Problems with PNG's

I have a few problems with PNG's:

1. If I save an image as PNG, I can't open it in MS Paint.

2. I don't have the option of saving an image as a PNG in MS Paint.

Why is this?

Is it possibe to download newer verions of ms paint on WinME?

nope. but you can always try downloading a freeware image editor that does support ME.
