Katy needs a major flop to open her eyes and push herself. She's never going to grow if she keeps feeding audiences this weak disposable anthems. One thing is having a signature style, but another one is never expanding it or experimenting with it. She's a sweet girl with a lot of potential but she needs to be aware of how tiring fixed gimmicks are.
I'm actually really bored with music this year. Everything is disappointing. If anyone has some recommendations, I'm open to them.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Wanderlust is a great album that came out this year.
^The R.Kelly version remains the best.

It's kind of brilliant imo. I love the production and the tempo changes. The vocals/lyrics are somewhat incoherent but I think it adds to the mystery of the track. I really like it.
Also the lyrics are a lot less cliched than her previous work which works nicely.

I love West Coast, so excited for Ultraviolence. Hoping it's going to be amazing considering how boring pop music's been lately. Gaga & Katy and the like really need to take some time off imo. Can't wait till Taylor drops her summer single though!

I think West Coast isn't a bad song but I find Lana Del Rey overhyped by tumblr gays (for a lack of a better term sorry I just see all the gay men over there freaking out about her - at least it's not as bad as Lorde who's music I can't ****ing stand). I was pleasantly surprised by West Coast though.

I'm unsure how many of you guys actually like Miley Cyrus (I'm pretty sure you guys don't, lol) but I personally like Bangerz. I don't really like "4x4" though, and I don't think it's going to be a very successful single. Miley's relying too much on shock value now and most people are getting tired of it *cough* the "Adore You" music video and how it barely got any attention *cough*. Plus I don't think "4x4" is catchy enough anyways to introduce more people to her music. "FU" would have been a much better choice, though it would probably sound horrible on the radio, judging from how heavily edited it was at the VSFS.

coldplay have premiered another new song. i think i prefer it to midnight and magic, but it's a bit different. almost parachutes-y. apparently they have collaborated with jon hopkins on the upcoming album too so i'm well excited
I really like 4x4, but I don't think it's a good single choice. SMS would've been better or even Do My Thang, but whatever.
After Dark Horse this is another disappointment to be frank. I think that she seems self-aware though, at least.
She is, in general, very overrated as an artist but her stans tend to be the most defensive around so I don't even bother. West Coast I agree is promising and I'm open to changing my opinion if Ultraviolence is up to scratch.
