before i lost my red cartridge, my nurse joy said that one of my pokemon is infected with pokerus. I didn't have a pc at the time so i couldn't look it up at the time, and i remembered when i got sick with a cold. I want to know from you guys if pokerus is a real thing and if it does, does it exist, is it in generation 1 games? My fire red was used so, I was wondering if it was a hack or something.

good, i got it during gen 3 was out and my friend who gave it to me said it may have been hacked due to the pokerus thing, again, the hacker thought of it as an extra challenge

Pokerus is actually helpful, if you care about EVs and such, but aside from that, it does nothing really.

You could probably find an answer by looking up Gameshark codes. I couldn't find a Pokerus code for Red/Blue, but found one for G/S, so it was definitely programmed into the game by the second generation.
