Explorer of Ruins
Intelleon: Bond or Bourne for male. De Winter for female. Spies, man.
Snom/Frosmoth: Snomy, Snomie or Snommy. Can't pick a spelling yet
Dracozolt: Bolting, Draconia (female), Zoltina, Voltpulse, Lightnin… Hmm. Hard one.
Runerigus: Relic. That's the only name I need for this guy/gal.
Appletun: Pie. Yes, very predictable
Corviknight: Strafe, Flyknight, Steel, Soldier. And possibly more.
Pincurchin: Voltpin, Pinzap, Pinurchi.

More to come, probably. I'll name just about every Pokémon I catch even if they aren't on my team or backup.

Ophie

Salingerian Phony
The pattern I typically use is in-game Pokémon used for going through the story get people names that aren't related to anything, while Pokémon I use for online battling and other sorts of multiplayer (including Max Raid Battles) get people names that refer to the Pokémon itself. No names shall repeat, and I try to avoid names already in use by significant human characters. Some of the non-finalized names for the Generation VIII Pokémon in this latter category include:

Rillaboom: Tycho
Thievul: Nick
Drednaw: Jefferson
Eldegoss: Gina
Coalossus: Cole
Flapple/Appletun: Jonathan/Crispin/Melba/Akane
Weezing (Galarian or not): Gaston
Runerigus: Rooney
Rapidash: Eunice
Polteageist: Earl
Grapploct: Octavius
Mr. Rime: Chappy ("Charlie" has already been taken via the Charmander line)
Eiscue: Larson/Ross

Usually though, I decide on the Pokémon on a team, then do some research to seek out potential names.

Ghost-Type Master
Whoa, I just got an idea! Might be pretty funny to do.

What if I gave all my pokemon Digimon-like names? I'm sure it's been done before, but I like it!

Intelleon - Spymon
Aegislash - Aegimon
Corviknight - Chilvarmon
Milotic - Maimon
Dubwool - Woolmon
Grimmsnarl - Insidioumon
Cursola - Reefmon
Galarian Weezing - Chimnemon
Hatterene - Anechomon

It's not a game Kate.
This might sound weird but I don't like to nickname a pokemon till I've 'met' them and know what suits them.

Alolan (and soon to be Galarian) trainer
Going through all my possible teammates...

Intelleon: Either James Pond or Romanoff, I’m guessing I don’t need to give explanations for these.
Toxtricity: Barney, Skillet, or Fold, first one is obvious, last two are rock band names. Edit: I’m now also considering the name Steg, from a certain fusion in Steven Universe.
Boltund: Bolt, from a certain Disney movie.
Centiskorch: Either Centi or Whiplash, first one from Nephrite’s nickname in Steven Universe, last one because it gets Fire Lash.
Sirfetch’d: Norberto, from a certain knight in Dragon Quest.
Aegislash (I know it’s an old ‘Mon but this is the perfect game to use one): Excalebur, because I’ve been waiting to use this pun for ages.
Alcremie: No idea, TBH. I’m open to suggestions.
Indeedee: Dee, from my current most wanted Smash character.

Here's some (admittedly mediocre) suggestions for ya.

Mary Berry - A british chef/baker and former judge of the Great Britsh Bake-Off
Capone - Al Capone Alcremie
Weird Al - Weird Al Alcremie
Together Breakfast - To many characters I'm afraid.
Alice - Alice in wonderland reference
Prue Leith - A british chef/baker and one of the current judges of the Great Britsh Bake-Off

Alcremie's various flavours can also provide great nickname inspiration.

You! Me! Rivals! Yes?
These aren't final, but right now I'm thinking:

Rillaboom: Cadbury, in reference to a TV ad for Cadbury chocolate that featured gorilla playing the drums to "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins.
Corviknight: Nevermore, in reference to Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven".
Bolthund: Tizer, named after my friend's dog (Tizer is a semi-popular soft drink here in the UK).
Cinderace: Hazel, after the Watership Down character.
Galarian Rapidash: Rarity, after the My Little Pony character.
Dubwool: Herdwick, after my favourite breed of sheep (even though Dubwool's design is more of a Jacob than a Herdwick).
Copperajah: Ironhide, after the Transformers character (there was a toy of Ironhide in the Beast Wars toyline of the 90's that turned into an elephant) plus it's a fitting name for a Steel-type.
Frosmoth: White Satin, after the white satin moth, but also because it reminds me of "Nights in White Satin" by the Moody Blues, a song I really like.
Cramorant: Harbourmaster, after a bar on my town's harbour I like going to (cormorants, the bird Cramorant is based on, are a common sight in this harbour).

That commercial was recommended to me on youtube not that long ago, also Cadbury is my nickname for Blissey (Creme Egg is my nickname for Chansey). Too coincidentally

Here's some of mine, I tried to think of things related to the UK for some of them, and some are more random. I'll still need to think of some names for other possible captures!

Yamper: Cricket, Chuffed, Guvah

Wooloo/Dubwool: Flooferie, Yarrow, Bosie (A Scottish slang word for a hug), Hufflepuff, Yaldi

G. Rapidash: Tourmaline( because of the colors), Iridescent, Effervescent(or Effy for short), Opal.

Thievul: Viscount, Nabber, Filch.

Frosmoth: Slush, Facet, Duchess.(still not completely happy with these, have to think on it some more)

G.Linoone: Dart, Slytherpuff, Brammer, Boggart

Corviknight: Poe ( For Edgar Allen Poe of course)

Appletun: Crumble
