I don't see the point of paying Nintendo $5/year just to have access to National Dex tracking. $5/year is worth it for storage. Completely. But NOT for only National Dex tracking. The fact that all of gen 7 skips a National Dex makes me wonder if it'll even show up in gen 8 or beyond. I hate that this even has to be a question. USUM may end up being my final Pokemon game. I'll definitely enjoy it a lot, as I loved Alola and am looking forward to visiting it again. But the National Dex, and the Pokedex itself, felt like a main feature of Pokemon, as major as trading or battling, in my eyes.

You know, it occurs to me that removing the national dex might mean that game freak won’t stop at 999 Pokemon.

Someone asked earlier but can the Flying and surfing Pikachus evolve? Am Alolan Raichu with Surf would be perfect. Then a kantonian one with Fly....and is Poipole/Naganadel legendaries...or what? And what's their BST

did Akala's Dex even get any additions? I've seen Pineco from the trees on Ula'Ula at least, and Melemele got a few additions that it needed

still hasn't really fixed the issue of 60% of the encounters being some combination of timely rodent/Trumbeak/Pelipper in a number of areas, though

Are all the Mega Stones in USUM now? If so, how are they obtained? Are they still locked behind the Battle Tree? Also, do you gain the ability to use mega Evolution before the RR plot?

Hala is so easy though. Just waltz in with Bouncee, have her Trop Kick whatever comes out, and switch her out of it's necessary.

my rankings for the starters in SM would probably be Popplio > Litten > Rowlet. Rowlet is pretty struggle-tier, and even when it evolves it falls just short in terms of power and bulk. Litten fares better, though I'd say it's analogous to RB Bulbasaur in that it's a mostly decent pick that gets the nod for the one boss fight it can effectively demolish when there isn't anything else available that can handle the boss anywhere near as efficiently (Misty for Ivysaur, Lurantis for Torracat). Popplio gets Scald at Brooklyn Hill so it's top tier mostly for that

USUM sorta brings this a little more even. Scald looks like it was switched for Charge Beam at Brooklyn Hill, so Popplio has to wait until evolution for end-game STAB (probably not that bad a nerf overall though). on the other hand, Rowlet now has access to Supersonic Skystrike early on, which ups its usefulness a lot against Totems Araquanid and Lurantis. considering it was the last starter to get access to STAB Z-power in SM, it's a pretty decent buff that'll last until it evolves

also Acrobatics wasn't in Ten Carat Hill, which nerfs some of the other Flying-types and I guess Litten

Yeah, probably not. I imagine Game Freak will keep making more Pokemon gens, and therefore more Pokemon, as long as this franchise keeps making money. I doubt we'll get over 999 with Gen 8, but by Gen 9? A good chance of that, I bet.

Popplio learns disarming voice at level 8 in USUM. Spam that and you're golden.

Does the Totem Raticate/Gumshoos Battle still take place in Verdent Cavern? I saw a frame of a video on YouTube that was the Totem Raticate battle and it didn’t look like the same location from SM.
