I was so disappointed they didn't make Lillie an Ice trainer.... why another Fairy user? We already had one! Alola literally has zero Ice specialists but every other type has at least one specialist, two for Dark/Psychic if Grimsley and Dexio count.
At the very least an entire new character should have been created. That is the only complaint I have about this game, it's dethroned Black/White as my favorite game.

If Grimsley & Dexio count, then good news, Sina is an ice type trainer.
Not that you'd ever know this considering Dexio gets a refight in both versions but you only ever fight Sina in Moon/Ultra Moon and is only in Sun/Ultra Sun's battle tree.


Sina really got the short end of the stick here.

Gladion acts weirdly mature in that Mohn event at Aether Paradise (for a teenage seeing his missing father again), shame we never see Lillie's reaction.

Not sure if this has been said, but Skull fossil isn't exclusive to Ultra Sun. I just received one in Ultra Moon using the Rare Treasure path in Isle Aphun.

Another time I got the Cover Fossil in Ultra Moon.

Speaking of Lusamine's character in USUM, I don't quite get why she dressed Lillie up as Nihilego this time.
USUM still has those sections elaborating on Lillie being dressed up by her mother, but this time she isn't particularly obsessed with the Ultra Beasts in the same way, you know, being obsessed with defeating them instead. She even have a line "I hate the Ultra Wormholes from the depths of my being".

Legacy, I suppose. USUM's artwork heavily showcases Lillie with her second outfit, so does the storyline.

I guess it would be funnier if her primary outfit was an edgelord black dress inspired by Necrozma this time around.

it's possible (I'm still playing through so I haven't even met Lusamine much less all of her lines) she never intentionally dressed her up as nihilego in even SM.
That was certainly the implication everyone got, but much like assuming Lusamine was affected by the toxins, never really stated. Lillie, Gladion (who knows more about UBs than Lillie would), even Wicke (who knows SIGNIFICANTLY MORE) never once comment on the resemblance. The anime also doesn't address it. I think the resemblance of Nihilego & Lillie is meant to be coincidental in universe and instead a metaphor for Lusamine, her relationships and her mental state.

I'm just spitballing here, but if its a metaphor it still kind of works? She's not exactly, ah, happy about Lillie leaving her. Just instead of placing that obsession and "love" onto a surrogate daughter it's splitting the hate. If that makes sense?

She wasn't able to control her daughter so she attempted to control Nihilego (who coincidentally looks like how her daughter dresses, deepening the metaphor visually) instead to compensate.

Lusamine was the one acting weirdly mature in my opinion. She went on a whole terror streak..doing evil deeds just because she lost her husband and suddenly just lets him leave? I guess all she was looking for was closure if anything. To bad they didn't talk more in the games.

Seriously somebody has to explain the Mohn stuff to me, because, probably without having information that probably gets revealed in USUM...

Lusamine went evil because Mohn was lost beyond an Ultra Wormhole and neither did she ever bother to look and discover that he's on Pokepelago nor did he ever bother to check up on his wife and kids?
Because if that's the case it sounds kinda stupid and avoidable....

Mohn has memory lost once since he went through the Ultra Wormhole and from what I can gather Pokepelago isn't exactly a part of Alola or very few know about it, one or the other. And don't worry this was established in SM just more empathized in USUM. Most likely Lusamine was searching through the Ultra Wormhole for her husband when really he mysteriously appeared at Pokepealgo

Here's my grasp on it:

Mohn went through an Ultra Wormhole one day, spent ages in Ultra Space, and something about the atmosphere in wherever he ended up caused him to lose all his memories. Then he somehow finds a way back to his own Alola, in which he lands on abandoned islands and sets up Poke Pelago with nothing better to do with his time. Meanwhile, Lusamine despises the Ultra Wormhole,es with her whole being, but still forces herself to research them to see if there's a blinding hope she can get Mohn back. By the looks of things, she only begins succeeding in her investigations by the time the URS/main character arrives at Aether Paradise, which means she doesn't yet have time to find Mohn. By this point she also has a strange obsession with either simpky looking after Pokemon or both that and Nihilego, to the point where she cryogenically freezes a Pikachu, Slowpoke and I think Starmie?

But yeah, I think that's the best I've got.

All the extra things USUM added, along with the extra events SM had actually, a really nice to find and experience. The little scenes on Akala's northern half were really cute, and the 7 mysteries of the school was a fun trip in general.

Helps "flesh out" the region and i am such a sucker for fluff.

Yeah, especially the ghost girl. With many previous ghosts we're just told hey something vague happened without getting attached. I felt bad for them but never an "Oh my gosh!" sort of thing. Not counting B2W2 of course. With this I could form a theory within moments on what had happened. And we got an adorable wedding with Pikachu.

You get absolutely nothing otu of it, but the choose your own adventures in the GameFreak office and the School library are also pretty cute.
I may have spent like 5 minutes working my way through the school's a dozen times to find the actual ending.

Agreed, it's just the little things like that or learning that your mom was Meowth Scratch Girl in Kanto that makes everything feel less empty.

Serebii should update the Version Exclusives page to remove all of the fossil Pokemon. The fossils can be found in Poke Pelago regardless of version.

I think everyone's missing out the saviour that is the return of the fast HP-bar-going-down system. The amount of times I sat while playing SM and I thought the 1HP hadn't gone done and got really frustrated, only for the game to pull a troll face.
