Thanks and I agree, it gets annoying having to press B the whole time, especially when trying to play one-handed while using my laptop (I multi-task).
Yeah I definitely agree. It affects my ability to shiny hunt random encounters for the very same reason.

I hope GF stop this nonesense about mixed attack starters. Decidueye for example would have been beneficial having his SpAt and Speed stats swapped especially since he gets access to Nasty Plot anyway.

After 8 generations surely everyone knows the physical/special split by now and how it works.

If the makers will follow this pattern, the next region has a cold climate like Sinnoh:

Kanto: modern/urban
Johto: traditional/cultural
Hoenn: warm/tropical
Sinnoh: cold/northern
Unova: modern/urban
Kalos: traditional/cultural
Alola: warm/tropical
generation 8 games: cold/northern

I wasn't aware of that Canada-France-Hawaii telescope. Now with that in mind the posibility that the next region is based on (a part of) Canada is even more obvious. If not, I can see Alaska, Scandinavia or a part of Russia as possible candidates.

I also have a few name suggestions for the new games:

Earth & Air - theme is width and height plus the fact these are the other two of the four elements together with water and fire
Plus & Minus - positive and negative energy (with megas or regional variants for Plusle and Minun)
Up & Down - happiness and sadness
History/Past & Future - as mentioned before in this topic
Purple & Orange - if they return to the traditional colour theme

Call of Fate
lol, sounds intriguing.

I'll probably be dying...I mean playing Zelda Breath of the Wild and Spider-man after getting tired of LGP/E. Maybe I'll also get around to beating the dozens of games from previous consoles, lol. I to this date haven't beaten Mega Man 8 (the only game in the series I own).

I'm sure that would cause a riot, lol. Then again, Game Freak does have a bad habbit of dropping good features. Like wasn't there a button in HS/SS where you could run without holding down B? (mine was stolen so I can't check).
The quality of life features are really great-as long as they don't feel wrong in the context of the franchise. And the only real flaw of the HMs is the fact they take up moveslots, otherwise it is a perfect demonstration of the Pokemon World's theme.
It's irrelevant whether Water type is good or not. I don't want the game to make me put one on the team just to progress, especially now that we have a much better alternative (imho) in ride Pokemon. If I don't like any of the regional water types (or other Pokemon that learn surf) if I simply like other Pokemon better, if I want to focus on specific types, then the game should let me do that.
It is a horrid alterative because using rental Pokemon in a franchise about trainers getting to explore the world thanks to their Pokemon is just completely wrong. And if you want to use a monotype team, then you're deliberately handicapping yourself, which is a bad idea by definition. In Alola, you don't need a Surfer yet you still pretty much have to use a Water-type, courtesy of Kiawe, Olivia and Hapu.

Eh, I wouldn't say you HAVE to use a water type. Yes, it's easier, but not a requirement by any means.
I'm curious to know what new alternative will exist. More region-specific pokemon and Z-moves? Something else? If we're going totally crazy, there was a pokemon manga where the trainer actually combined with the pokemon to make it stronger, and Ash kinda did this with Greninja (although he was still physically there).

The problem I have with this perspective is that you should be able to formulate your team as you please. Ride Pokemon - even with the incredibly annoying, dumb-looking outfit that came with them in Alola - make that possible. You go on an adventure with your team in your way. Example: You're playing a Steel-type specialist with little access to Water species? No problem, we've got you covered. The actual battles are supposed to be where the challenge lies in type-restricting oneself, not getting through the overworld physically.

Kanto is love. Kanto is life.
Looking forward for this. Especially new Pokemon ,new forms and probably something new like Mega, Z move or maybe even new type.
As for names I'd say; Pokemon Future and Past or Light and Dark.

Except that's, like, just your opinion. You can't claim for every single other player that it's "completely wrong!!!1!!2" only because you don't like it. It's not an objective wrong, it's your subjective "wrong"

Well, of course I'm making things harder for myself if I'm doing a monotype run. That's the point of it. What were you thinking why I was doing it? Because I thought it would make the game easier? And again, it's not objectively wrong only because it contradicts what you think the game should be played like.
And only because you need a water type to defeat Kiawe, Olivia or Hapu, doesn't mean that other people can't beat them without one. All those types have additional weaknesses besides water. I've done runs in Alola and Kalos completely without water types and during my first run in Alola I had 4 fairy types and nothing that was strong against steel, and I still managed with choosing the right moves and exploiting secondary weaknesses.

Finally, none of the HM slaves I used in earlier games ever felt like "my" Pokemon, they might as well have been rentals that prevent me from having one of my actual, properly raised Pokemon with me. Woooo.

As I have described before, the ride Pokemom make perfect sense in-lore. Ignoring how much more convenient it is. Let people create the teams they want, you can beat the game with any combination, the exception to that is requiring HMs which only certain Pokemon can learn, and they waste a move slot that can be used for, in many cases, something much more useful.

I'll summarize what I'd like from Generation 8 in bullet-point, since it is too early to discuss based on the little information we received:
  • Plot like BW, SM.
  • Brand new Pokemon around 80-100, I wouldn't like to see a design-mess Pokemon like BW introduced for the sake of reaching 150's.
  • If possible, introduce new evolutions of the past Pokemon as 'brand new' Pokemon.
  • For them to truly understand and implement what it means to create a Pokemon game for veteran fans.
  • Not to remove features from the past games, including LGP/E: Don't remove over-world Pokemon encounters and following Pokemon.
  • An attractive Online Hub (PSS over Festival Plaza) and Battle Facility (Frontier/PWT over Tree/Tower).
  • Post-Game story that doesn't finish within 2 hours; make them rewarding such as BW: You finish N and Ghetsis, but have to actually train and reach 70's from 50's if you'd like to beat Alder and become Champion.
  • Convenience over complexes: Implementing features similar to PokeRide to remove HM existence and etcetera.
  • Make every Pokemon usable: Mega's just overpowered the already-powerful Pokemon, Z-Moves were fair to increase the utility of Pokemon such as Eevee. Implement a system where a properly-trained Dunsparce can be viable in-game, excluding Battle Spot/VGC due to tiers.
  • Make past characters relatable like SM: Burnet.
  • To have two different default characters based on age: 10's for kids, 16-17's for teenage/adults.
  • Interesting regions with stories: From UK to Scandinavia or Africa.
  • Implement a facility to play sports and then let it use a Health Data to track your record, very much like Apple Health app. while you gain IG rewards.
That is all I can list at the moment. While it is a wishful thinking and I learned not to overly optimistic when it is about GameFreak, they surprised me with their confident interviews lately. I'm impressed with LGP/E so far, so why 2019 wouldn't surprise me even more?

Whatever country they choose for the next region, make it big and explorable and not a straight A to B line like Unova. Something like Sinnoh again would be perfect. I want them to take it to the next step and make it a big an full explorable region like Zelda BotW (but without being able to get everywhere in the region since the start). I would like something like 40 routes + 10 post-game routes and 20+ towns with many dungeons and special places. Snow fields, volcanos, dessers, mountainous routes etc.

Also since LGPE seems to be designed to be easy, make the 8th gen more difficult. Leader with more than three Pokemon already early in the game, high level and type/move coverage etc.

I am okay with animated cutscenes in the game, but only if there are only a few and without them dragging the plot like some old chewing gum. And especially no "tutorial" part like the first two hours of Alola.

About 100 new pokemon with unique types and abilities. No pokemon looking and playing almost like a past pokemon like the typical Normal/Flying early routes bird with mediocre attack and high speed. Change things up for those or at least give them a good second type.

Also since we're almost past E3, I am a bit confused about how they're currently handling the advertisement. They already announced games for 2019 and once again said that these games are the teased ones from last years E3, so I would've expected that they would say (not show!) something about these games to build up a hype. Probably not because of LGPE but still. I would like them to show something like a new Pokemon like Lucario was already shown almost two years before DP was released. And even Zoroark got revealed before BW was announced. There are rumors about new Eevee evolutions in M21 so if we're getting another one then they could reveal it before the movie launches. Or at least revealing the names of the 2019 games so we have at least something to speculate.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to try to market the 2019 games - even just a little - if it comes at risk of overshadowing exposure for LGPE. That's probably why they're only saying that these games exist, and nothing else.

That's true, Sega made that infamous mistake with the Sega Saturn and the system was never able to recover. It's never good to advertise future games before the current one has even released.

Since Canada is a cold place, your theory just might be right. However, it is such a boring place IRL with not much to see so they would have to be very creative when coming up with a region for it that is actually interesting and not overtly mundane.

I could totally get behind a pokemon game like these.

The old and forgotten features I would like to see return would be:
  • Difficulty setting. This is a must for a hardcord pokemon fans.
  • Some way of implementing the pokenavi plus feature of having the pokemon that are in the route appear on the screen as a checklist.
  • Some tournament format that lets you rebattle trainers from the region. The PWT was amazing.
  • rebattling literally every pokemon trainer in the game. The vs seeker was the most amazing ideas ever and it's been all be abandoned.
    • My thought is that in the 2019 games pokemon trainers should not be just standing in one place in the games. They should be actively walking around from a locations to locations. Once you battle the trainer they actually go to the pokemon center and then come back to their walking path within a hour of game time.

The other, and probably even bigger reason, is that they likely don't have much in the way to show or tell at this point anyway.

Well, for myself, I hope the rideable pokemon/following pokemon return, I've always liked that. Overworld pokemon are less interesting however.

As for a name, if they keep the Old vs New idea (if it isnt already the basis of LGPE), the names could be:

Legacy & Destiny

As for what kind of region... canada would be nice (I'm from there). I would personally be interested in a less urban/advanced region. More wilderness. The old vs new could be a vaguely colonial mise-en-scene, where faraway corps (destiny) try to exploit a region to modernize its traditional ways (legacy). With expeditions deep into wild regions to hunt for rare pokemon... but I'll admit it's more of a personal wish list than anything else.

I like the idea of being able to re-battle multiple trainers, no reason why we're the only one who continue to get stronger. I think it'd be awesome to have a tournament of previously battled characters before the Elite 4! Maybe characters that we haven't battled could be added too.
