Chapter One
May Maple sat with her bare-footed feet dangling into the water of a large lake. She was currently on her own in the new region of the Mirayan islands. Max had gone on his journey a long time ago, Brock had finally found true love with a large-chested blonde yet smart girl who actually found him funny and Ash and Pikachu had gone to train with the elite four. She still kept in touch with them on the phone but she was incredibly lonely inside at times.
She sighed and swirled her feet around in the water, blurring the water. This was one of those times. She took a bite of the chocolate bar she was eating and gazed down into the water again. She then saw someone she hadn’t seen in over a year reflected there, smirking down at her. She nearly choked on the chocolate if it weren’t for him thumping on her back with a worried expression on his face. When she swallowed it, she gasped and turned to face him.
“D-Drew?!” She asked. He smirked at her and gave his hair a flick, just like he used to. Drew hadn’t changed.
“Obviously,” He said in his silky-smooth voice. May gasped again at the intensity of it. The last time she had seen him, he looked just like boy-Drew. Now he was man-Drew and he was…fantastic. His shoulders had become wider and he had subtle muscle from his chest to his arms to even his legs. She gulped and then blushed, coming to realise what she had just been doing. “It’s nice to see you May.” He said, smiling slightly.
“R-really?” she asked him again. Drew could say the exact same things about May too. Her hips had widened, her hair was now just nearing her waist and lets just say she had become a lot more “Developed”. Although Drew did nothing to show it, he found May very attractive. He shook himself mentally.
“Yeah,” He said, smirking again. “It’ll be a pleasure to beat you again!” He s******ed. May got more angry.
“WHY YOU LITTLE-” She got broken ff by Drew shoving a Rose into her face, almost pricking her with its thorns. She paused and then took it. She looked at it curiously. “Where do you get all these things?!” She asked him. He shrugged like he didn’t even know. Like they just appeared.
“So, where are your friends and brother? They ditch you?” He smirked but may didn’t find it funny at all.
“NO!” She yelled at him with tears stinging her eyes. She threw the rose at his feet. “Max went on his journey, Brock went home and Ash’s with the Elite four!!! So, in fact, yes! You were right! They did ditch me! Thanks for reminding me you jerk!!!” she then turned around and ran away. Sprinted more like. People watched her run off behind a hill and then turned back to glare at Drew. He put his hand to his face.
“Me and my big mouth…” He said.

Drew strode down the sidewalk with his hands in his pockets looking half in front, half at the floor. He felt terribly guilty about what happened with May.
“So her friends left her?” He thought. “Maybe I can do something to make her feel better…” He stopped in the middle of walking when he realised what he had just thought. He shook it off. “It’s just because I feel guilty, It’s just because I feel guilty, It’s just because I feel guilty…” He thought to himself over and over again to jam it into his head.

May sat on her bed in the pokemon center, sobbing.
“Stupid Drew…” She thought angrily. She then tossed her feet over the edge of the bed and went outside, locking the door on her way out. She walked down the stairs to the videophones. She sat at one and dialled a number she knew very well. She was greeted by a literally red haired man who was smiling at her.
“Hey May,” He said. “I suppose you want to talk to Ash?” May nodded and the all-knowing Lance smirked. May looked sadly at the floor at that. “What’s up, that way I can tell him.” He said.
“J-just tell him it’s about an annoying green haired guy…” May said timidly.
“ASH!!!” Lance yelled from the phone. He had stepped out and yelled out the door towards the battlefeild, where he knew Ash would be. “IT’S MAY!!! SHE’S HAVING A CRICIS AGAIN!!!” He finished. Ash ran straight up to them, sweating with an exhausted Pikachu on his shoulder.
“What’s happened this time?” He asked. May called by the week with something wrong. She called him during the week as well but only to say hi to him and Pikachu. This was serious time. She always had something to cry about: Feeling alone, worrying about Max, her pokemon, her battling or contest ribbons.
“Some green haired dude.” Lance replied. Ash gulped worriedly.
“This is bad…” He said. Lance looked confused. “his name’s Drew and he’s a coordinator like her. They’re bitter rivals and he’s always insulting her…but sometimes he gives her roses and advice…on good day.”
“Roses?” Lance asked. “Sounds like someone likes May.” He said.
“Ya think?” Ash said, smiling in happiness for his friend. “Who?” He asked.
“Drew, you dolt! Now go talk to her-she’s waiting and crying!” Lance said, giving him a push.

May, waiting had gazed at her new PokeNav from her parents. It had all sorts of stuff in it but the part she liked the most was her pictures that she had taken. There was one of Ash, Pikachu, both of them, Brock, Max and all the people she had met since getting it. There was also one of all five of them:Max, Ash, Pikachu, Brock and herself, in a picture, grinning. She was a long way from that now.
She looked at a map of the Mirayan islands: she was at Beginners point at the moment after getting off the ferry. She had participated ina contest and won gracefully…too bad that the Mirayan circuit was longer and took a whole seven ribbons to enter the grand festival. That, and the Beginners point contest was far most the easiest, she had heard.
“May?” A voice asked. She joyously turned around to see the faces of her best friend and his pokemon. She picked up the receiver and belted out a massive wail.
“WAAAAAHHHH!!!”
“May, may! Come on, it’ll be alright!” Ash said.
“Pikapika!” His yellow rodent friend added as worried as Ash was.
“Now what’s this about Drew?” Ash asked one May had calmed down a bit.
“W-well, I think he’s in the c-contest too,” May sniffed. “A-and he asked me where y-you guys were…a-and then he asked if you d-ditched me a-and…” May burst into tears again, causing Ash to hold his end of the phone at an arms length. “S-sorry…” May stammered.
“It’s okay. Drew should never of said that!” Ash said, angrily. “We didn’t ditch you! We all went out separate ways. We knew we had to at some point,” He smiled. “Drew’s a pompous moron. Don’t listen to him.” May giggled.
“Thanks Ash,” She said, gratefully. “You’re the thing that keeps me going in this crazy place. But you shouldn’t call Drew a moron…he’s not. He’s really smart…and he looks kinda cute too!” She giggled. Not known to her, Drew was behind a pillar and blushed at that last remark.
“Where’s your next stop?” Ash asked her.
“Moonstone island!” May replied, cheerfully. “It’s shaped like a moon and hosts loads of moons stones and places where you can capture pokemon that have been evolved by moon stones. I’m going to catch a load! I’m already setting my sights on an Umbreon, Espeon and a Clefable!” Ash smiled.
“Gary used to have an Umbreon…he probably stil does…I should call him sometime. He’s working on pre-historic pokemon resuscitation or something…gotta go now. Gotta train!” He said. May smiled and waved him off, smiling. She leapt off her chair in a cheery mood and whacked straight into someone much taller than her’s forehead, almost knocking her down but they grabbed her by the waist to save her the uncomfortable trip. She looked up to see a head of green hair. When he saw her, he grinned. She screamed, causing him to drop her.
“Oww…..” She said. Drew outstretched hs hand to help her get up. She gladly took it and got up. They both did nothing for a while, still holding the others hand. About two minutes passed them by without any sign of life until they both released at the same time, blushing like tomatoes.
“M-may?” Drew asked, once he’d gotten over the outrageously awkward moment. She, however, had not and was still blushing a lovely shade of pink. “W-well, I felt kinda guilty over what happened back at the lake so I just wanted to ask you something…do ya want to travel with me?” He blushed again, as did May.
“Do you mean it?” She asked. “You’re not doing this just to set me up, are you?” she asked him suspiciously. He shook his head.
“Nope. I’m saying we bury the hatchet…whatever it was. That’s not going to stop me cracking on your coordinating skills but that’s the wonder of Drew Andrews. So, you in?” He asked her, his arm outstretched again in as a white flag, a truce, a sign of almost friendship. May paused for a second and looked up a the boy, then back at his hand. She paused again and then grinned. She slapped her hand against his and then shook it.
“I’m in. This is a truce,” She said. “A sign of an almost-friendship. And don’t think I won’t come up with wittier comebacks!” She laughed.
“I won’t hold that one if I were you, my insults are pretty witty.” He said, flicking his hair. May wacked him on the back of the head, or at least tried to seeing as though he dodged it at the last second. “Missed me.” He laughed. She laughed along with him.
“Come on, you moron. You can share my room tonight. That gave me two beds.” She said. Drew’s heart immediately sped up at the thought of being alone in a room with only him and May in their pyjamas, which for him was shorts, leaving his muscled chest for the world to see…if the world was there, that is. He thought about May’s nightwear...what clothes could she possibly wear to make his heart pound out of its mind. That would, of course, happen tonight and every night from then on. He knew it. He mentally shook himself for the second time that day, the third time he had to come to his sences and all of those times had something to do with May.
“What is happening to me?!” He asked himself as he followed may down the corridor towards her room…
