Porygon

General Blaze

Not the face!
Hi, It's General Blaze People! I was just wondering if Porygon;137; and Porygon2;233; were good Pokemon, cause I'm thinking about having it on my LeafGreen team when I get the game. If it is, then what moves should I keep on it?

Try looking at the site pokedex maybe that help you. All I can is shadow ball beacause Porygon is a normal type pokemon.

LG? Good choice, 'cause Porygon's cheaper at the Game Corner than it is in FR (6,500 as opposed to 9,999). Personally, I think Porygon's a cool Pokemon, but I've never found there to be much you can do with it. It only evolves through trade (which sucked for me, since no one 'round here plays), too, but ah... suggested moves? I'm not sure. Serebii.net has some move charts, etc. for both, I'm sure.

I don't know, but that's an interesting pokemon to keep on your team. You like Porygon a lot or something? ^_^

I'm not a big fan of it (I'm more of a Blaziken and Typhlosion Fan) but I felt like using a Pokemon that I never used before.

I've thought it over, and I cameup with these two movesets.

Set 1
Thunder Wave
Sharpen
Tri-Attack
Recover

Set 2
Recover
Thunderbolt
Toxic
Psychic

How are those move sets?

Modest Nature @ Leftovers
Thunder Wave
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Recover

Recover obviously is on there so that you can, well, Recover up any damage and continue frustrating the foe. You have the option of Toxic over Thunder Wave if you're playing a game of attrition, but Thunder Wave is more standard since waving stuff is useful. BoltBeam coverage is on there and is expendable due to an outstanding SAtk. rating.

EVs: 228 HP, 174 Def., 108 SAtk.

prophecy fulfilled
no it doesn't have bad stats

hp is above average

attack is poor but uneeded

defence is averageish along with good hp makes it bearable

speed is poor but it isn't going to sweep anything soon

special attack is pretty nice, it's able to ohko salamence with ice beam and also take out a lot of stuff with bolt beam

special defence is good seeming as it has no special weaknesses

now add that to the moveset

thunderbolt
ice beam
recover
thunder wave / toxic

pretty nice, but yes snorlax and blissey outclass it

just go to www.smogon.com and check out porygon2's analysis page

breathe, spit, walk
Personally I think you should use Porygon2 as Porygon itself doesn't have the stats to be really effective.

Toxic kind of sucks on Porygon2, I'd prefer Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Thunder Wave/Recover This hits nearly everything, can recover when low on health, and gives some parasupport to the team.

It's not as bad when you actually know how to use the guy. He's not really meant for heavy usage, but rather as more of a utility since that's how he's designed.
