Okay, I'll just plop a WIP here. I may add in another character later.
First Character:
Name: 63-A-962 (Goes by ‘Rhuna’, occasionally 'Rhine’.)
Gender: Female
Age: 20.
Physical Description:
Rhuna is often mistaken for someone much younger than she actually is (she suspects that it may be due to a problem with the genetic modification process she underwent as a child). Many people seem to think she is still around 14 years old, due to her small and 'underdeveloped' body, as well as her big eyes, features commonly associated with children. Her skin is on the paler side, and she generally gives of a sort of delicate, porcelain-statue feel, like if you hit her hard enough, something would break. (Something does, but it would probably your arm). Many people feel the need to keep her out of danger. She is often described as being 'cute', and evokes a 'OMG I WANNA HUG HER' kind of response from many people. At least, that is how she looks from far away. Once you get close enough, you would find that she has some disturbingly un-childlike and un-cute features. For one, her eyes are a burning, unnaturally bright scarlet red colour, something that most people find unsettling. Especially in battle, her eyes seem to shine with an almost manic light, often enough to make people wonder about how mentally stable she is. Her black hair isn't exactly short, but it isn't really long either, her two braids reaching down to her shoulders. She doesn't really pay attention to it, so it can often look rather messy.
As for clothes, Rhuna identifies as a witch, and dresses the part, complete with the old-school witch's hat and cape. She prefers red clothing, but since they tend to stand out more, usually goes with black. Her standard attire is a rather medieval-looking red t-shirt with white patterns on it, which is a tad bit too big for her (it flaps in the wind, which she thinks is cool). Over that, she wears an ankle-length cape/cloak, which is sometimes red as well but usually a dark grey colour with a yellow border, which helps her blend in a bit better with the shadows. She wears a witch's hat which has a vaguely scarecrow like pattern stitched onto it, but will often swap it out for a plainer black/grey one if she needs to be a bit more discreet. She wears long pants with a silky kind of sheen to them, and always goes barefoot. All of her clothes have a sort of strange shine when put under the right light, since they are coated in a film-like substance that protects them from the heat her own explosions generate. She will sometimes wear a shield-shaped or rectangular eyepatch over her left eye, which sometimes has a white, fire design on it. She carries a wooden staff with a curved end that has a strange, oddly shaped rock on it, which sometimes glows a dark purple or emits a shadowy kind of mist (it's her Spiritomb Yami's Odd Keystone).
Personality: Rhuna has a textbook case of Chuunibyou, of the ‘Evil Eye’ variety. Having carefully constructed her dramatic and cool ’Witch’ personality, she uses it as a shield against the brutal reality of a world in which nobody but a glowing stone cared about her. Whenever the darkness of the world she sees starts to get to her, she retreats behind a wall of wild, unrestrained imagination and overly boisterous mannerisms, and that helps her deal with everything and keep herself functioning. She holds an extremely negative view of the world, seeing people as being shallow, petty, driven only by selfishness. It’s a worldview that has been hammered into her head via countless rejections, cold shoulders, and lack of empathy, and despite her efforts, she finds it difficult to see people in any other light. She is scared of having to come to terms with the world being a terrible place, and tries to put something that final as far away from her as possible, hoping to avert that sort of eventuality, although she finds herself slowly drifting in that direction whenever she stops to think about her life.
As a result of this, Rhuna isn’t exactly fond of interacting socially with other people, and when she is forced to, often finds herself at a loss about what to do. She gets flustered easily, but always manages to hide it well, either by playing the ‘cool silent guy’ and not speaking much, or letting her mouth run on incessantly, putting up her Chuuni tendencies as a shield of sorts. She hates relying on other people (Pokemon are different), and will do things alone if it is in any way possible, even if it would take much longer. She’s afraid of allowing others to support her, because she worries that the support would be there one moment and gone the next (like how her friend Fern was snatched away from her in an instant). She has the ‘If you don’t let others close, they can’t hurt you’ sort of mentality. She hates being tied down or controlled, not wanting anybody to have power over her. She hates being touched, and will try to avoid skin-on-skin contact at all costs when not in battle.
Due to the fact that her education pretty much stopped once the facility she was kept in was destroyed, Rhuna isn’t exactly book-smart. However, she is naturally quite intelligent (not incredibly so, but she’s definitely on the brighter side), and doesn’t find it difficult to pick up new information and concepts when they are explained to her (the fact that she doesn’t like other people teaching her things, preferring to learn from books, is another matter). She is well versed in fiction, having read a lot of it, but doesn’t know non-fiction at all. When it comes to things like the sciences, mathematics or humanities, however she knows about as much as an eleven/twelve year old would.
Rhuna also derives a sort of insane, even sadistic pleasure from seeing things perish in fiery explosions, something she discovered during her time with Yami in the Viridian Forest. She likes it to the point where she just has to see something - no matter how small - explode violently on a daily basis, or she starts to get kind of stressed out. Her eyes have an unnervingly manic glow to them, causing people to sometimes think of her as being insane, or at least mentally unstable. Having grown up without any loving parent in a cold environment, Rhuna seems to lack a strong sense of empathy (it’s there, but it’s very weak), causing her to be extremely brutal and heartless at times, especially during battle, where she must choose between causing huge damage or none at all (due to the destructive nature of her power). She tends to have a very low opinion of herself, seeing herself as a selfish, negative person who’s only skill is destroying things. She often tries to avoid utilising the full power of her explosions, because she feels like something so destructive shouldn’t be used freely.
However, beneath all of the psychologically messed-upped-ness, she is still a child at heart. Having never had a parental or guiding figure of any sort, she still lacks the maturity of many adults. She is truly a warm and tender person, and wants nothing more than to live the life of someone who is loved and accepted. If you constantly and unfailingly treat her well, and she will often find herself treating you well despite the fact that she thinks she ought to ’know better’. She also enjoys stereotypically young-girl-ish things like shopping or gossip (not that she has anyone to do it with), and has a soft spot for cute things. She dislikes that part of her, seeing it as naive and too vulnerable a weak point, and goes to great lengths to try and keep it at bay or kill it entirely, although she never seems to be able to (Which is why her ‘cute’ appearance ticks her off somewhat). She still often finds herself reminiscing about the time she spent together with Fern, and wants nothing more than to have that kind of relationship again with someone.

History: The instant she was born, before she was even given a name, Rhuna was donated to Project Pantheon - an underground scientific endeavour who’s purpose was to give humans the power of Pokemon through genetic modification in order to create a team of super-soldiers. As a result, she spent the first two years or so all but isolated from the world, given all sorts of injections and implantations on a daily basis, having to go through all sorts of physical and mental examinations. Not having a loving presence in her life is what caused her lack of some of the more fundamental emotional skills, leading to her often brutal lack of empathy. The tests would continue on a daily basis throughout her time in the facility, and it was always painful (being aimed at testing the limits of her body), to the point where she had started to grow numb to physical pain as a way to adapt.
At age two, when she began to speak, she was put in a small ‘education unit’, the aim being to educate the children in a similar manner to a kindergarten, except with training in combat skills and knowledge added in from day one. It was there that she made friends with another girl who, being one year her senior and very gifted, protected and assisted her when it was needed. Like her newfound friend, she soon began to demonstrate combat and mental prowess significantly above the others in their unit, landing her in a sort of accelerated class alongside the other girl. There, they were taught to control the powers that had been gifted to them. A few years down the line, after reading a particularly interesting novel, she, alongside with her friend, decided to give themselves a name - she chose Rhuna, her friend ‘Fern’. With no parental figure to guide them in a heartless and often cruel environment, they turned to each other for both emotional and physical support, growing very close. They would often turn to their own fanciful imaginations as a way of escaping from the coldness and emptiness of their current existence, and often liked to role-play, setting the grounds for her later Chuunibyou tendencies.
When she turned eleven and Fern twelve (all the children donated to the project had their birthdays on the same day, regardless of when they were actually born), the facility they were stationed at was raided by a remaining faction of Team Rocket that had still hoped to restore their organisation to their former glory. In the chaos that followed, the two of them were separated, and Rhuna ended up fleeing into the woods near the facility, escaping the carnage relatively unscratched. Alone, with Fern nowhere to be seen, she pretty much freaked out. When a grunt came into the forest following a trail of trampled plants, she had, out of instinct, lashed out. The resulting explosion killed her pursuer, and she felt nothing.
For the next few weeks, she lived in that forest, foraging for berries as a way to find food (she had been taught how, although this was the first time she could have applied that knowledge). Along the way, she picked up an odd rock with strange patterns on it and, desperate for some sort of companionship, started speaking to it and treating it like a friend. It was also in that forest that she began to develop her ‘fake identity’, as a sort of desperate way to find an identity for herself. She also began to use the act of blowing things up as a way to relieve stress, and developed a sort of dependency on it, to the point where she pretty much
had to cause at least a small explosion once a day. Eventually, she decided that in order to survive, she would have to seek out civilisation, so that was what she did. As it turned out, she had been in Viridian Forest, and after a bit of walking, she found herself in Viridian City, where she began to steal the things she needed (starting with a set of clean clothes and a traveller’s backpack), using her small frame and incredible agility to get away with it. She stayed in Viridian for a while, but was eventually forced to leave when people began to grow suspicious of her.
After that, she travelled around Kanto, wandering aimlessly. At that point, she had become old enough (or could pass as being old enough) to be hired for some jobs, and she did her best to keep her shady past hidden. Having no real means of identification, she couldn’t land an official job, so she ended up simply doing odd jobs for anybody who would pay her for it. It was by no means a stable income, and she would often end up sleeping on the ground in a forest after getting stiffed, but, coupled with the money she got from battling trainers on her travels, it allowed her to get by without having to resort to theft. Her strange mannerisms, as well as the rumours that flew about regarding her past seemed to always weigh in on her interactions with others, often making them suspicious or even openly hostile towards her. As her jobs often carried her to shady places, she spent her adolescence surrounded dishonourable people doing dishonourable things, which, alongside the coldness and cruelty she was subject to throughout her life, built her cynical worldview. During this period of her life, she would often visit libraries (since they were free, and offered form of entertainment), and read a lot, growing increasingly obsessed with Fantasy and, to a lesser extend, Sci-Fi. Having nobody to rely on but herself in an environment that wasn’t exactly forgiving, she turned to books as a form of escape.
Eventually, wanting to put her past behind her, she left Kanto to go to Unova, where she continued to travel aimlessly, doing odd jobs for a living. No longer having a shady past and unpleasant rumours weighing her down, she found herself feeling a lot happier. She had originally planned on settling down, but had been unable to, due to her fear of setting down roots and relying on other people in a community, as well as having been afflicted with a sort of wanderlust over her years of travelling. She did her best to keep her powers hidden, always going into forests or other remote places when looking to blow something up as part of her almost daily routine, and even then, she tried to keep such explosions as small as possible. She is currently in Driftveil City, looking for some sort of work.
Class: Scientific Experiment.
Ability: Rhuna had her DNA spliced with that of a Turtonator, resulting in her skin and hair being an incredibly explosive, yet resistant material. Any exposure to fire or a significantly large impact will result in an explosion of according magnitude. They range from being small sparks to something resembling several grenades detonating at once. Soaking her in water will render her explosive powers much less potent, but only for half an hour or so. Her reaction speed, sensitivity to her surroundings, and natural agility/speed have also been enhanced to levels far above a normal human's, although her strength has not.
Her skin is extremely heat resistant, and her entire body is very resistant to the damage her own explosions cause. Her bones are strong and heal fast, and while it isn't difficult to injure her (not much harder than injuring a normal human), it is significantly harder to actually cause long-term damage. Occasionally, when forced to overextend herself, her explosions can become too powerful for her own body, resulting in some pretty severe injuries (she does not know this for a fact, having never tried it before, but thinks that it’s a possibility).
She has also been trained in hand to hand combat, and is proficient in the use of many weapons (having been trained in them throughout her childhood). However, due to the fact that her explosions are so powerful, she doesn’t really need those skills, so they’re a little rusty. Instead, she has her own sort of fighting style, which alternates between ranged combat using Yami’s attacks and physical attacks delivered with maximum power/speed at point-blank range. It is designed to either wear the enemy out, then end them in a single blow, which is often quite possible.
She uses her staff, which has Yami's keystone on it, as a weapon. Her Spiritomb fires attacks from its vantage point on the tip of it, as well as using moves like Protect as a defensive measure. It can also be used as a weapon in close combat, and moves like Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch make it a possibility, although Rhuna has found that using her explosions is more effective They have learned to co-ordinate their attacks via a sort of code tapped onto the staff, coupled with its movements.
Pokemon:
Pokemon Sheet:
Name/Nickname: Perfect Dark (Nicknamed Yami, because Perfect Dark is a mouthful to say)
Species: Spiritomb
Gender: Nobody really knows, but Rhuna thinks of her as being Female.
Description and Personality: Yami is a rather bland Pokemon, not really having a lot of personality. She's quiet, and pretty much an inanimate object outside of battle, preferring to stay in the odd keystone and not show herself. She is loyal to Rhuna, and follows all of her commands without hesitation. Rhuna likes to talk at length on all sorts of confidential things to her, despite (or perhaps because of) the fact that she never talks back. She
thinks that the two of them are close, but has no real way of knowing.
They first met in Viridian Forest, where Rhuna picked up her Odd Keystone and began to carry it around like some treasure. Seemingly touched by the care she showed to a seemingly useless object, Yami chose to show herself to the girl, and they had been travelling together ever since. All of this is Rhuna’s speculation, and Yami has never done anything to confirm or disprove it, so she continues thinking of that as what had happened.
Other: She does not have a Pokeball.
Second one:
Name: 63-A-917 (Goes by ‘Ventus’ or ‘Fern’).
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Physical Description:
Like Rhuna, Fern appears to be a good deal younger than she actually is, having undergone the same genetic modification. She is on the thinner side, which, coupled with her relatively small size and pale skin, often makes people think of her as being fragile and in need of protection, something she doesn't really appreciate. She isn't exactly
very short, but her childlike face, lack of development in the bust area, and the fact that she does tend to reach only up to other people's shoulders often makes her seem a lot younger than she actually is, something she doesn't quite appreciate. Her hair is brown and quite long, usually ranging from waist-length to ankle-length depending on when she last cut it. It's also quite messy, and although its length forces her to comb it every now and then, it's usually easy to tell she didn't do a very good job of doing so. Her eyes are a bright leaf green, although they sometimes seem to shift to different shades depending on the light. People tend to describe her eyes as having a sort of clear, clean feel ('like a mountain spring', as she would put it). Her left arm is covered with multiple scars, a constant reminder of her unpleasant past.
As for clothing, Fern likes to dress for function over fashion, although to her those are often one and the same. All of her clothing is quite light and thin, and usually built to allow her maximum freedom of movement (her coat is an exception). She tends to wear black shirts and pants, made of the synthetic material usually made for sports/quick-dry t-shirts. They tend to also have white or grey stripes or other geometric designs on them. Some of her clothes have been very obvious stitched back together after being damaged, but she doesn't really care. They're also loose enough to be quite comfortable and allowing for ease of movement while not getting in the way. She tends to wear trainers or running shoes, and occasionally goes barefoot. Her two signature items of clothing - ones she almost always has on - are her green, leaf-shaped ribbon (a keepsake from her adopted father), and her dark, navy blue overcoat. The ribbon has received a good bit of wear-and-tear, and looks a bit frayed, but she still likes how it looks (and it's the only thing she pays attention to when looking at her appearance). Her overcoat is quite large, and reaches all the way down to her ankles. Its sleeves are also quite voluminous, kind of like a robe. The reason for that? The inside of the coat is almost completely filled with knives of all sorts of shapes and sizes. She also has several belts (looped seemingly randomly around her, actually painstakingly arranged in a pattern in which she would be able to reach any items quickly and easily based on a situation), and pockets, where she stores all sorts of things. During the winter, she occasionally wears a very long and wide scarf of a similar colour, especially when she does not anticipate being in combat.
Personality: Generally, most people who interact with Fern leave with a favourable impression of her. She is the calm, quiet type, but always unfailingly friendly, earnest, and polite despite her tendency to not speak much. She prefers to stay generally unobtrusive and out of the way, doing what she does without being noticed, being the type who’d step out of somebody’s path or hold the door open for someone in a way that is so completely natural that nobody thinks twice about it. She’s rather withdrawn and certainly not expressive, the most significant signs of emotion she offers being a small, happy smile or a slight grimace. People seem to think of her as simply being in a state of tranquil contentment, and she tries her best gives them no reason to think otherwise. Over the years, she has started to feel like she can no longer have fun and feel emotion, and that she sort of ‘died inside’ when the Pantheon Facility was burned down.
While the cuts the time she spent in Project Pantheon had left on her had begun to heal with time under the care of her adopted family, some of the scars (both physical and mental) remain. Her childhood in a brutally unloving environment left her emotionally numb, and her sense of emotion dulled. She doesn’t feel much, and some events which would cause a normal human being to leap up in joy would only elicit a sort of satisfied smile from her. As a result of this, She sees herself as being empty, lacking in that sort of emotional spark that made human beings human. She wants to feel things normal people do, which is why she tried her best to integrate herself into society, but she just can’t.
She often finds it hard to empathise with other people, and occasionally can make comments that are brutally insensitive, simply because she doesn’t understand why people would take it the wrong way. Over the years, she has had enough experience dealing with people to get by without the fundamental empathetic connection people normally form with each other, and can handle most social situations based on that knowledge. Her childhood has left her with a severely underdeveloped sense of emotional awareness, and she isn’t used to dealing with human feelings, be it her own or others, which is why she tries to keep things professional when dealing with people, finding a set of rules easier to follow than a complex web of human emotion. She gets flustered easily and dislikes being paid attention to, preferring to stay on the sidelines. A free spirit at heart, she likes it when she is in full control of herself, unbound by connections to anybody else.
Fern also has a strong aversion to relying on others, preferring to be the one that was being relied on when any co-operation is necessary. She will give help, but never seek it, facing all her difficulties alone when possible. While it has mellowed over the years, she still dislikes people and finds herself unable to shake off the basic conviction that humans are inherently evil in some way. She is instinctively distrustful and wary of others, and will subconsciously move away from people who try and get too close This lead to her being a sort of ‘vacuum person’, with no real friends despite the rather likeable impression she gives. She also has a very low self-esteem, often being incapable of finding merit in herself or her actions and seeing only the negatives. As such, she has very little pride, and feels very little shame, not being afraid to run away from a superior enemy, or bow her head to a superior. She can’t help but feel that she is somehow lesser than other people and in some fundamental way inhuman. The scars and the shoulder pains don’t help.
Fern is a person who tries her best to appear mature and serious. While her physical appearance is often somewhat messy and unkempt, she rarely fails to adhere to the proper etiquette and rules. She puts her jobs (whatever they may be) at the forefront, and everything else second. Her strong sense of duty and a keen awareness of her own obligations often leads her to dislike people who are too carefree, or those who don’t take things that are serious seriously. She can often appear to be a little uptight about rules and restrictions, and while she never takes it upon herself to enforce such rules, she still looks down on those who break them. As a result, she often ends up playing the ‘only sane man’ in a makeshift family full of eccentrics. She pretty much had to play the ‘responsible one’ - the one who did all the housework, who cooked all the meals, who kept everything working - throughout the majority of her life Post-Pantheon, and that mentality carries over to her interactions with people outside of her family. She often feels like she has to be the one to keep everyone on track, and the one to get the job done if nobody else would do it.
Beneath her calm and collected personality, a child who has yet to grow up is hidden, buried under her professionalism. Like her long-lost friend Rhuna, she used to have a rather serious case of ‘Evil Eye’ Chuunibyou when she was younger, using it, like many other children in the facility, as a way of escaping from their own, unpleasant reality. She has grown out of it a bit by now, but the flair for the dramatic that is associated with the ’syndrome’ will occasionally resurface when she is under large amounts of stress, or when she is alone with someone she trusts (those are few and far between). She still has an incredible imagination, and will often spend time thinking up the most ridiculous stories and scenarios, which allow her some sort of Garden of Eden in which she can relax if things ever get too rough.
The only significantly visible trace of her old self that remained is her obsession with bladed weapons, knives in particular. She has a massive collection of all sorts of knives, used for anything between combat and survival to cutting vegetables. She can spend hours on end sharpening and polishing her knives, and is extremely knowledgeable about them. It’s gotten to the point where she almost needs to have some sort of blade on her person, or she starts to feel unsafe and jittery. She is a very different person now, having ‘grown up’, but she misses the sense of joy and exploration her younger self had experienced, and often wonders if she had lost something important as she matured. She still thinks about the time she spent and the connection she shared with Rhuna, often daydreaming about meeting her again.

History: Fern grew up in a lab, the property of a mysterious scientific endeavour known as ‘Project Pantheon’, which aimed to use genetic modification to create a unit of super-soldiers. Unlike the other children, however, she was not donated willingly to the project by her parents before birth. Instead, she had been picked up at around one year old, after her parents, who had been involved in some shady business, were killed in an ‘accident’. As a result, the process (which was designed to work on infants who had yet to be born) was slightly compromised, and she ended up with some defects - namely, a problem with her shoulders which caused them to freeze up every now and then, causing pain which wasn’t insignificant.
However, she still managed to excel, having had a natural instinct for battle, as well as being generally quite an intelligent child. As a result, she was singled out for further observation and placed in an ‘elite class’ of sorts. Naturally, the tests that were performed on her to test her physical and mental prowess were performed more often and more vigorously. Throughout this time, her constant shoulder pains continued to trouble her, and an accident in the testing process left her with several bad lacerations on her left arm, leaving scars. Having nobody to watch over her and the only authoritative presence in her life being a team of scientists who seemed dedicated to causing her pain, she began to grow cynical and resentful, even at a young age. Thankfully, she had one place to turn to for solace - her own imagination, which, even at that time, was bountiful. Despite all of these tests and constant pain, she still managed to excel in her classes.
And then, she found something else to occupy herself with - a friend. A new girl was dropped in the so called ‘elite class’, and the two of them hit off well. Both were gifted with an amazing imagination, and they spent their time together, dreaming up all sorts of stories. They had nobody else to rely on, and because of that, they spent most of their time together, becoming very close. With each other, they would relax, and all the defences they put up to protect themselves would disappear. They opened up to each other, and had a sort of harmonious connection, like siblings or an old married couple, in which they were completely at ease in each other’s presence. This connection allowed them to survive in the cold and often cruel environment of the Pantheon facility, and it was what kept them alive and wanting to live.
A few days after they gave themselves their names, the facility they were at was raided by a remnant of Team Rocket, who were hoping to get their hands on some of the information the Pantheon Researchers had gathered about genetic modification. In the chaos that followed, Fern was separated from Rhuna, and ended up fleeing through Viridian Forest. Along the way, she heard a loud explosion and went to track it, but found nobody at the site. After wandering around for a bit, she stumbled, tired and hungry, into a small, secluded shrine hidden in the depths of the forest, and fell asleep there.
When she woke up, she found that she had been moved into massive, vaguely oriental complex of buildings, buried deep within the confines of the Viridian forest. An old man was sitting there, and introduced himself as ‘Father Qiu’. He asked her for details about her upbringing and circumstances, which Fern told him because she knew there was no use getting out of the situation. Qiu seemed like a dangerous man, and she didn’t want to cross him. After getting as much information out of her as he could, Qiu thanked her, and showed her around the complex, which was almost like a palace. She started living there as a sort of adopted child.
As it turned out, Qiu’s complex - dubbed LANIA by its residents, an an acronym that had lost its meaning over time - was a sort of refuge for retired assassins, weapons dealers, and other people who had once been engaged in similarly dangerous activities and now wanted a peaceful life for themselves, either because of age or injuries.. Qiu himself was a retired master assassin, and had built this complex during his youth. The people who live there live as a sort of closely-knit family, and their secluded position, along with the fact that nobody was looking for them, allowed them peace. Their main source of income was the crafting of weapons - a strictly quality over quantity operation, which was run by passing the items along to a dealer in Viridian who had promised them their anonymity. Qiu took Fern in and, seeing potential in her and hating to have such abilities wasted, began to teach her the ‘arts’, bestowing his own loyal Pokemon to her - his literal sword and shield, Valora the Aegislash.
Throughout the time Fern spent at LANIA, and under Qiu’s tutelage, Fern learnt everything needed to become a successful assassin. Espionage, Stealth, Human (and Pokemon) anatomy, usage of Weaponry and Martial arts - she was taught them all, and learnt them quickly. Qiu was a kindly old man, but also a strict (but very good) trainer, and soon, she was capable of sparring with some of the other, more lively residents of LANIA. Over the course of the four years she spent there, she became part of Qiu’s extended family, and took on the role of housekeeper, cleaning things up and cooking for a ragtag band of retired misadventures. She loved it there, and found a sort of community in which she felt belonged. She looked up to Qiu as both a master and a father, and still thinks of him as a parental figure. (Don’t kill him pls).
After she turned 16, Fern left LANIA in order to get back into the outside world - after all, she couldn’t spend her entire life in that complex. She devoted herself to tracking down what remained of Project Pantheon and Team Rocket, and travelled all over the Kanto region (there was no need to leave, as Project Pantheon seemed to have been confined to Kanto only. with only marginal operations outside of it). She wanted to find out more about her shady past, in order to put the lingering doubts about her own humanity to rest. Having no background and no real means of identification, as well as a generally odd appearance, society did not treat her well. With no other way but odd jobs to earn money, Fern often found herself struggling to survive, looked down upon by society as a whole, and generally disregarded. She was often underpaid, or denied payment entirely, and the line of work her skills seemed to lead her to didn’t exactly take her to the nicest places. Her cynical worldview, which had already been hammered into her being, became even more prominent. She only returned to LANIA twice every year (wanting to make her own way in life), when she was in desperate need of sleep, shelter, or some sort of human love, and was always received warmly, although she began to feel that she was becoming more distant with her old family as time passed. Only Qiu seemed to still share the same, close connection with her. It nagged uncomfortably at her, but she didn’t do much about it, continuing to travel by herself, alone - she had become accustomed to that lifestyle, and, try as she might, she couldn’t change it.
Class: Scientific Experiment
Ability: Fern’s DNA had been spliced with that of a Ninjask, giving her all the properties of a ‘fragile speedster’. Her body is much lighter, and much more agile than that of a normal human being. This allows her to jump really high/far, and makes her great at performing all sorts of crazy acrobatics, both on the ground and in the air. She is also extremely, extremely fast, to the point where she can run short distances on directly vertical faces. During battle, she can make use of ‘Flash Stepping’ - bursts of speed which are fast enough to resemble teleporting when used over short distances. Her reaction time and her senses have also been enhanced. She is fast enough to dodge bullets and other projectiles with ease, although keeping up that speed takes a large toll on her. She is also capable of vibrating her limbs at a very fast speed, although she has yet to find a use for this power beyond cooking (she is a pretty good cook, when she can get the ingredients).
Unfortunately, the fusion wasn’t perfect. Due to the light nature of her body, she is also very fragile, and not very good at taking hits. Her bones seem to be weaker than those of an average person, perhaps to make her lighter and faster, at the expense of some durability. She also isn’t very physically strong, and the power behind most of her attacks comes more from momentum/speed than physical strength. She also tires easily and has poor stamina, forcing her to use an all-in sort of strategy, relying on her incredible speed and agility to overwhelm and quickly dispose of her opponents before she gets tired. She is also prone to paralysing pains in her shoulders of no real discernible reason, but since they are more prevalent after a fight, she links them with her powers, and theorises that it may have bee caused by a failed attempt to get wings onto her. As a result, she tends to like to use her legs in combat whenever possible, reserving her arms for throwing knives/shooting guns instead of physical contact.
She knows some martial arts and self-defence techniques, but her relatively frail body makes her ill-suited for hand-to-hand combat. Instead, she uses a large arsenal of different weapons, consisting mainly of knives and daggers (both for throwing and the standard stabbing/slashing), as well as two pistols and several other miscellaneous items depending on what she decided to bring. She is a master at using all of her weapons, especially her knives, to the point where she can throw knives at a moving target and have every single one graze their left ear (of course, this depends on how skilled the person is at dodging / how unpredictable they are). She’s also received training in other weapons, but prefers to stick with her blades and guns.
Pokemon: (full team if Master Trainer, single Pokemon if other)
Pokemon Sheet:
Name/Nickname: Valora ( Usually shortened to ‘Val’)
Species: Aegislash
Gender: Female
Description and Personality: Valora is a literally battle-scarred veteran (scratches and dents on the metal of her blade and shield), fearless and extremely loyal. She is confident in her own abilities, and will put her life on the line to defend her masters. The strong and silent type, she usually floats around, about half a meter or so away from Fern. She is the reserved and caring type, and quite friendly to those without any ill-will. Fern’s adopted father Han was her original owner, but due to his retirement, she was given to Fern. During battle, she tends to stay in her shield form, protecting Fern from damage and also giving her stepping stones in the air for her acrobatics. Their teamwork is superb, and orders are rarely needed between them. Fern considers Valora one of her only friends.
