Pokemon Scarlet/Violet - Recent Happenings Thread

Det. Viper

That’s Detective Viper to you
I had the most rotten luck today; I'm going through the Area Zero mission in the base game and as I was approaching the third research station, a Shiny Venomoth spawned just as I was stepping forward and set off the cutscene, and of course by the tine it had ended all of the spawns had reset and the Shiny was gone. That has really boiled my blood, and I feel as if I should spend some time doing raids and gathering Herba for Shiny hunting sandwiches to make up for it.
I had a similar situation. There’s a building in Area Zero encased by tera crystals but Pokémon can spawn inside the crystals making them impossible to reach. I took a screenshot for my friends for proof but a shiny Iron Bundle spawned inside the crystals and I was doomed to stare at it before I reluctantly walked away from it.

I keep getting my butt kicked by that Ogrepon trainer squad. My team still isn't strong enough. This blows.

I just finished my first battle with the Loyal Three earlier today. After making it back to Dreaded Den, I was able to beat Munkidori with my Tinkatink and it evolved into Tinkatuff after the fight. I had my Poision Heal in the back just to be safe, but I really wanted to try using Tinkatink since I imagined it becoming friends with Ogerpon when they first met at the festival and it did a lot better than I thought it would.

Now I have Ogerpon traveling around with me so she can bond with the rest of my main team as we take on the Loyal Three to get the other masks back.

Current Team:
  • Julio (Crocalor)- lv. 29
  • Arantxa (Shiny Spidops)- lv. 29
  • Ivete (Tinkatuff)- lv. 30
  • Kelly (Primeape)- lv. 29

I got a lot done today. I finished the story and caught The Loyal Three & Ogerpon. I also obtained a Dipplin & a Sinistcha. I'm currently working on catching the 150 Pokémon from the Kitakami Dex for the Perrin quest so I can get Bloodmoon Ursaluna.

I'm just wondering how many other side quests is there for me to do in Kitakami? I think I might start The Teak Mask on my Scarlet save sometime next week.
There's the restoration of the Loyalty Plaza.
I know people say you can do the Billy and O'Nare side quest to get the funds, but I only fought them once, and could easily fill the goal.
With that noted, you can fight Billy and O'Nare for some commodity items, and you sure get a lot of it.

I caught Ogerpon and gave it the fire-type mask, so I guess I'm done with the DLC. Right now I'm starting to play tera raids.

Are you talking about the strongest trainers of the various areas of the new region? Those who have 75+ level Pokémon?

I got home from work and spent a few more hours catching and evolving Pokémon to get to the amount required to start Perrin's quest. I done the quest and caught the Bloodmoon Ursaluna. I've now obtained all the new Pokémon introduced in the Teal Mask.

Yeah, those. I have a brand new team I'm training, so I'm still not strong enough to take them on.

Did a second playthrough for Teal Mask and I'm fighting Geeta now. How is she the Top Champion when all other Champions have to beat her to become Champions? She says she never holds back, so doesn't that make her the weakest Paldean Champion?

Went after the Loyal three, Okidogi went down fairly easily, I caught him on my third throw in a Dusk Ball. Munkidori... Well, I DID battle it, and got it down to one HP with my False Swiper, but it wasn't necessary since I decided to catch it in a Master Ball. I mean, come ON, it's purple and has an "M" on it, it's like... perfect! I accidentally knocked Fezandipiti out on my first attempt, so I'll try again a little later. I think Fezandipiti is gonna be trouble since it has Roost, and I plan to catch it in either a Heal Ball or a Primer Ball I think both have the same catch rate as a normal Pokeball... so hopefully I'll get lucky.

I love the smell of cows farting in the morning.
You can call me insane, but I’m training everything up to level 100 in preparation for the Indigo Disk.

Other than that, I recently caught a shiny Johtonian Wooper, Houndour, Breloom, Ariados, Mimikyu, Annihilape, Grimmsnarl and Mightyena. All of them are shiny.

I’ve been taking on the Loyal Three in their titan forms for the last two days using one of my main team for each of them since I kind of see them as positive parallels
  • Crocalor- Takes on Munkidori since it started off as a “not-so-smart” Fuecoco but had a lot of determination
  • Primeape- Takes on Okidogi because she has a love for completions and constantly strives to surpass her limits and become stronger
  • Spidops- Takes on Fezendipiti because she sees herself as special & amazing (like a pseudo legendary or Ash Greninja), but learns to use her own natural abilities when coming to grips with reality
Munkidori was fairly easy to beat , though the battle lasted longer than I wanted since it had a Sp. Def boost and my Crocalor is a special attacker. Okidogi was definitely the strongest so far since it first took down Primeape with a crit low sweep, but after bulking up and terastalizing into a Water type Primeape was able to come back and eventually take Okidogi down.

I’ve also been walking to each destination so that Ogrepon can bond with each of my Pokémon via the Let’s Go feature. I’m really just waking around with them and trying to take pictures with them (which is a lot harder than I thought it’d be), but it’s fun traveling with Ogrepon since it feels like she’s warming up to the rest of the team. Now it’s off to the next destination to on where Spidops will battle Fezendipiti

decided to go for a second run with the teal mask. this time if my violet walkthough.
since this has an all Eeveevolution teal, I just went for it as my main team.
ended up catching Ogerpon with a dive ball this time. (might do dusk and nest ball in other walkthroughs someday)
Now doing a 3rd playthough. planned to catch this mext Ogerpon with a dusk ball.

off topic news, My Pokemon go plus+ stopped working last night and couldn't use it on Pokémon go today. (had to resort to my old one for the job) and founded out there is a reset button on the back. (had to use a toothpick to restart it.)

I've been up to the Crystal Pool and battled the Milotic. Then I decided to do Perrin's task in the Timeless Woods, and caught Ursaluna after a tough battle - it knocked out 5 of my Pokémon with its Calm Mind/Blood Moon combo, and I had to sacrifice my sixth to use a Revive. I also received Hisuian Growlithe.

I used Water-mask Ogrepon with Synthesis, Power Whip, Ivy Cudgel, Supwrpower and had an ultimate BM Ursaluna Vs Great Tusk finale as a nod to Donphan and Ursaring being counterparts in gen 2.

I have my best catcher since Treaure Ruins and Paradox times - Scream Tail with Sing. It was as helpful as always:) even more now against loyal trio as I had a choice to use Dazzling Gleam to cause little damage or Psychic to cause more damage or Hyper Voice for medium damage:)

I just started The Teal Mask in my Scarlet game and played up to the fight for Ogerpon with Kieran. I defeated him and left it there for the day. I also transferred the Pokemon from the Kitakami Pokédex that I caught in my Violet game to make it easier to get my second Bloodmoon Ursaluna. I'm really wanting to know when The Indigo Disk is releasing. I hope we get the date announced soon.

You! Me! Rivals! Yes?
I did the Bloodmoon Beast side quest today, while Ursaluna was pretty strong and knocked out two of my team members, I did manage to defeat and catch it, but now I have one Bloodmoon Ursaluna sitting in my Home boxes I don't think I'll do this side quest again in future playthroughs.

Also, I learned of a way to get some Herba Mysticas in Kitakami: at the picnic table near Kitakami Hall, there's a guy who asks to see all 19 types of table cloth and offers to make matching chairs for each one, and he also gives you two of each Herba Mystica. I have most of them, but there's one table cloth you can only get after beating the Cortondo Olive Roll mini-game in under two minutes and 30 seconds. And let me tell you, that is extremely difficult, or at least for me it is, after eight attempts I still haven't managed it.

Fezandipiti acquired! I was actually able to catch it in the ball I wanted (Heal Ball). I threw about twelve balls before she finally gave up the fight and decided to join the team!

I've been using Gallade for catching since gen 4. I like the combo of Swords Dance, False Swipe, and Hypnosis.
