I believe that info. accidentally got left out of my previous post.
Speaking of which, I'm not sure if this will help for the middle evolution, but the full binomial name of the Sea Otter is Enhydra lutris
So..."Enhydrate" or "Enhydrot," maybe?
As for my thanks, I'd like a Sugimori-style commission of one of my Gen. V ideas, but I'm still not sure which one, yet...I greatly appreciate that, because my drawing skills srsly blow chunks. Fo' realz. Heh...

Ottrewa is water, it's evolutions are going to either be solid water or water/electric (I haven't finalized the designs yet)

For me it looks like water/flying (coz of the Altaria styled collar around it's neck).

I got one for the Otter pokemon's middle evolution, even though it is kind of dumb.

Otter + Aqua = Ottaqua

I came up with a name I like for the middle evo: Hydrottr.

The first evo still needs a name, though, and you guys are welcome to keep trying as far as evolutions of other starters and such, so keep 'em coming. <3

Artemi, just let me know what you want when you decide. If you would like, I could do sketches of a few of your region pokemons, and line + color the one you like best.

I'm not sure I know what you're asking as far as how I did them..

I used a program called SAI Paint Tools for the Sugimori art. SAI does pretty much all of the work as far as the lines and such. oxo
I drew the sprites in MS Paint and made them into transparencies using GIMP 2.

Beautiful artwork, beautiful sprites. You are very talented.
Designs are very creative, cute and simple.

But you say that Firebrat on based on a bat, though it looks rather like a furry dragon/imp to me, but it's your choice on what it looks like.

For name suggestions, I'd say for Otterwa's line, I got Ottorm [Otter + Storm], and for Muttl, I got Canrene [Canine + serene].

As how I thought up the fakemon..I don't really know. I just sketch out the basic idea of what I want and then start adding stuff. I'm rather partial to spots, as you may be able to tell.

Kiogrey, you hit the nail on the head, bravo. Firebrat is an eventual fire/dragon typing combo.
As for your names, I switched up your name Canrene for Serenine, which I will be using for the final grass starter evo. I'll give you credit for it.

These sprites are really nice, and I'm really jealous. I wish I had a natural talent for spriting, or I might be able to help. I'd love to be involved in this. As it is, I'm not very good, but whatever, back to the focus of the thread.

I've always loved otters, so I an definitely in love with that idea. If this was made into a game I'd probably go for the otters as opposed to fire types as I usually do. I'm not overly fond of the idea of a fire bat, as it sort of breaks the "cute" tradition for starting Pokemon. Saying this, you've made an extremely good looking sprite. And Fire/Dragon is making it a bit too Uber for my tastes. Even Charizard, who is meant to be a dragon, is not a dragon type. As for the Muttl line, I see very little wrong there. Maybe cuten up the eyes a little, but I'm not sure whether or not the lazy eyes are intentional and you think they look better.

I have some names, as well.

2nd in the Muttl line --> Barroot (Bark and Root)
2nd in the Firebrat lines --> Batash (Bat and Ash) or maybe Ashbat
