If we get a side quest like that I hope it would be centered around a Gen 8 Pokemon, not Togepi (unless it's, maybe, a regional form of Togepi)
You just gave me an idea... it would be nice to have in game side quests for legendaries, like they did in Platinum (iirc). Instead of having to go to Gamestop or a similar place to get events from (a lot of the time).
I could get behind that. Especially if the Z-Crystal events would involve battling a type specialist for the type-specific crystals. It would ensure that Galar and future generations all have at least one specialist of each type. What about Mega Evolution and Z-Move quests? That could be pretty funny as it would be quests revolving around different Pokemon but instead of being rewarded with the 20th Gyarados you've already caught, your rewarded with Gyaradosite.
Exactly. And it's not 'Gonna get em' all after I drive for far too many miles to get there' either . I didn't mind the occasional online event myself, but in game ones would be a nice balance. That should definitely be a thing. Really it should be the standard for event legends. It's "Gonna Catch 'em All" not "Gonna Get 'em All as Presents" after all

Oh my gosh yes, maybe it can start as an egg then around the third gym or so it becomes a Pokemon you can access in the options menu to play with. Then when it fully evolves we can still play with it even if it's been traded. Why not a sidequest similiar to Cosmog's plot in SuMo? I'd love to carry a baby legendary throughout my journey. I feel like having to raise it along the way would be well-worth it.
What I'm looking for really is more of a personal connection to the legendaries. I feel gen 5/7 were really only games to do this. Not to say it makes the other games bad, far from it, but I really liked Cosmog. It' s pretty weak and cute but it's kind of wholesome helping the thing. I'd love if we got introduced to the legendary earlier in the series. Maybe have them guide the player a bit more? We did get Tapu Koko giving us our Z-Ring so that's something to think about.

I'd definitely rather have something besides going to gamestop for legendary pokemon.
I do too. And speaking of Manafi, it's been years since there's been an event for one. Since the Ranger tie in. I'd hope that it makes a return event wise in Sword and Shield.
Yep. I had to go through the GTS to get one since I didn't have Pokemon Ranger.Wow, has it really been that long since a Manaphy event? Glad I played back then.
I really hope we get more events during the Sword and Shield era tied to side games like Manaphy was. It was a very creative and fun way to get Mythical Pokemon. At the very least though, event items would be more preferable than driving down to gamestop to get a code. I almost missed Zeraora just because I couldn't be bothered to go there.

Definitely, as long as it is through them and not through side games. That was one thing I wasn't really a fan of.
Ah.If I recall correctly there was also a 20th anniversary distribution but I missed that.
What about distributing event mythicals through the side games did you not like? Is it inconvenience, just having to own the game or what?
Ah.
Both given that I wasn't all that interested in getting that game at the time. I was more interested in the main series.
Good point. I've gotten a bit more interested in the side ones over the years myself. Some of them are pretty interesting. Exactly.Fair enough. I suppose I didn't consider that a lot of people don't really care about the side games. As a collector of the side games myself it gives the side games more purpose, but it would also limit the number of people who would really have access to event Pokemon.
