over the years of playing the games, has there ever been pokemon that you've NEVER trained for real battling before? Even though everyone else and their grandmother had? (and please, only list pokemon that are commonly used for competitive play, not obvious weaklings like Magikarp. and put down your reasons on why you've never used them.)
Nidoqueen and Nidoking: it's kind of odd how I've never gotten around to training these guys, usually I'd capture a male and female Nidoran near the begining of the game, but they'll be put into a box and stay there for all eternity. Usually, it wouldn't be until I got to the Safari Zone that I'll capture and Nidorina and a Nidorino and evolve them as soon as I got out of there.
Abra line: I never liked the abra line much... first of, when I first got by blue game, I thought it was a once-of pokemon because the page in the game manual that explained about them had a pic of Abra. Needless to say, the first I'm I encountered an abra it teleported and I thought it was gone forever. I gave up trying to get Abra and got a Drowzee instead. I also decided to use pokemon that my game rival wasn't using. He chose Alakazam, I used Hypno. When GSC arrived, the rival used Alakazam again, I didn't bother going to get alakazam again and used Xatu. In RS, I caught a Ralts, and it rarely ever failed me. It wasn't until then I discovered it's horrid defenses... plus it's design doesn't look right compared to the other psychic pokemon I've used over the years, even Espeon from the eeveelutions (who I never really used until Colosseum) is better. Plus I didn't have anyone to trade with to get an Alakazam.
Machop line: This was a case of procrastination. I've always wanted to train a Machamp, but never got the chance to because I would already have chosen 6 other pokemon for my team and Machop would be left to collect dust
Ghastly line: I wasn't a big fan of ghost types before... It wasn't until Colosseum that I saw their usefulness. This type I actually do plan on training a Gengar this time around.
Starmie: I've actually never used a starmie before, even though everyone else had because it has great stats, maybe because I don't usually use genderless pokemon :\. I'll use one eventually.
I'll add more when I think of them.
