    Pre-release Confirmed Information:

    Pokémon ULTRASUN & Pokémon ULTRAMOON
    Release Date: November 17, 2017 (NA/EU/JP)
    Size (eShop Version): 3.7 GB (around 29,500 blocks) // Pre-loading now available


    • "Pokémon UltraSun and UltraMoon" were officially announced June 06, 2017. It will be playable exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.
    • The games will be released worldwide on November 17, 2017.
    • It will feature an "alternate" world. However it is unclear if these games are third versions (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) or sequels (Black 2/White 2).
    • The games are still playable in nine languages -- Japanese, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.


    • The Alola Pokedex has been expanded with 100 additional Pokemon. For a list of version-exclusives, go here.
    • NEW Pokemon were introduced:
      - UB-Burst - Fire/Ghost | Beast Boost - An Ultra Beast exclusive to Pokemon Ultra Sun.
      - UB-Assembly - Rock/Steel | Beast Boost - An Ultra Beast exclusive to Pokemon Ultra Moon.
      - UB-Adhesive - Poison | Beast Boost - An Ultra Beast brought by the Ultra Recon Squad.
    • New Pokemon Form/es were introduced:
      - Dusk Mane Necrozma - Psychic/Steel | Prism Armor - Necrozma's Forme when it absorbs Solgaleo. Knows Solgaleo's signature move, Sunsteel Strike.
      - Dawn Wings Necrozma - Psychic/Ghost | Prism Armor - Necrozma's Forme when it absorbs Lunala. Knows Lunala's signature move, Moongeist Beam.
      - I Choose You Cap Pikachu - Electric | Static
      ----- USUM exclusive. An event-only Pokemon obtainable through the QR Code obtained at the screenings of the said movie.
      ----- In the game, when you bring an Ash Cap Pikachu to the Pikachu Valley, something special happens.
      - Lycanroc (Dusk Form) - Rock | Tough Claws, learns Accelrock and Counter.
      ----- It is an event-only Pokemon distributed through Nintendo Network.
      ----- The special Rockruff will have the ability, Own Tempo, is at Level 10, and holds a Focus Band.
      ----- It comes with the moves: Tackle, Bite, Fire Fang (Ultra Sun only) or Thunder Fang (Ultra Moon only), and Happy Hour.
      ----- It can only evolve from November 17, 2017 until January 10, 2018, between 5:00 PM to 5:59 PM at Level 25.
    • All Legendaries are obtainable in the game.
    • Obtainable Island Scan Pokemon differ in this game


    • The protagonists have new designs.
    • Alola is more colorful and vibrant than before. New areas were added across the region. Existing areas have also been updated.
    • The story centers on Necrozma, where secrets about it and the Alola region—undisclosed in the previous games—will come to light.
    • A new team called Ultra Recon Squad have been introduced. They consist of Dulse (man), Zossie (little girl), Soliera (woman), and Phyco (old man). Dulse & Zossie play a central role in Ultra Sun, while Soliera & Phyco take that role in Ultra Moon.
    • The Ultra Recon Squad dwell in a citadel called Ultra Megalopolis within the Ultra Space. It is a world that has had its light stolen by Necrozma.
    • The Island Trials have returned with altered and new trials, as well as new Totem Pokemon. One of the new additions is Mina's trial.
    • Like with other third versions, many subevents that didn't exist in Sun & Moon can be found in the game, such as Bewear show in Hau'oli Mall, Team Skull ambushing an Alolan Vulpix, etc.
    • Also, according to an interview by Eurogamer Portugal, there are "100 small events" that occur around Alola post-game.
    • Team Rocket returns and is now called Team Rainbow Rocket, consisting of Giovanni, Maxie, Archie, Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Lysandre.


    • A new game feature have been introduced, called the Alola Photo Club. It allows you to take photos with your Pokémon. You can choose between poses, backdrops, frames and stickers to personalize it. Using this feature also increases your Pokemon's affection.
    • A new Pokeride feature has been introduced. It is called the Mantine Surf which allows you to surf between the islands of Alola. It is also a mini-game where you avoid obstacles and score points by doing tricks. The points earned can be used for Move Tutors.
    • The Z-Ring has been upgraded into Z-Power Ring, which allows more varieties of Z-Moves than the Z-Ring.
    • There is a new feature where players will be able to ride on the backs of Solgaleo and Lunala to travel through an Ultra Wormhole. Within an Ultra Wormhole, there are countless warp holes that lead to different worlds, such as the habitats of Ultra Beasts.
    • A new battle facility within Festival Plaza, Battle Agency, is introduced. It works similar to the Battle Factory.
    • The Rotom Dex have also new received features. The more you use it, the more it likes and becomes like you. One of the new features is called Roto Loto, where you get special items that are similar to O-Powers. Some increase Exp or money for a set period of time, while some makes it easier to catch Pokémon.
    • Another new feature of the Rotom Dex is a special power called Rotom’s Z-Power, which lets you use a second Z-Move in battle.
    • New Z-Moves were introduced:
      - Searing Sunraze Smash - Steel-Type - Solganium Z // Dusk Mane Necrozma's Special Z-Move. Requires the move, Sunsteel Strike.
      - Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom - Ghost-Type - Lunalium Z // Dawn Wings Necrozma's Special Z-Move. Requires the move, Moongeist Beam.
      - Splintered Stormshards - Rock-Type - Lycanium Z // Lycanroc's Special Z-Move. Requires the move, Stone Edge. Applies to all Lycanroc forms.
      - Clangorous Soulblaze - Dragon-Type - Kommo-omium Z // Kommo-o's Special Z-Move. Requires the move, Clanging Scales.
      - ??? - ???-Type - Mimikium Z // Mimikyu's Special Z-Move.
    • New Moves have also been introduced.
    • Scattered around the region are Totem Stickers, which let you get Totem-Sized Pokémon.
    • According to the description for the game's Official Strategy Guide, the Festival Plaza, Battle Royal, Battle Tree, Poke Finder and Poke Pelago features return in these games.
    • All Global Link features including Championship Battle, which follows the World Championships ruleset, also returns.
    • Like with every third version, Move Tutors are confirmed to be in the game.
    • You can interact and pet overworld Pokemon.
    • Several music themes have been remade.
