Pokemon Organized Play has announced today that on April 24th the Pokemon Organized Play floor rules will be updated to include the rule that Art-Backed Sleeves (including Japanese Pokeball sleeves) will be forbidden at POP Premiere Events (except Prereleases). This rule is to eliminate any possiblity of intenitionally marked sleeves which is easy to accomplish due to complex designs that any artback sleeve provides. This also eliminates any possiblity of orientation marking during game play.

I would advise against certain metalic sleeves my friend if you can see the faces of the card on the back of the sleeves as those too are already ban, otherwise it will be fine.

Now understand art-backed sleeves are not completly banned you just cannot use them in any City, State, Regional, National, Gym Challenge, or World Championship event. You can use the sleeves at Prereleases, regular POP tournaments, and League at the League Leaders or Tournament Organizer's discretion consult your TO for more information whether he or she allows art backed sleeves.

Metallic sleeves are not banned from Pop. Period. They didn't allow a certain make of sleeves at worlds, but I have used the sleeves that weren't allowed there at tournaments this year without any problems from the staff running the event. Its very difficult to see the card faces without precision placed lighting.

And im sure my league leader will allow them, since I'm related to her. :p

Um... have you even cared to look at the POP Floor Rules? Its say right in there that "The sleeves are not reflective enough to be used to determine the faces of cards that remain in the deck."

Now as I said not all metalic like sleeves are illegal, you may have used okay sleeves but your comment greatly shows that you have disreguard to the rules.

CERTAIN metallic sleeves WERE banned from the 2005 World Championships, for the reason that they could be used for seeing the card faces. At the City Championships (and state championships) in the 2005/2006 season, people in my league group (I accidently implied I was using them, I wasn't. I was using art back sleeves) were using the sleeves that had been banned from worlds, but had no problem when having their decks checked or otherwise. One of them even made it to the semi-finals at states, and he was using those sleeves. It would make sense that if there was a rule against using metallic sleeves in the floor rules, that sleeves that had been banned from one of the largest existing Pokemon tournaments would remain banned. That would challenge the notion that they were "okay sleeves".

I assume that next you are going to accuse me of using reflective sleeves to cheat.
