A few days ago I was showing a friend who's been off the pokemon wagon for quite some time a battle in PBR, he wanted to see how the pokemon sounded. He remembered that back in the day when he got Pokemon Stadium, the first time he heard pikachu's cry, he sounded like an elephant. Grant it, he played the n64 game before he ever touched the handhelds.

While they changed a bit on the consoles, the pokemon from the first generations' cries have gone virtually untouched, though the first two stadium games did have a more noticeable change in the sound of the cries.

In any case, my focus is on the pokemon from the earliest generations' cries. They have pretty much stayed the same through the years while the new pokemon's cries have been getting mroe and more intricate, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Should they be updated?

In case you need it, here is a video with all current pokemon's cries (the sound isn't of the best quality buty ou get the idea)

To avoid pointless arguing, please discard the possibility of having the pokemon's cries be voiced over.
