• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

lol i usually refer to them as the legendary dogs but didnt know if thats still a term for them, but entei, suicune and raikou are whom i'm talking about.

They all have Inner Focus as a Hidden Ability now. In older gens they had different ones but were never released with Hidden Abilities anyway. And I guess they figured they might be a bit OP with those abilities.

I don't have USUM, just SM, but did the legendary beasts really lose their hidden abilities?

Yes. Even though they never had access to their Hidden Abilities before Gold and Silver were released, their HAs were all changed to Inner Focus at the shift to 7th gen.

You know, like how Chandelure would have had Shadow Tag, but by the time it got access to it's HA it was changed to Infiltraitor.

outside of fake out and other flinching moves, inner focus seems to be too much of a downgrade to the dogs' hidden abilities. pressure and inner focus have limited use while the elemental absorbs had more use to begin with.

did any other pokemon get nerfs in USUM?

Go, Explotaro!
OK, so I just caught Necrozma. I have his special Z-crystal equipped, yet it says I cant access his z-move even though I have both Photon geyser and Prismatic Laser on him. What gives?

Gengar losing Levitate was a bit of a nerf (although I guess it's now immune to Sucker Punch in Psychic Terrain). Also Regigigas lost Power-up Punch in USUM if you want the black-clover Regigigas. Talonflame also got a bit nerfed with the change to Gale Wings, which now only works on full HP. Mega Kangaskhan got hit pretty hard with the nerf to Parental Bond (and lost Power-up Punch like Regigigas), it's not all that good anymore. Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir lost a bit of Pixelate power, Smeargle lost Dark Void, and Darkrai got nerfed with a Dark Void that's now only 50% accurate. Mega Sableye lost the Prankster boost on the mega evolution turn. For the rest it's primarily status that's been nerfed. Evasion is worse now than ever before with new moves like Smart Strike, Darkest Lariat, and Z-Moves ignoring it, paralysis now only halves speed rather than reducing it by 75%, confused pokémon only hit themselves 1 in 3 times now, and burns now only do 1/16th of damage each turn.

Peanuts aren't just a nut.
Is there any way to rename the pictures you take in Alola Photo Club? Or are they always named after the species of Pokemon that was in the picture with your trainer?

thank you for the reply. some of these nerfs were done in SM so i know of them but i rarely if never used signature moves. those i wasnt aware of those evasion nerf VS signature moves. how much was pixialte boosting the power of the moves before? i didnt run hyper voice on my set and chose moon blast instead.

Not that I'm aware of.

The name can only been seen inside the game, and when you share it online to USUM players. The Name is not present in the actual image file*, so you can stick it on any website via any means you like via any means you have available. Either via SD card reader in your PC, N3DS remote access or via some image upload sites. Once there you can name it anything you want.

*There are ways to hide stuff in images, so hiding a few pieces of info would be easy..

Pixelate, Aerilate, etc. boosted by 30% in 6th gen and 20% in 7th gen. It's a small nerf, the abilities are generally still worth it because they often also mean you get STAB on the moves now. I think Aurorus is the only one where it's now no longer worth it to run, and it's better to run Snow Warning Blizzard over Refrigerate Hyper Voice.

Does the gender of the special Rockruff matter when it comes to passing on Own Tempo to offspring?

When you're breeding with other Rockruff it needs to be female. I'm pretty sure male Rockruff can pass it on by breeding with Ditto.

thanks, i had a feeling they didnt weaken it too much.

I heard that now we can use banned legendaries in Battle Tree, is it true?
Opponents pokémon are reduced to lv 50 or are their levels same of my highest level pokémon?

Has anyone seen a good comprehensive guide of the mini quests anywhere yet? I'm talking about stuff like the old guy looking for his friends in Heahea City, the messages in bottles, the 5 Dittos quest, etc. There's a thread on GameFAQs where people are discussing it and trying to compile things but I haven't seen much elsewhere.

Some of these just seem really easy to miss because of needing to go back and/or because of needing to go during specific times of the day.

Eh, ragazzo!
I beat Kiawe's trial, and the Poke Pelago isn't there. What's wrong?

Edit: Never mind, found it out.

Opinion seeking, now that US/UM is out with not only move tutors but also more pokemon, moveset changes including expanded Egg moves, Z moves, and non-event Mega Stones, is there literally any good reason to keep all my breeding materials and competitive pokemon in Sun?
Keeping breeding stuff in 6th gen is justifiable as there are valuable TMs and not-horrid training methods back then, but S/M feels very shackled down by having next to nothing compared to US/UM. Unless getting the Shiny Charm is now a much harder accomplishment?

I just got to the point where I can switch battle styles. I want to switch to the Left hand style, which means I have to beat Ilmia (I'm assuming a second time). In my play through of Sun, I had absolutely no issue with this/finding him as the style was there when I got to the city. In USun however, I never could find Ilmia to beat a second time. He doesn't appear to be at his house or by the dock. Any idea what I missed or where he might be?

Those battles for the battle poses aren't available anymore until after you complete the main story.
