best of work from you - failure to produce work with high standards will mean immediate and harsh punishment." Joel sighed "I remember that form last time" he started to draw random stuff on his notebook because he just didn't really care, he was laid back and only was here for fun. "Grab a textbook" she said and then wrote something on the board. " Get to know your classmates." they were given sheets to write on. "I want you students to go around the class, and fill these boxes with info relating to your classmates. It's a good exercise to promote friendship." the Doctor said. "Blah blah blah...?" Joel thought thinking about well nothing. Everyone was looking around for someone to start off.

"Wouldn't it be less awkward if we just introduce ourselves?" Joel asked "I mean come on like anyone will want to get up anyway" Joel smirked with that smile that attracted a lot of attention. "Oh great, I have Mr. Cooper once again" Dr. Patrick sighed. "Hey Doc, you heard of me" he laughed. "So Mr. Cooper why don't you co-operate and let the class get to know each other" Dr. Patrick added as Joel smirked "Where's the fun in that"

Whatcha gotta say?
Evelyn Yvette Carson | 16 | Female | Green

Natural Studies, formerly known as Breeding Studies, was her next class. The course’s name change was quite curious, but Evelyn guessed by calling it Natural Studies that students were more inclined to not be wary of the course. After all, it was a class about breeding. Despite all the constant research and monitoring, there had yet to be a person to have seen Pokémon breed or lay an egg. Many have noted the numerous ritualistic courtships various Pokémon initiate while attempting to find a suitable mate, but no one has ever taken notes of the process beyond that. Despite the innumerable species recorded and studied, Pokémon continue to remain quite the enigma.

The hallway turned out to be noisy; a far cry from what it was that morning. Evelyn felt like some herded animal as she attempted to move with the flow of the crowd. As she continued onward to her class, tidbits of conversations entered her ear. From the way several of the students spoke, Professor Johnston wasn’t the only to have given ample homework on the first day. Their facial expression only confirmed her thoughts. Of course there were some who were lucky enough to get a teacher who did not give any and those same individuals had no trouble rubbing that fact into the faces of the sullen.

After locating the correct class without much trouble, Evelyn maneuvered her chair into the lab-like domain of Dr. Patrick. Unlike the previous room, this one was one level with tiled floors appearing recently cleaned and waxed. This allowed Evelyn to guide her chair towards the front and select a space at one of the thick, countertop desks nearest the board. Luckily there was enough space between the rows to allow her chair in without much problem. The rows were composed of large, individual desks that were shoved together in order to give the impression of single, extensive units, allowing for multiple people to be seated wherever the indentations were in the wooden base. Poster sized pictures of eggs and Pokémon littered the wall along with various other diagrams.

Evelyn selected a different notebook from her bag, which boasted an aerial image of Mt. Chimney, the region’s most iconic, natural wonder. She thought it would be appropriate for Natural Studies. While getting settled, Dr. Patrick said, "I want you students to go around the class, and fill these boxes with info relating to your classmates. It's a good exercise to promote friendship." At these words, Evelyn directed her attention to the board to see something scrawled on it: “Get to know your classmates,” the same words the teacher just uttered. That was one of the things she really didn’t care for when it came to the first day of school and would rather homework than give a grocery list of information about herself to random students. She had nothing that exciting to give. Regardless of whether or not other students felt this way, no one was budging and continued looking at one another in expectation or just made it obvious that they weren’t going to be the first ones. The feeling was must have been mutual elsewhere for a different student spoke up.

"Wouldn't it be less awkward if we just introduce ourselves?" the boy asked. Evelyn, along with others, turned towards the speaker who turned out to be a brown haired fellow who appeared about her age (give or take a year or two) and apparently was in the same house, evident by his green jacket. "I mean come on like anyone will want to get up anyway?" A smirk then graced the boy’s face, one that caused the girls there to start whispering amongst themselves. Evelyn could only guess about what. Indeed, he was an attractive guy…a really attractive guy…but that often meant trouble. Students with the features that could potentially make them models often traveled in packs and were often just as nasty as the not so nicer appearing individuals. However, despite her experience with bullies of all shapes and sizes, Evelyn wasn’t one to judge by appearance or view someone in a negative light if she could help it. She discreetly watched the teacher whose brows furrowed.

"Oh great, I have Mr. Cooper once again," Dr. Patrick sighed.

"Hey Doc, you heard of me!" the boy laughed, apparently enjoying the exchange and the teacher’s building annoyance.

"So Mr. Cooper why don't you co-operate and let the class get to know each other?" Dr. Patrick asked.

"Where's the fun in that?"

The woman decided it was futile to keep the dialogue going and decided to ignore the last question. Mr. Cooper, as she called him, did have a point though. It was one of those things that students really did not care to go first in. If it required public speaking, everyone desired to be last except for the brave few who knew it was unavoidable or those who loved being the center of attention or those who naturally excelled at speaking publicly. Mr. Cooper seemed to be a candidate for the second category, but had also decided to end his banter. Someone had to get the ball rolling. Just as the woman placed a textbook and a sheet of paper with four empty rectangles in front of Evelyn did the girl nervously raise her hand.

“Yes, Ms. Carson?” the woman asked in her acerbic voice, probably developed from years of teaching unruly students.

Evelyn bowed her head towards the table under Dr. Patrick’s lightly, frosty gaze. “Um…n-not to sound disagreeable either, but uh…th-that is a valid point—I mean about introducing ourselves,” she responded quietly, her heart hammering against her chest. Any courage she had was rapidly dissipating and the last statement came out sounding more like a question. “Th-that way, at the very least, we get to know everyone’s name?”

Dr. Patrick turned her head and Evelyn thought she heard the woman mutter something along the lines of “insolent students.” Evelyn began tugging at one of the braid strands, a habit she developed at some point in her life when she was extremely nervous, but continued keeping her eyes on the dark countertop. She wasn’t trying to sound rude or like she knew better. She just wanted to help to not only get things moving, but also get it out the way as soon as possible so they could get started on the actual assignment. Besides, moving in and out of the rows would be difficult with her wheelchair, and she doubted anyone would come near her anyway.

The woman answered aloud. “Well then, since there appears to be adamance about how to approach such a simple assignment, I don’t suppose you, Ms. Carson, would like to start things off.” Evelyn could only give a meek nod because her heart had lodged itself in her throat. Turning the wheelchair back on, Evelyn guided it to the center aisle before turning to face her classmates. All eyes were on her, seemingly a little more at ease now that someone had opted to go first and a bit curious to find out who this girl in the wheelchair was. She bowed her head again.

Evelyn tried to take several deep breaths, but it only made her throat hurt worse. “Uh…hello everyone,” she began, only slightly louder than when she had spoken to the teacher. “M-my name is Evelyn Yvette Carson. I’m sixteen years old and this is my third year at the academy.” She felt like she was trying to find proper footing for her voice. Some students began writing. “I was born and raised in Mossdeep City…” She tugged harder on her braid as her mind drew a blank on what to say next.

Then someone blurted, “You’re in a wheelchair!” Evelyn flinched. Some of the other students hissed at the one who stated the obvious.

Putting a small smile on her face, Evelyn managed to lift her head a bit in the direction of the speaker, though she remained oblivious as to whom it was. “Yes…I am.”

“What happened? You broke your legs or something?” another one, this time coming somewhere from her right.

“N-no…nothing like that,” she responded, her head sagging under the weight of embarrassment. “It’s a condition that suddenly developed. Lairosis…that’s what the doctors call it. It-”

“Is it contagious?” someone else interrupted. That question seemed to be on a lot of minds now as they waited expectnatly for the answer.

“N-no…it’s not. It’s not anything anyone can contract,” Evelyn meekly responded. Her heart continued slamming painfully against her chest. Although it was the truth, there were some who would not be satisfied until they got more information from an official medical source stating that the condition could not be passed like a virus. Until then, or even sometimes after then, those same ones would avoid her.

“Alright, that’ll do.” Evelyn was never happier to hear Dr. Patrick’s voice and knew the woman had to have some form of sympathy to save her from anymore questions about her condition. With a nod and small thank you, Evelyn returned to her table, head still bowed. She didn't do as well as she hoped, but felt much better about having gotten the introductions started.

Serra Layo – Blue

Serra immediately had a dislike of this class. As the professor went into lecture, she was busy writing down notes, barely keeping up with her pace of lecture. If one thing annoyed her, it was taking notes. She enjoyed a more hands on class than a note heavy class. She also didn’t like the prospect of a fifteen page report on the pokemon that they were handed at the beginning of the class. She found out that she would be working in a group with Alex Ganston, Evelyn Carson, and Craig Benton, all in their respective houses. She sighed as the work happy teacher gave them more homework at the end of the class. She definitely was going to get the pokeball she received scanned first and check the history of the pokemon before releasing it. She would ask the nurse when she had plenty of time to get this done.

She silently walked to her next class after checking her schedule map and immediately had to suppress from groaning as her next teacher was just as strict as the one she just left. She could already imagine the amount of homework she would be getting. With how things were looking up, she was beginning to slightly regret coming here to better herself. It definitely sounded like the option of going out and collecting eight badges in a region sounded a lot easier than all this school workload. It was as if she was going to a college meant for adults. She was only ten, she would still be at home dreaming of stuff, yet here she was, getting full of herself, thinking she could compete here in mostly boring schoolwork.

As more students came in, the professor started handing out sheets telling them to go around and get to know other students to promote friendship. She winced at this as she did not like telling much about herself as she probably would be asked a lot of questions concerning her parents. After two students raised their concerns, the professor took a different approach, still making it where the students still had to introduce themselves to the class. She watched the first person introduce herself as Evelyn Yvette Carson. She looked at her and had pity on the fact that she was in a wheel chair, even more so when she heard that she had a condition. It would definitely make raising pokemon hard and even harder when in a battle as she could be hit from a stray pokemon attack. She sympathized with her, but if she was going to work with her in the group project, she definitely would act like she had as much potential as anyone else. She sighed when she was done with her introduction and got up before the teacher could ask someone to go next.

She received a small nod from the professor before heading towards the front and facing the students. To her, it felt like she was in a heated battle, where the next moves could determine whether you would win or lose. She hid her nervousness and said in a forced calm voice, “Hello, my name is Serra Layo.”

Before she could continue, a student gasped and said, “Layo, the famous Layo family!?”

Serra sighed slightly and said, “Yes the famous Layo family. My mother was a famous coordinator before she retired and my father was a famous trainer before retiring from competitive battling.” She heard a few snickers and continued on with her previous statement before the outburst distracted her. “I am ten years old and this is my first year here. I hope that by studying here first and learning as much as I can, I will be prepared to face the roads when I head on my journey to collect the gym badges or ribbons. I have yet to decide on what pathway I want to take.”

She heard a few more snickers at her age and sighed before looking at the professor who nodded and she walked back to her seat before gently sitting down in it before collapsing into it completely. She felt relieved that hers was over. She felt like she was in a battle that was being aired. She wiped her forehead which had become slightly wet due to her being so nervous. She held a grimace inwardly as it meant that she got too nervous and actually sweated up there even though the room was pretty cool.

<---My fave PKMN
Alex watched as Evelyn went up in front of the classroom to introduce herself. “Uh…hello everyone, M-my name is Evelyn Yvette Carson. I’m sixteen years old and this is my third year at the academy. I was born and raised in Mossdeep City…” Shortly after, a few students asked questions about her condition, and if it was contagious and whatnot. Alex felt bad for Evelyn, and she looked really shy, being in a wheelchair and in such an awkward position, telling the class about herself. Evelyn didn't reveal much about her condition, but Alex honestly didn't mind, seeing as her condition was none of his business. He was just happy that at least he got to know a little bit about one of his groups members for Pokemon Research. Evelyn went back to her desk, and then went up another girl, coincidentally from his group.

"Hello, my name is Serra Layo." She spoke. Alex smiled, as a few people snickered at her age. It wasn't rare to see students her age at the academy but it wasn't all that common.

“Layo, the famous Layo family!?” Suddenly voice spoke out from the class.

“Yes the famous Layo family. My mother was a famous coordinator before she retired and my father was a famous trainer before retiring from competitive battling.” Alex had heard about the Layo Family, after all, they were famous. He saw her parents on TV occasionally, but never in real life. They are celebrities, also plenty rich. Alex always did want to see them in person, and this could have been Alex's chance, but he didn't want to tick her off, as Serra probably got requests like those all the time.

“I am ten years old and this is my first year here. I hope that by studying here first and learning as much as I can, I will be prepared to face the roads when I head on my journey to collect the gym badges or ribbons. I have yet to decide on what pathway I want to take.” The class clapped, as she went back to her seat. The teacher looked around the classroom, and saw Alex dazing off, and nodded at him, shaking him back to reality. He sighed, as he got up and walked to front of the classroom, and cleared his throat. Just as he was about to talk, he realized something. There was literally nothing interesting about him. Evelyn had her condition, Serra was the child of celebrities, and Alex was a nobody. He looked at the class, and took a breath.

"My name's Alex Ganston." He paused, and then looked at the teacher. " That's pretty much it." He said. The teacher looked at him, giving a dirty look, and the class just started to chuckled, and some of the students gave an obnoxious laugh. Alex looked at the class, and smiled, although feeling embarrassed and like a complete idiot. He couldn't help it. He wasn't much of a solo presentator, and he couldn't really think of anything interesting to add to his mini-bio.

"That's it?" The teacher said. "C'mon at least tell us where you're from, and your interests!" She said, annoyed with Alex's presentation, who to her, seemed like Alex was just getting attention. Alex rolled his eyes and sighed. This is stupid...I would have rather just written down the info... He thought, waiting for the class to stop their laughing. "Alright everyone, settle down." The teacher said, with everyone's attention soon back at Alex.

"My name's Alex Ganston..." He said again, and paused, with a few more chuckles and snickers from the class. "I'm from Lavaridge Town, and moved here because my old school shut down from lack of funds. It's my first year, and my interests are battling, music and art." He paused, then looked at the teacher. "That's it." He said, as the teacher smiled at him, and the class clapped, as if they were forced. He sat back down, and the class waited for the next student to come up.

Vintage much?
Joel Cooper

Joel waited to see if anyone introduced themselves. The first person was from his house, the green house. She was in a wheelchair meaning that she had some physical issues in his mind but also in his mind he could imagine driving around in that thing, that would have been really fun. “Um…n-not to sound disagreeable either, but uh…th-that is a valid point—I mean about introducing ourselves,” she seemed very nervous like she was scared of the Doctor. "Th-that way, at the very least, we get to know everyone’s name?” Joel knew that it was going to bite back at her and it was not going to be pleasant although being her without that bad of a reputation like Joel could in fact be helpful to her. “M-my name is Evelyn Yvette Carson. I’m sixteen years old and this is my third year at the academy.” she still sounded nervous. “I was born and raised in Mossdeep City…”

Everyone was asking questions about her wheelchair but Joel was more focused on swimming or surfing. He loved surfing as a hobby but there has not been much chance for it. The next person was a really young girl and again Joel was thinking about surfing because he didn't care. “Hello, my name is Serra Layo.” and then she said something about "I am ten years old and this is my first year here. I hope that by studying here first and learning as much as I can, I will be prepared to face the roads when I head on my journey to collect the gym badges or ribbons. I have yet to decide on what pathway I want to take.” which Joel's mind was just "Surfing" maybe he should have paid attention. Then again maybe he didn't need to.

The next person was a male. He introduced himself as "My name's Alex Ganston." and that's all well and good but what about him? "I'm from Lavaridge Town, and moved here because my old school shut down from lack of funds. It's my first year, and my interests are battling, music and art." after being egged on by the class. So he sat back down and people were just waiting for the next person.

Joel decided he might as well go for it. He stood up and just blurted out words. "My name is Joel Cooper. From Celedon City, 2nd year and I like having fun I guess" he then sat back down. Dr. Patrick wasn't pleased. "Tell us Joel, what was the first thing that happened when you arrived here last time" she remember something that happened previously. "The brunette in the broom closet. How was I supposed to know that the janitor used that room frequently to get stuff out". Dr. Patrick replied "No...wait what? I mean the time when your group managed to get a Koffing to use smokescreen in my classroom" she muttered to the class. "Oh yeah good times" he smirked. "So Mr. Cooper. What are you planning to do here?" Dr. Patrick asked. "I guess follow my aunt and be a Pokemon Trainer? I guess but can I finish now?" he asked as Dr. Patrick sighed and nodded. "Sweet" Joel sat down relaxing and thinking again about the broom closet incident.

Avenger Angel

Warrior of Heaven
Craig Benton - Yellow House

Craig decided against letting out the mystery Pokémon before making sure he was in a safe and enclosed area, knowing there was no telling what the creature inside might do. Last thing he wanted was for the Pokémon to run away and force him to chase him around the building as he was late for class. In truth, curiosity was what killed the Meowth and Pandora. It wasn't going to claim him too.

The next class, Natural Studies, was something that would be a lot easier for Craig, being mostly a study of berries and botany, easily things that can be researched and studied in a textbook without having to examine... a living creature. Dr. Susan Patrick was not a professor for humor, however. Craig hadn't taken her before, but he heard down the grapevine that she was strict and expected the best of the best. Craig was confident he would be able to deliver, and make a good impression at that.

Upon arriving in class, Craig saw the professor in question. A rather stern and elderly professor with her hair tied in a bun. She looked like she hadn't smiled in decades. Her original instruction was to go around the class and meet people, not something Craig was always out to do, being the introvert that he was. But in truth, no one really took the process seriously. Even if it turned out to be a group project, usually when the project was done and the semester was over, that was it. Very rarely did it turn into a long-term friendship.

She put one student on the spot, a girl named Evelyn Carson, confined to a wheelchair as the students in the rest of the class pestered her about her condition. To Craig, it was disgusting, and he refused to be a part of it. Next up was Serra Layo, part of the Layo family, who happened to be well-respected. Craig knew that probably resulted in her having higher expectations to fill now, something that might be tricky for the ten year old to accomplish so early. But then again, she still had plenty of time.

Craig recognized Alex Ganston from the previous class, and he was rather brief about his initial introduction before mentioning to the class that he was originally from Lavaridge Town and that it was his first year here. Following him was Joel Cooper, a second year student from Celadon City who apparently had an incident involving a Koffing in her classroom.

Craig figured he might as well go up next.

"Hello, my name is Craig Benton, and this is my third year at the academy," He spoke plainly and nonchalantly. "Although I like the cultural aspect of Pokémon, I'm actually more interested in studying law to become a lawyer in the future. Nice meeting you all, and I look forward to working with you."

He liked to keep it plain and simple, and leave it off on a good note. He was slightly happy about the fact Professor Patrick didn't bring up any past incidents involving him, although he was pretty sure he didn't leave anything that she could have put on him in a negative connotation.

"Thank you, Craig," the professor told him. "Who else would like to volunteer to introduce themselves?"

In truth, Craig just wanted to get going with the class already. Introductions were fine, but no one ever remembered them two minutes after they were spoken. In the meantime, he acquired the necessary textbook, quickly taking note that it had been used by a previous student who had already highlighted some of the text. It was a bit convenient, except for the fact some parts he didn't necessarily agreed on. But, it was better than getting nothing at all.

Charizard King!
Steve Smith

Steve had gone with the rest of the students to the next class.

The professor was the same one from last year: Dr. Patrick.

"Hello Mr Smith." She said, already frowning at him." She knew that he was likely to mess around in her lessons so she kept a cautious eye on him.

"Hi Patrick. Starnge isn't it? Your last name could be a guys first name. Funny that." Steve said, enjoying the annoyed look on her face.

"Please take a seat." She said. Smirking, Steve took a seat, inspecting the mystery pokeball.

"Well I can't use you in battle... But what are you?" He whispered to himself.

Then the professor said everyone had to introduce themselves. One by one they introduced themselves, including a girl in a wheelchair who was bombarded by rude questions, the guy who he had briefly talked to before the boat trip and a member of the super famous Layo family.

The guy Steve sat next to last lesson introduced himself. He was called Craig and he talked about looking forward to workng with them all. 'He won't feel the same about me after a week' Steve thought.

"Who else would like to volunteer to introduce themselves?" The teacher said after craig sat down.

"I'll go Professor Patrick!" Steve volunteered. He stood up.

"Hello, I'm Steve Smith and I come from Rustboro City. i'd rather not talk about my past." his face going serious. "I'm 15 years old. When I'm older I wish to take over the world." And he sat down.

"What do you really want to be when you grow up. or the words try to grow up in your case." She add sarcastically.

"i want to be a Pokemon Master. If that fails be a ghost specialist, maybe even a gym leader or a champion. And thats all you need to know about me, because the rest of me is far to interesting for you all." He didn't mean to offend anyone with the last sentence but anything could happen
