I look over my team, and I notice that 4 of them were caught before Brawly. 3 of them were caught before Roxanne. And the Absol is the only one caught after Norman.

Are some of the pokmeon caught in the early game really that powerful later on?

I agree, I guess you can say that Nintendo did a good job at putting powerful pokemon at the beginning.

I know. I'm probably going to take at least some of them all the way to the Elite 4

I used numel from the start and he is pretty cool also i used my swellow untill lvl 31 and switched to a pelipper

Well I always get Ralts, Wurmple, and a Tailow. Once you train'em... they're so cool.

Out of a crazy mind.
I think a Marill, Tailow, and a Ralts would be good from the start

First gym-Marill easy wins
Second gym-Ralts
Third gym-Geodude (you'll get one later on)
Fourth gym-Marill again
you should ave no problem for the rest.

no no no i wouldn't call them powerful pokemon at the beginning.
When you first catch em they're pretty weak. BUT, the key is that they all evolve into good pokemon. If you do the game as I believe was intended, all the earlier pokemon evolve at the right point to be strong enuf to handle things when they come and then you use later pokemon to just make adjustments to your team

Numel is pretty useless unless ev trained against the elite four! I usually keep substitues in my team until i get the team i chose and ev train them!

I think that Poochyena, Ralts, Taillow and a Geodude are strong pokemons from the beginning.

Xtra: Absol isn't from the beginning.

they are good only becouse they are low levd
if you catch a level 40 Medicham for example
so will he be having wors stats then if you catch medicham on lowest level possible

(Wurmple on level 2 gets better stats then a Wurmple on level 6)
thats why you starter is on lvl 5, to get it balanced

Don't forget Lotad! Ludicolo has helped me through a lot of sticky situations.

Taillow, Ralts, and maybe Poochyena or Marill are also handy.

Do not pass Go.
In FR as soon as I reach Cerulean I immeadietly go and catch an Abra, as Kadabra/Alakazam is awesome, especially in ingame =]

Really? My Camerupt can take down almost all the E4 on it's own with next to no EV training.

Lotad is 00ber!

Well, not really, but if you have a friend that can give you a water stone early on, you can easily have a Ludicolo before you even battle Roxanne. And Ludicolo just sweeps away at the beginning. You could also try and get your friend to give Ludi surf :p

Taillow is also very useful. Wing Attack so early in the game is just...great. It kills all the early on grass and bug types in one hit!

Ralts kinda sucks at the beginning, but if you take the time to evolve it it can be pretty good.

I would say that Ralts is strong later on, especially when you fully evolve them. I always have one on my team.

My team I beat the Elite 4 with was Azumarill, Blazkien, Gardevoir, Sableye, Aggron and Beautifly. Aggron was the last addition to my team and was caught at level 10 i think, Sableye was 9, Gardevoir 4, Blaziken 5, Azumarill was rather weak but I don't remember exactly (maybe around 9? will have to check) Wurmple was level 2/3/4.

So while I don't know if they're stronger or not, I just enjoyed the team I used. I always wanted an Aggron. I'd played emerald like twice before, i dont think i'd ever beat the E4 but I know I'd always given up on training Aron for whatever reason and gone with something different.

Yes, and the general "kid" playing the game only cares about the Groundon/Kyogre/etc. in the game, and misses this.

All of the best are usually early on-just more difficult to train. Wurmples are good at the start of the game, as they can get basically whatever attacks you need as you progress...
