Jokes aside, I do have a question or two. With a very fat border of 8 pixels, does that leave the canvas to 451x110? Also, can the border be of any color or does it have to be black or white?

See the difference? You can easily achive this effect by using a large soft brushes and use the sides of the brush on the places where you want your lighting.

Yes. The colour of the border can be any colour, even pink.

See the difference? You can easily achive this effect by using a large soft brushes and use the sides of the brush on the places where you want your lighting.

If you use photoshop I find a very handy to tool for lighting is the Dodge tool.

Lighting can also mean the light source; so if the image you use has a light source from one direction, you have to orientate it so it appears that the light is coming from the left side of the banner.
You could also use Gradients for this to the same effect:

Hello contestants, we will start the fourth round, now. This round will be a

Normal Round

You will make one banner and one icon.

The theme will be "Birthday".

You will have to hand in your submission before 19 June 6 PM (GMT) via PM to pupintheturd. Everything that is handed in after the given time will receive penalty points equal to the amount of hours too late + 1.

Also, everyone that survives after this round enters the grand finale. So grab that final spot with the final three!

Nil points, unfortunately. Even if she handed in something now, it'd be no use; presuming she got the highest score that can be gotten (90), with the amount of hours she's late, her score would still be zero (-2, actually).

It was due in at 6pm on the 9th, and now it's not even 6pm on the 12th. That's less than three days, and 3 days = 72 hours. She could still get SOME points (up to 18 presuming she hands it in before 6pm today) which could make the difference between making it to the finale and being knocked out :/
