I don't get Articuno's appeal when Gen 1 had so many other good Ice types already, some of whom were objectively better looking than Articuno.

Zapdos for sure since it's the easiest Legendary Bird to get to since there are no puzzles involved or long dungeons.

I never really thought of this, but I guess it's true. Thunder seemed like a fairly easy Pokemon to locate compared to Freezer, who was hidden deep inside an island involving a tough current puzzle.
