Resistance Initiation Day
Pallet Town
Vincenzo "Vinnie" Bimbi
Lightning streaked across the pitch black sky, illuminating the small area just South of Viridian City known as Pallet Town. The sun was nowhere in view, despite it being the early morning. Thunder roared and a tired Vinnie began to awake. He cracked open his eyes and saw the stormy weather. He groaned and turned over in his bed, attempting to fall back asleep. The thunder crashed louder this time, loud enough to fully wake Vinnie and cause him to jump right out of his bed. Slowly, he moped over to the light switch and flicked it on. Lamps snapped on and Vinnie squinted his eyes in response. Ever so slowly, he dragged his seemingly lifeless body downstairs to find something to eat. Along the way, he managed to trip over his backpack which he had carelessly left in the hall the night before.
"I knew I should've went to bed earlier," Vinnie complained to himself, creeping down the wooden stairs that led into the kitchen. Upon arriving in the kitchen he proceeded to eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast along with a glass of juice. Once again, he headed towards the stairs and began to walk up them. As he reached the top, a hand placed itself on his shoulder. Vinnie jumped back, almost falling down the steps. It was not the intruder Vinnie had thought it was, but simply his father.
"Vinnie, you're going to be late! It's ten-thirty! You need to be there by eleven!" His father exclaimed, as he hurried down the steps. "Get your things packed now!" Vinnie obeyed and proceeded to his room. He grabbed the backpack off of the messy floor and began to quickly pack it, as he now realized, the predicament he was in. Pokeballs, deodorant, clothes, books, a wallet, and several other odds and ends were shoved into the small army green backpack. By the time he was done packing, the bag looked about to burst. Vinnie quickly got dressed into his shorts and t-shirt and snatched his Pokeball containing Sparky off of his dresser. Vinnie shoved his glasses on his face, put on his watch, and swiftly donned his hat.
"Bye mom, I love you!" Vinnie shouted as he ran down the steps, backpack in tow. His mother came out of the room and dashed after him. "Son, wait!" She called. Vinnie stopped and turned to his mother. By now his younger sister was also awake and trotted down the steps. His father observed him from the kitchen table. Then his mother spoke. "Please be careful Vinnie. It's very dangerous out there," she said, tears beginning to form in her eyes. Vinnie hugged his mother and nervously walked toward the front door. A moment of silence occurred, and the family all starred at each other. There was no need for words, they were all thinking the same thing. A blast of thunder brought them back to reality and Vinnie dashed out the door into the pouring rain.

Professor Oak's Laboratory
Vincenzo "Vinnie" Bimbi
Vinnie burst through the lab doors, panting and out of breath. After all, he had just run quite a ways from his home in a terrible storm. His clothes were now drenched and Vinnie felt quite uncomfortable. Great... he thought. Now I'm stuck in these soaking wet clothes. Suddenly, an older man looked his way and motioned for an aide to escort Vinnie. A man in his mid thirties walked over to Vinnie. He wore a white lab coat and reflective glasses. "Please follow me this way," He spoke in a rather monotone voice. Vinnie followed the aide through main hallways and observed the doors with odd labels. "Evolution Studies", "Genetic Tests", and "Artificial Pokémon" were just some of the many rooms that they swiftly moved passed. The aide stopped in front of a large steel door at the end of the hallway and began to grab a key from his pocket. However, Vinnie bumped into him, as he was too busy observing the lab itself. "I'm sorry," mumbled Vinnie, his voice somewhat sleepy. The aide glared back at Vinnie and continued to open the large doors before them.
"Please, step inside. You will wait here until the other new recruits arrive," said the aide as he motioned for Vinnie to move forward. The room that he thought would be spectacular was actually very bland. The walls were pure white, as well as the two couches and several chairs and tables. About the only lively objects in the room were a small fountain and a pair of small plants. The aide began to leave the room, but suddenly spun around and headed back towards Vinnie. "Here you go, it's a list of the other recruits that should be within your group," the aide said. He then promptly spun around and exited the room, leaving Vinnie alone to think for a bit.
"Let's see," he said, glancing at the list. He moved his finger along, attempting to find the group with his name. "There it is!" he exclaimed. A look of nervousness appeared over his face. "Holly, Perrine, Katrina," he whispered to himself. Why did I have to get stuck with a bunch of girls! He angrily thought. Why do I always get so nervous around them? Oh this is going to suck. Vinnie glanced at the list once more and a sigh of relief appeared over his face. Well, at least another guy, Cristiano, is in the group. I just hope he isn't a jerk. He reached into his pocket and grabbed the Pokeball containing Sparky. He tossed the ball into the air and out popped the small Joltik after a brief white flash. Sparky climbed onto Vinnie's head and calmly sat there. "Well little buddy, guess it's just me and you for now," he said, chuckling at the playfulness of the little bug. Vinnie's solitary was interrupted by the sound of two pairs of footsteps approaching the door. They stopped and the handle began to open. Well, here's the moment of truth. Vinnie thought, removing Sparky from his head.
