Where’s this bug people are speaking of? I can’t access the link!

Cramorant is too cute for words!
Maybe since it’s a peanut bug, Grass/Bug or Ground/Bug. I’d love to have a full Ground/Bug evolution line. If it’s real, could also see Dragon/Bug based on the design. Feel like it would learn Bite, Crunch, and the elemental Fangs. Hope it’s real, looks like an awesome design.

I think that having less than 7x new Pokemon is a joke.. Hope it wont happen

Agreed, a new region for a generation would have barely any Pokémon to sufficiently establish its identity compared to the other main regions.

I didn’t like the proportion of SM’s new Pokémon at all, with too many legendaries/part-legendaries introduced in a small number of new Pokémon in total. XY’s was slightly better, but still comparably not as balanced as previous regions.

It would be great if at least one more new generation would have 100 new Pokémon or more like before XY. But that doesn’t seem likely...

Everlasting

Everything stays.
I like that new bug a lot!! Bugs with a long 'mandible' that can crunch are adorable.
I'm honestly hoping this leak is real so that we can look forward to new information, as unlikely as it sounds. Although that deleted tweet about Gym Masters seems to suggest something is coming around the corner...

Yeah I've seen this rumor and it does look interesting however I would be cautious because while in some ways it might seem similar to the chart that the Chinese Riddler had shown that hinted at the new pokemon we were receiving, it is possible that this could be fake and someone just created this and use the thing the Chinese Riddler made as a base to work off of.

However there is the chance this could be real, but in all honestly at this point we would have to wait until more pokemon get revealed before this could start gaining credibility. Like for instance if when we start getting more gen 8 pokemon revealed they are matching up with this then it could give this some credibility that it might be real, however at this point it could easily be fake. Another thing to consider is the fact that currently there is that supposed new bug type pokemon going around and if that bug type pokemon turns out to be real then that would obviously hurt this as I don't see any spots on here for that particular bug type pokemon.

Okay, but what, if any, credibility does this source hold? I could whip up a list just like this one in my spare time with ease (or I could just use my custom Pokémon from my fan fiction) and post it anomalously. The fact that this list exists, in of itself, is not reason to discuss it, so why give this even the slightest bit of attention?

What is the difference between Ruffled posting a youtube video and everyone speculating here/posting wishlists in this forum?

There's a couple different issues with videos like that. (Disclaimer: I didn't actually watch the video, and I don't know anything about that particular Youtuber, and am generalizing across similar video game-based Youtube videos.)

The biggest problem is that videos like that perpetuate these so called "leaks" that almost always end up false. On forums like these, us discussing unfounded speculation has no harm. It's stated, it's either supported or refuted, maybe it's discussed a little, and it's done. Seen by no more than maybe 100 people, and no one takes it as fact. But big Youtubers tend to have audiences in the thousands or even hundreds of thousands. The audience is much broader to an extreme degree. By the sheer amount of people seeing it, there will be more people mistakenly believing it as fact, and even more people passing it on to others (regardless of if they believe it or not), which further compounds the problem. And, if we're being honest, "leaks" with no actual ground to stand on just shouldn't be given the attention of an audience that big. It just isn't deserved. We're giving attention to people who actively set out to trick others, and that's messed up.

Then there's the misinformation (or "click-baiting," if you'd rather). For example, this video starts its title with "New 90+ PokéDex for Pokémon Sword and Shield." Yes, it does say rumor in all caps in the title, but only so far into the title that most Youtube displays will cut that part off. Combine that with the thumbnail showing pictures of two "new" Pokémon, and this guy makes it look like he has actual news to report. This guy is actively trying to trick you into watching his video. Admittedly, it's far from the worst I've seen, but it still exists, and is a big part of videos like this one in general. No such trickery exists in forum-based speculation.

And that problem comes from another problem, which is the monetization. I don't know about this guy specifically, but most big Youtubers these days tend make a living at least partially off of Youtube. I don't know about you, but I really don't think anyone should be paid to bring attention to pieces of information that are almost certainly false. If it's actual news, sure, as that's helpful, but making money for making videos about this kind of baseless junk is just wrong. Meanwhile, no one on forums is being paid to speculate.

The short version is that videos like that from a big Youtube channel can do much more harm than us speculating, and exist in a morally gray area.

I'll give you one thing though. The two are no different in the fact that the person bringing up the information, whether forum-user or Youtuber, really should ask themselves first "Is there any actual reason why people should believe this supposed leak?" If the answer is no, then there's really no reason to make the video or forum post.

Once again, this looks too much like a Qwilfish backwards to make me feel confident this isn't a fake. It could totally be real and just a coincidence but just look at it

Qwilfish.jpg

The legitimacy of the "leak" aside, I really don't see a strong resemblance between the two. Yes, there are some similarities, but so many Pokemon have strong similarities. I don't think the fact that this potential bug Pokemon has small bumps on it means it is inherently an edited Qwilfish...
