Pokemon Type order

Typhlosion

So i read this morning that Lucario is no longer Steel/Fighting but now Fighting/Steel. How does this affect him? Does the order really matter? If so how does this affect the types of attact inflicted?

It doesn't affect anything at all. It's type order was changed, that's all.

That is a good question but I think the reason for this is that the starters probaply(spelling) will be fighting/dark/psychic.So if lucario's type order is like that , he might be a starter!

Actually, I think that the order of the types affects which of the two type moves the pokemon learns more of. I think the pokemon learns more moves of the first type than the second. There are exceptions, but it is true. How many steel moves do we know Lucario has? Metal claw. How many fighting moves? In-fight, wave guiding bomb, detect, and I think there are a few more.

Who didn't update it?
I don't think that belongs in this thread.

It doesn't matter at all. It doesn't give him more or less advantages. They probably looked at Lucario and saw that he's doesn't have too much metal on his body and decided to make his primary type Fighting.

Maybe because he's more a fighter than a steel type, see the many new fighting moves he learns, but few steel.

yeah, but look at ;260;. He's a Water/Ground but learns mostly ground type attacks. It seems to me the change in order of Lucario's type just suggests he might really be in the fighting start line. We'll see.

Except that, if he is, he'll be neutral to psychic because of his steel typing. It's unlikely at best.

I had always felt that the first type for a pokemon dictated the type of stats it got. An electric/ground could be fast, while a ground/electric could be slow... I wonder if nintendo has (or will have in D/P) a definitive answer why these things should matter.

I think the type order is more for emphasis of which type is "dominant", but in some cases it doesn't even matter like Dewgong being Water/Ice and Walrein being Ice/Water

and it certainly doesn't affect gameplay at all

I think that only effects what the pokemon may look like. like it may be more like a fighter then a steel clad thing.

I think it depends on the habitat the pokemon prefers. For example Shuckle is a Bug/Rock type but it still likes to live in a bug environment. On the other hand Anorith is a Rock/Bug type so it prefers a rock area.

I think it might affect pokedex searching by type but that's it

i agree to u. order didnt give any bonus so the most clear answer is dominant for this.

Think of it this way. Roselia is a PLANT, who happens to be poisonous. So because it's a Plant Pokemon, it's Grass then Poison.

So Lucario is a fighter first, then for some reason also a Steel type. Hence, Fighting/Steel.

i agree with this, but i guess it doesn't really matter

The only exceptions definitely I can see are Flying types, which are all second types, but Jumpluff is a plant based being that can fly, and Delibird is an icy creature that is a bird, and can fly. On second thoughts, these aren't exceptions.
