Pokemon's Future

I'm not sure if a thread like this has been started so it was meh, my mistake.

Looking back at the past during the Red and Green era, what do you think Pokemon's future will be? Do you think Ash will become the ELite Trainer like Lance and Steven? Do you think the world of Pokemon will shows us more characters other than Trainers...? Etc..Anything you think will happen in the future.

Pokemon games will become worst and worst with the time. Maybe the Nintendo DS' Wi-Fi can save Pokemon with worldwide battles.

Anyways, I think Pokemon will go away for a while (in about 8 years), then come back remodeled....Think "Transformers".

For some reason, I predict (or hope) that Pokémon will adopt a darker and edgier (but not too much) image that will attract new fans, please older ones, and will move the series forwards. This new style will up the storytelling and make the overall game more exciting and appealing. Pokémon will suddenly be "cool" again, despite its past "kiddiness"...

Well, I kinda do think that Pokemon is liable to get worse and worse over the years. But, there is a lot of things that could be added to Pokemon to make it even better, such as new, original Pokemon, new type combinations (that will actually help the series), new and neccessary attacks, and maybe a change in the battle mechanics (only a little one, though).

As long as the games remain innovative as time goes by, I'm sure that they'll sell at least reasonably well, though the anime and cards may be a different story.

I agree with everyone here.
The Anime will probably die out in a few more years, as well as the card game.
But the games will just get better and better. Do you know why? With the Wi-Fi Pokemon Fans from all over the world will be able to trade, talk and battle each other. That's my vision. It'll make getting Jirachi, Celebi and Deoxys easier (and possible) to get.

I would tend to agree, but not before one last "hurrah" with D/P
If all goes well, I'm hoping that DP will bring respect back to the Pokemon Franchise. The entire idea of the games was to encourage interactions between players (trading, battling ect) If wifi is implemented correctly (WHAT ELSE EXPLAINS THE INSANE AMOUNT OF TIME ITS TAKING TO MAKE THIS GAME?!?!) then I can expect everyone from elementary age children to adults playing over the web.. Thats going to be huge..

They need to add something with substance to keep the franchise going. I mean, sure. Berries, Natures, Etc. It's all /okay/. But all of the games are basically the same. I even like Red a little better than the new ones because some of the new features (like the phone/match call) are just annoying. I think that making new pokemon out of the same 'molds' is getting redundant. (I.E. Pidgey, Tailow; Caterpie/Weedle, Wurple; Magikap, Feebas) The new pokemon they add need to be a little more than just another bird, bug, whatever. I understand that 386 pokemon already can use up a lot of the good ideas but, really. It's gotta be fresh. All the berries, graphics, and phone calls from annoying trainers in the world will not improve Pokemon much further. I think they've gotten a little carried away with the graphics lately. Storyline is a little more important. In the old games, things made a little more sense. In the new games, sometimes it seems like half of it is just talking to random people until someone hands you an HM or tells you to do them a random favor.

Well, we know for sure that there won't be any new types. So that's out...
Pokedex sounds plausible. 500 is nice round number.
Highly doubt were getting remakes of these games; I can, however, imagine them being a second quest (like Kanto was to GSC) in the new games. That would please everyone.

I always wanted remakes of G/S/C and hopefully if The DS Cartridge is big enought The Character could even go to Hoenn!

yeah, In my opinion the games are getting better. Also i think pokemon will be big for a few more years then dissapear for a few years.

yes . finally someone with brains!i agree with the idea of pokemon getting darker, maybe non gamecube shadows.
i think that pokemon will after awhile go away ,then only the true pokemon fans, like the people on the forums and smogon, will shelter whats left , and then when its back we will be able to laugh at those who hated pokemon, and we will defeat them all in battles and be named true pokemon champions!the old pokemon will also be forgotten in all the newness and i hope we will be able to trade between the games out now and future games.
i also like the idea of there being remakes of the second generation, because thats what caused pokemon to almost die ouy in the first place.
Or maybe pokemon will just die out like digimon.
But no matter what happens I, Goldfly2005, will stay a true pokemon fan and try with all in my power to keep pokemon alive and prosperous!
