Prof. Gureshaw's Midnight Course

VampirateMace

Internet Overlord
Prof. Gureshaw’s Midnight Course

RPG is up, but Sign-ups are still open!
RPG Tread

This is an RPG about balancing school responsibilities, friends, and magic. It’s also an attempt to fix the problems inherent to ‘Prof. Gureshaw’s Correspondence School of Magic’ such as getting everybody in the same place so being on the same timeline is less of a pain.

There will not be much wand waving or instant magic in this RPG. Unlike the first version I will allow each player a special instant magic technique (such as limited forms of telepathy, telekinesis, and mesmerization) to keep things more interesting, but most magic will require time and ingredients. The trick is to use you instant magic, obtain ingredients, and fulfill other requirements for more complex magic, without looking like a fruitcake.

So, this RPG has the following changes:
* The setting is limited to a boarding school, this keeps the players physically together, and encourage interaction.
* I will be announcing the current time in my posts, and you will be expected to keep up, including attending or consciously skipping your classes. People who don’t post regularly will be expelled from the class.
* Each player gets a bit of instant magic to keep things from getting too slow, but this magic is of a limited sort.
* Prof. Gureshaw will be physically present. This will give me more to post if things get slow, but it also provides the opportunity for there to actual be assignments. Also it means I can add mythical ingredients to the spells, which you will have to ask the teacher for, and he will probably question why you want it… have fun with that.
___

Plot
You are a teenager [13-18] who for some reason or other has recently been sent to a remote boarding school just outside some small town you’ve never heard of before. It could be that you were having some sort of trouble in a public school, or that your parents couldn’t handle your anti-authoritative behavior. It might also have been that they were busy with work, and didn’t have time to keep an eye on you. Whatever the reason, you are now stuck at Mrs. Leary’s Boarding School for Girls and Boys, with a whole year ahead of you… and there’s not even any cell service. You might consider running away, but there’s really nowhere to run to.

It’s your third night, a Wednesday, when you find a folded note on your pillow, sealed with a blob of purple wax stamped with a dragon. It is a short message on crisp parchment, that looks like it was produced with a typewriter:

Dear Student,
You are hereby cordially invited to attend Prof. Gureshaw’s Craft Course. Class starts promptly at midnight, Monday through Friday, and will be in room B 06.

That’s it, nothing more.

No one mentioned any craft class to you, and you’re fairly certain you haven’t heard of a Prof. Gureshaw. Not to mention, the time and room sound implausible, no class you know of starts later than 4:00 pm, and according to your student guide, the basement rooms haven’t been used for classes in over 15 years.

Actually, this kind of sounds like an incognito invitation to some activity that’s against school rules. Your mind shuffles through possibilities, maybe it’s a fight club? Perhaps it’s a ghost story society? Or it might even be one of those dirty clubs where they pass around a contraband magazine.

But try as you might, you can’t figure out what Prof. Gureshaw or Craft might stand for. The dragon seal is cool though.

Nevertheless, out of curiosity or boredom, you make your way down to the basement classroom at the appointed time. You keep an eye out for staff, just incase this is a trick. The room appears to have once been a science lab, and is empty save for a couple of cupboards and some permanent dissection/sink/burner tables.

Near the chalkboard at the front of the room stands a short man, slightly past middle age. He’s slightly overweight with a round face and an old style mustache that sweeps up to meet his hair. The hair itself is dark grey, long, and pulled into a ponytail. His embroidered vest suit is old in style, complete with a pocket watch chain hanging from the right pocket, and powder blue in color. A white button up shirt, and shiny black leather shoes complete his ensemble.

He welcomes the students in a soft friendly voice, that wouldn’t have sounded out of place in an even older man’s throat. Five minutes after midnight, he shuts the door and looks over the group of students, “Well then, suppose this is a good turn out. See, I’m Prof. Gureshaw, and every year I contact a select few promising students to take a special course… it’s not actually a credit course, and I’m sorry to disappoint you if you were expecting art, because the craft in question is witchcraft.”

At this point you might scoff or gasp in shock, but you realize it’s true when Prof. Gureshaw lifts an hand and snaps his fingers, because the cabinets to either side of the chalkboard open up reveling a wide assortment of old leather books, beat up caldrons, and ancient looking tools. He smiles pleasantly, “Well then students, anyone who is interested, can come select a spell book from one of the cabinets. It will be your personal spell book during this course, and if you pass, you may keep it. Chose wisely though, each spell book is unique… Anyone who isn’t interested, feel free to go back to bed, this’ll all be just a dream by morning.”

No one leaves. Who stuck in this dreary place, would give up the chance to make things far more interesting anyways?

You wait anxiously for a chance to examine the remaining spell books. Each one is old. Each on is beautiful. Each on is unique. As you run your fingers over the spines, you can feel what could only be described as a powerful charge. Each book’s charge feels different and at last your fingers come to rest on the spine of a book whose charge feels just right. You pluck it from the shelf and stare at the title-less cover, still able to feel it’s powerful magical charge in your hands. This is going to be the best school year ever…
___

Instant Magic Options:
You will not discover your instant magical ability until sometime after Prof. Gureshaw mentions them within the first class (though it may have had some effect on your past, such as seeing the occasional ghost or being good with animals), and it will slowly get stronger from there. I may accept other instant magic powers than those listed below, but have a back up plan from the ones listed incase I don’t. And, please no fire/water/earth/air/etc benders, though a more subtle/realistic elemental control may be allowed.

*Telepathy - Witches with telepathy have the ability to speak mentally with other witches. These witches will also have the ability to talk to their spell books telepathically.

*Wild Speech - This ability allows witches to communicate with plants and animals on a primal level. The communication is not as complex or specific as English, but it’s better than an average person’s guess about what an animal/plant wants/needs.

*Spirit Contact - Witches with this ability are able to see and speak with spirits (ghosts, fairies/elementals, angels, and demons) when they concentrate (via meditation, trance, or séance).

*Telekinesis - An ability that needs to be practiced cautiously, witches with telekinesis can move smaller objects (ones they could physically lift) with their minds. Of course the larger and heavier it is, the harder it will be to move. Liquids and powders are also more difficult to move.

*Mesmerization - Similar to Hypnosis, but without that science stuff getting in the way, witches with this ability are able to captivate someone’s full attention for a few seconds, and may even be able implant the simplest of ideas into their minds. Angry/Frustrated people and animals are far less susceptible to being mesmerized.
___

Notes on Spell Books:
Which spell book you receive will be based on your Sign-up and the answers to the Spell Book Selection Quiz in your Sign-up. Please answer these questions as your character honestly would. There are new spell books, and I may even make up a custom one for you if your characters and answers warrant it.

Each book has it’s own appearance, learned spell, and personality.

When looking up spells/subjects in your book, make note of what you’re looking for and I’ll provide the lists/text/spells, including the ingredients and requirements/procedures. Not all subjects will be in your book (though Prof. Gureshaw or another student with a different book may still be willing to help you), but others may have multiple entries.

Example:
PLAYER: …Aileena looked over at the book, “Show me a list of spells that use lemons.”

ME: A list of spells appeared on the blank page at the front of the book:
Pep-me-up lemonade
Witch’s Obsession
The Cat Claw Curse
Eat Nothing Sweet…

As long as you perform the spell according to the directions, I’ll leave the success rate and exact results up to your imagination.

___

Me!!!

Name: Prof. Jonathan G. Gureshaw

Age: Unknown, he appears to be in his 50s or 60s

Gender: Male

Instant Magic Ability: Telekinesis - The Prof tends to make a show of the smaller stuff, snapping is fingers and such, which can start to look cheesy, but he really is at an advanced level for this ability.

Lifetime Goal/Dream: To find a student worthy of being his apprentice…

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: Currently, it’s being confronted by the Dean if he’s discovered to be in the school…

Appearance:
Prof. Gureshaw is an older man, somewhat round, and somewhat short. His complexion is a tinge red, having seen better days, and his round face has numerous small wrinkles. His eyes are a soft blue that almost matches the color of his signature vest suit, and his hair is a dark shade of grey. The hair itself is long and pulled up into a neat ponytail. For facial hair he has a big woolly mustache that creeps up to meet his sideburns in a old fashioned style, and plentiful bushy eyebrows.

For clothes he wears an old styled vest suit. It’s powder blue in color and decorated with embroidery, mostly small dark blue flowers and green leaves. Under this he wears a white button up shirt. Additionally he wears a black leather belt and shiny black leather shoes, and carries a gold pocket watch.

Personality:
Gureshaw is a kind man, slow to anger, and patient with his students. He’ll repeat lectures and provide extra reading material to students who are willing to ask. But there is a limit to his patients, and students that fail to make enough progress lose their spell books and memories of the class, at the end of the year. Students who fail won’t even remember the friends they’ve made in class if they never meet them outside of class and class homework.

He also craves attention. This leads to a bit of showmanship where demonstrating powers is concerned. It also affects the amount of care that goes into his personal appearance. He may not be the prettiest guy to look at, but he is well groomed. This craving also makes him susceptible to flattery as well. So, a student skilled at sucking up might be able scratch up enough extra credit points to pass even if they’ve failed almost all the assignments so far.

There are some kinds of attention he doesn’t want however, in particular, he dreads the thought of the Dean finding him and the chaos that would inevitably follow.

History:
Gureshaw is older than he appears. In his youth he studied with a great witch who gave him his first spell book. Over the years he’s collect many more books and learned a great many spells, including magic far too advanced for most witches. He knows however, that he can’t live forever. Would if he could, but the price of the alchemist’s stone isn’t something the nice old man could bear having on his conscious. So he’s decided to divide the majority of his spell books among emerging witches, reserving the most powerful and advanced books for the one that will be his apprentice.

He’s come to Mrs. Leary’s Boarding School in hopes of finding a suitable apprentice, a gifted student powerful and intelligent enough to learn more advanced magic by his side and someday inherit his most advanced spell book, Opalescence. It’s been several years since he started his search, but teaching classes of lower level witches while he waits has been a reward of it’s own. He’s here secretly however, and none of the other staff are aware of him, so most of them suspect the name Prof. Grueshaw is some sort of joke the older students play on the newer ones every year.

ROAWR!

Name: Diego 'DD' Derekson

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Instant Magic Ability: DD has a green thumb, which means that he can accelerate and promote growth in plants.

Lifetime Goal/Dream: To own a world renowned florists shop

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: Being rejected and removed from his familiy.

Appearance: DD is a large boy, easily breaking 6 feet tall and being built like a brickhouse, which often gets him mistaken for being older than he actually is. Being a stocky boy, he has a little bit of pudge, which has made him quite self conscious about his appearance. His skin is as white as white can be, any real attempts to get a tan resulting in nothing more than getting sunburnt, and he has freckles running up and down his arms. His hair is dark red, easy to mistake for brown, and it is long enough to be pulled back into a ponytail, which it normally is. His face is round, his nose large and lumpy, his eyes a dull green and he has a very persistent five o'clock shadow that always seems to be there even after he shaves.

Clothes wise, DD likes to wear a specific set of clothing. For shirts, he prefers to wear baggy collared shirts, specifically so that they don't cling to his body and embarrass him. Pants wise, DD likes to wear either footy shorts when he doesn't have class, or calf length shorts when he does. For shoes, he either wears joggers or thongs.

Personality: DD puts up a facade of being this big tough guy. He acts as if he is the **** of the walk and wants to make sure that everyone knows this. He refuses to take any crap from people and will, and has, go to blows with people that he finds to be incredibly annoying and refuses to stop. Well at least that is what he says, the truth is that due to the bullying he got, DD has gotten to the point when he will act out against any form of guys being too feminine or doing things that he considers to be 'girly'. However behind his cocky demeanor, he hides a part of himself that he definitely doesn't want other people to see. Being as interested in floristry and botany that he is, he has had to endure large amounts of bullying at his old school. The other kids deemed it to be girly and much too feminine and therefore gay, and as a result DD has very severe self esteem issues. To compound on this further, his problems have increased as he has started to feel conflicted about his sexuality, and is deathly afraid of anyone finding out and trying to use it against him, or worse, tell his parents. These feelings of being considered abnormal and being ostracized have played a large part in why DD acts the way he does, to try and ensure that no one ever finds out his secret.

History: Born in a small rural town, DD never really had much of what would be considered a cultural upbringing. Growing up, neither of his parents had much time for him, both were working hectic jobs to earn enough money to make sure that there was food on the table. Sure they spent as much time as they could with DD, but ultimately neither could spare that much time. As a result, DD spent most of his time with his older brother and sister, but they preferred to be by themselves rather then spent time with their dorky little brother. So with neither sibling wanting to give him the time of day, he soon found himself taking an interest in the flowers that grew in their small backyard.

Over time, DD taught himself how to treat them properly, how to plant them, fertilize them and everything else that they needed, and much to his surprise generally the flowers would grow to bloom every time. Before he hit Year 7, DD was very proud of his plants and would often boast about how good they were. And then came Year 7, which was probably one of the worst years of his life. A group of kids found out about his gardening and soon turned it against him, decrying him as a '***' and 'nancy boy', and soon had the majority of the year against him. This persisted for about a year, but eventually his parents heard about the brutal bullying. They immediately pulled him out of the school and sent him to a different one. It was there that DD decided that he wouldn't let what happened to him in his previous school happen to him again. And so he put up his cocky facade, and made sure that no one ever found out about his secret. However, his facade ended up getting him expelled. He ended up knocking the tooth out of some poor boy who DD found to be too feminine and eventually got way too 'annoyed' with him and punched him in the face. As a result of his expulsion, DD's parents decided to send him away to boarding school, and to hopefully get rid of his attitude.

Take it obviously, any money that gets left on the street is completely ripe for the taking.

4. It’s free painting time in art class, what do you paint?

Nothing, painting is for sissies and I am no sissy!

5. Do you think you’ll learn more from the book, or more from the Professor?

Just your Sleepy FIzzy Mod
Name: Cameron Kingston

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Instant Magic Ability: Spirit Contact (Wrong word LOL)
Lifetime Goal/Dream: To become a Marine Biologist

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: To die from being hanged

Appearance:

Cameron stands at around 5” 11, the standard height of where he is from. He’s thin, and has light skin, but he can tan a little easily, instead of burning up into freckles. His eyes are a turquoise color, which some home complements his hair. His hair is a light blond color, but not whitish blond. It isn't the dark Yellow blond either, or the unnatural blond where you could see darker hair color underneath. It’s complete natural light blond.

For clothing, he wears turquoise glasses on his head; they’re a square shape, but look natural on him. His clothing is of a sailor uniform, as his use to attend a school on the sea before having to go to the school. He wears a red cap with a black ribbon tied around the back, and a white shirt that has a red and black striped color. The pants are pure black, with no signs of any other color at all. His shirt’s sleeves are long, not short sleeves as well, with his pants reaching to his ankles. His shoes are red and black sailing boots, specifically black leather with a red thread trim. He also carries around a leather satchel to keep his things inside of, as it was traditional on sea.

Personality:

Cameron is a happy-go-luck sort of guy. He’s very sociable, on the verge of being annoying at times, but there is sort of a reason why he’s that way. He also tries to be optimistic all of the time to try and cheer people up, but most of the time people just call him a freak for being a little too happy.

He also has a love for marine life. He is particularly fond of marine mammals and sea turtles. He often collects shells whenever he’s at a beach or lake, as it always helps him keep the memory of the water close to him.

Though, not everything is good about him. He also gets scared very easily, but isn’t a pessimistic person, it’s just that how he was treated made him a little jumpy and edgy. He has a huge phobia of hair. Hair on your head is fine to him, he respects his elders with facial hair, but everything else just creeps him out. He also isn’t really fond of death, especially those involving strangling and hanging.

History:

Cameron grew up in a small home on the shore of Wales, where he spent most of his early ears in his life. He had happy time with his mom, knowing his dad always had to take on heavy business trips, but he always made it home for important events. Cameron had an understanding unlike other kids like him, his dad was trying to help his family, and that’s why he had to work long hours. When he was twelve, he was playing by the ocean one day, just collecting shells. It was one of the two days that changed his life. He heard a loud boom sound, and quickly ran up towards his house. He found the place ravaged, with glass everywhere, and most of his things broken. He saw a pool of blood, and saw his mother, shot strait through the head, dead in front of him.

It was one of the first times he cried; besides the usual baby cries of when he was younger. He was able to call his father and told him what happened. His father instantly came home, as he was at the airport to leave for a trip when he heard the news. After a couple of days of mourning, it was decided Cameron would go onto a school at sea when he was of age.

Cameron enjoyed being on the boat, it was an old-fashioned one, but it did help keep the kids in shape. It was a relatively small class of fourteen year old kids. They would be on the boat until they graduate, besides the weekly docking at a port to get supplies and so forth. Cameron had a happy time and made a friend. The two were literary attached to the waist. Everything was good for him, until during a stormy night. He and his friend had to close the sails so the ship didn't go off course. Of course, climbing up and down the mast isn’t easy, and he almost had tripped a few times. He and his friend were about to close it up, and his friend tripped. Though, what really struck him was that his friend’s neck had been caught in one of the ropes, and it seemed to have strangled him. He would be permanently scarred for his life.
After the incident, his dad decided to send him to boarding school, hoping for him to forget that memory, and some vulgar behavior he learned at sea.

Spell Book Selection Quiz:

(answer these as your character would)

1. What’s your favorite color?

Turquoise.

2. You see a penny (1 cent) the street, what do you do?

I should pick it up, I know it’s not a sell, but I do need some luck by my way, and who knows, and maybe it’ll help me get a memory of this place.

3. You see Penny (class clown) on the street, what do you do?

I’d go and talk to her. She seems nice enough, and even though she’s a distraction, she still manages to lighten up our moods.

4. it’s free painting time in art class, what do you paint?

I’d draw the sea, with the sun setting and the dolphins out of the water, I miss that.

5. Do you think you’ll learn more from the book, or more from the Professor?

I think the book, as I know the Professor is a busy man that we can’t talk too often, and it would be good with free time.

(Alright, I edited it. Also, there was a school in Wales for it.)

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: Ending alone, going insane

Appearance: Diego stands at five foot, 9 inches, light olive skin and stout. He has low cheekbones, a boyish face, no facial hair, and wears a pair of glasses that darken themselves in bright sunlight. His hair is black with subtle patches of very dark brown, mainly in the tips. His hair is kept trimmed and neat, however the ends on the back of his head are messy and spiky. He has slightly bigger than average eyes, which are chocolate brown. His eyes are large enough that they are noticeably larger than average, even by a margin amount.

Diego wears a black T-shirt with a gold yingyang symbol on front and a white silhouette of Quetzalcoatl, portrayed as an Ouroboros with the crescent moon and sun in the center of the loop on the back. He has on some black cargo pants with a good amount of pockets to carry stuff in if he needs to. He completes this with special socks and black-colored moccasins, in order to walk easier ad feel the earth. He also will wear an Eisenhower styled jacket with chest pockets to keep stuff in.

Personality: Diego has a soul of fire. He is a warm and passionate person with an occasion fiery temper and a burning streak for the pursuit for adventure and truth. He is very empathetic and has a great desire to help people out. Beneath this outgoing personality, Diego is a shy and quiet person. He is also a very artistic individual as he will often draw whenever he gets the chance to do so. He is very loyal, but can come on as clingy, especially around girls. He also likes to cook, which helps when he travels around. When in serious situations, he knows it is time for him to use his intelligence and strengths at their full capacity. He is very creative and know to be devious for his ideas.

He has his faults, however. Some of these are being blunt, sarcastic, picking fights, laziness and often day-dreaming during certain moments and saying a weird comment afterward. He may also show some malevolent intent or hold grudges for a while. He may even show cruel moments, characterized by a crazed grins and shadows under his eyes. He is prone to snarky or blunt comments and is often unable to figure out what to do in situations with people so will often mess things up, though he means no harm. Despite this or because of it, he tries to overcome these traits so people don’t judge him on his faults and see him as a good person. He has recently begun a Taoist path of philosophy.

He often has debated with his father, but has seen as one of his biggest inspirations in his life. He has a strong relationship with his mom, though he being a nerd and otaku confuses her often. He has a complex relationship with his brother. They argue a lot and often though see eye to eye. Although they look similar, they are nearly opposites in personality, with his brother having charisma, charm and good strength on him. However, his slothfulness is in school, resulting in debates with their dad. His favorite activity is being in the drumline of their old school.

His memories in elementary are not well remembered, besides some bad events and a few good events. This trend grew worse in middle school where he was in the deepest of his misery in middle school. He had fallen in love only to be heartbroken 2 years later. His relationship with girls was not a happy one. Despite these troubles with his peers, he had formed a decent bond with them in high school. However, he still felt in heart a solitude he feared will never end.

Near the holidays, his brother’s attitude, stubbornness and nonchalance about school finally reached peak with their father. After a good deal of arguing, his brother left home, only to come back because their mom. However, after a good deal of thinking, he decided to join a military school. This was at suggestion of a military teacher who was surveying students at the time. While Diego still keeps in contact with him, he misses his brother. However, he was invited to the boarding school by a family friend, who recently married one of the teachers there. Deciding a change of pace would be best, Diego ended up going to Mrs. Leary’s Boarding School for Boys and Girls. Having told this, Diego forwarded to his friends that they would need to respond my mail.

Monster Guy

Fairy type Trainer
Name: Leonardo "Leo" Silverstone
Gender: Male
Age: 18

Instant Magic Ability: Mesmerization

Lifetime Goal/Dream: To have lots of friends, be loved, and generally just be happy

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: To be alone and hated

Appearance: Leo stands at exactly 6'0". While he does not have bodybuilder proportions, he does have a toned athletic physique that he is quite proud of. Due to living in a tropical place most of his life, and because he often goes outdoors, his skin is lightly tanned. Not pale, but not bronzed either. His face is round, and rather boyish. Marked by large, expressive, blue eyes. These features give him a rather youthful appearance. He has short, close cropped black hair, with messy bangs that cover his forehead, and go to his eyebrows. A strand of hair on top of his head always stands up, no matter how much he tries to comb it down. Except for the top of his head, and eyebrows, the rest of his upper body is void of any hair. (As in, no chest hair, no armpit hair, and he can't grow any facial hair.)

For clothing, Leo generally wears what is comfortable. Usually, whatever he pulls out of his closet that day. It usually includes a pair of jeans or cargo shorts, and sneakers or sandals on his feet. He can often be found without a shirt. This is because he was rather scrawny when he was younger, so now that he's put on a little muscle, he likes to show off the results. When he must wear a shirt, it will usually be a skintight tank top, or something low cut/not buttoned/zipped up all the way, and without a shirt underneath. He's not comfortable wearing cloaks or heavy clothing that covers him up too much. He will dress up for formal occasions and colder days when he needs to, but he usually takes it right off when he's able. He wears a pair of aviator goggles on top of his head. He doesn't use them, he just thinks they look cool. His favorite outfit is a red, form fitting tank top, with a zipper down the front, and a pair of jeans held up by a belt. His sneakers are red and black, and have wheels in the soles. The wheels can pop in and out when Leo puts weight on his heels, allowing them to function like roller skates.

Personality: Leo is a bright, cheerful person with an optimistic view on life. He can often be found with a smile on his face, even when things look bleak. He believes there is some good in everyone, and for that, he is very trusting of others. A genuine nice guy, he is always willing to help someone in need. Often putting the needs of others ahead of his own. Sometimes though, he can be too nice, to the point of gullibility, and people often take advantage of him for it. Leo is very outgoing and social. He likes meeting new people, and making new friends. He is not afraid to strike up a conversation with a random stranger. He is loyal, empathetic, and very protective of those he cares about, making him a good friend to have.

Leo is very energetic. So much so, that it is very difficult for him to sit still and concentrate on one thing for long periods of time. While he is able to think quick on his feet during intense situations. he often acts impulsively, and jumps to conclusions without thinking first. Unlike a lot of guys he's known, Leo is the type of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, (which is funny, because he doesn't usually wear sleeves.) His feelings are there for everyone to see, and he's pretty easy to read. He even cries openly if something upsets that much, and he is affectionate towards close friends. Due to his cheerful nature, it's difficult to anger him. Push him too far however, and he can be quite dangerous. That said, Leo isn't one to hold grudges for very long, and is very quick to forgive people. He has an affinity for cute things, and he's not ashamed of it at all.

History: Leo was born and raised in Miami Florida, the oldest of three siblings, and the only male among the three. His parents' relationship became strained after his father, Lorenzo, lost his job shortly after the youngest daughter was born, and the family started experiencing financial troubles. It was not helped by Lorenzo turning to Wine to drown his sorrows, which worried the rest of the family. Lorenzo and his wife, Layla, often argued loudly during the night. While things never escalated to physical violence, but the yelling still made the three kids uncomfortable. Despite the drama, Leo tried to put on a brave face, and hoped things would work out in the end. They almost did too... Eventually, Layla got a promotion at her job that made up for the loss of income, but by then, the damage was done, and Lorenzo filed for divorce.

Leo currently lives with his mom, and his younger sisters Lilly and Lucy. He is much closer to his mother than with his father. They were not wealthy, but they weren't poor either. Being a single parent, Layla often had to work long hours, leaving Leo responsible for looking after his sisters, and taking care of household things while she worked. Unlike a lot of other boys though, Leo didn't really mind this, and actually enjoyed doing it. As a result of this, he became accustomed to taking care of people. He also learned a lot of domestic skills, and became very good at cooking.

He was a rather scrawny child, and he was often picked on by bullies who thought he was weaker than them. It did not help that he was a sensitive kid, and he had a taste for things that are usually considered girly by others. He would come home with bruises on a regular basis. His father did not help matters by suggesting that living in a house full of girls was turning him into one. While all the bullying upset him, he kept up a cheerful demeanor in front of others, not wanting to burden others with his problems, and if he thinks positively, things will get better.

Around the time Leo entered puberty, things started to change. His mother announced that her office was starting a branch in a new city, and that the family would be moving there. His situation began to improve when he started High School. Deciding that he no longer wanted to be a wimp, and a constant bullying victim, he started working out and getting into Sports, which resulted in him putting on a little muscle, and making new friends. Due to his social personality, he quickly became quite popular on campus, particularly with other girls. He also maintained good grades. Things were actually starting to look up. Despite how well things were going, he didn't let it get to his head. He still remained the same sensitive kid he always was on the inside.

Towards the end of his High School years, Leo was sent off to Mrs. Leary’s Boarding School for Girls and Boys. Apparently, it was the idea of an eccentric aunt he had never heard of before. Leo doesn't have any idea why she would send him here though, but decided to go along with it anyway.

Other: That aunt is a witch herself. The Silverstone family contains a lot of female witches, and Leo is the first male in the family to show any signs of magical ability. So, she sent him to the professor's class for lessons.

1. What’s your favorite color?

You want me to pick one?! But, there are so many nice colors! D8

Red's an awesome color, Gold is pretty too, Orange and Yellow are also bright and cheerful colors, oh, and let's not forget pink! Real men wear pink after all. ;)

2. You see a penny (1 cent) the street, what do you do?

Pick it up, it might be lucky. =D

3. You see Penny (class clown) on the street, what do you do?

Talk to her, of course! She's always fun to be around. ^w^

4. It’s free painting time in art class, what do you paint?

A picture of my family. I need to get a Christmas present for my mom, and parents usually love that kind of thing.

5. Do you think you’ll learn more from the book, or more from the Professor?

The Professor. I always learned more from people than from books.

Reserves are not going to appear on the player list, you are still reserved, I’m just not bothering to put names on there until the sign-up is complete. Don’t worry, there is no player limit.

I think with Food Guy’s Diego being nicknamed DD, there shouldn’t be enough confusion to cause a problem. Out of curiosity, would that be pronounce Dee Dee or Double Dee?

Food Guy (Diego D. aka DD): Accepted. And, the bit about Penny’s dress in hilarious.

Back-story might be an issue. Okay, so yes I’ve heard of schools at sea (and young children in 3rd world countries canoeing to school) but generally schools at sea are for high schoolers and college students and are on motorized ships. I also doubt two 7 year old would be the ones to reef the sails in a storm. I can’t find any evidence to back up the existence of such a school in the USA, and I’d like to keep this RPG as real world as possible outside the magic. So, find evidence or change it to him home schooling on his father’s boat or something.
Also do you have a few typos.
Also do you mean Sprit Contact? If not I need more info.

Le finished!

Name: Evleen Zamunia

Age: 13

Gender: Female

Instant Magic Ability: Wild Speech

Lifetime Goal/Dream: To become a professional football (soccer) player

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: Being alone

Appearance: Evleen always has a wild look about her; her hair is never tamed, always being a long, bushy mane of red hair, and her sharp, chestnut brown eyes are always energetic and intense, as if to show that she is ready for any kind of challenge that is thrown at her. Though her height of 5' 2" might make her seem scrawny to some, her small build and figure hides an immensely athletic girl, who can out-speed people who are double her age with ease, and can throw a good kick that could cripple a grown man. Her tanned, freckled skin and small nose add to her "wild girl" persona, and she is always seen with a cheeky grin on her face.

For clothes, Evleen prefers ones that are loose and allow her to move freely. She harbors a deep hatred for dresses, no matter what kind they are, and when she's not out in the public she prefers to go barefoot. Evleen's favorite outfit consists of: a simple red-and-white striped t-shirt which is sometimes tied at the side when the weather is hot; a pair of baggy grey shorts; black leggings that come down to her mid-thighs which she wear when the weather is colder; and white trainers to wear when she can't go barefoot. She doesn't mind the cold that much, and is fine with going short-sleeved even in the winter. Evleen also has multiples of the same clothes, albeit in different colors, so chances are that you'll see her in basically the same clothes every day.

Personality: Evleen is hyperactive. Very, very hyperactive - she can never stop rushing around everywhere and has extreme difficulty in sitting still and doing quiet tasks. She prefers being out and about in the wild, playing football or taking long walks in nearby forests, and is almost always moving in one way or the other, whether by chatting non-stop or fidgeting constantly or just sprinting. Many people describe her as an explosive bag of energy, which is rather true, since she never seems to run out of energy, ever. She is very impatient, and hates having to wait for things for too long.

However, Evleen has also been viewed as a freak by many people; she is very inattentive and has trouble focusing on things she don't enjoy doing, and she has a habit of ranting on in conversations and letting her emotions run wild and daydreaming very often, becoming lost in her own world, both of which she is aware of. She's very forgetful, often forgetting things she'd been told just a few moments ago, irritating a lot of people who have to work with her. There is also the fact that Evleen has a tendency to fidget with other people's things, annoying them even further. Thanks to this, she has never made any real friends in her lifetime. What no one, including herself, has realized, is that she has ADHD; Evleen has long given up on trying to find out just what is wrong with her.

Evleen, as well as being hyperactive and attention deficit, is an animal lover, and views them as her only friends. She thinks that they can understand her more than humans, as she believes that animals don't have a clear perception of good and evil, and therefore don't think her to be a freak, unlike people. Evleen hates seeing any animal harmed by people, and will go out of her way in order to protect them. Having grown up in a village with a forest nearby, Evleen also has an adventurous side to her - a very adventurous side, in fact - and loves going off into the middle of nowhere to find new locations and animals (much to the dismay of whoever she is under the care of then). She is also daring and fearless, and tackles whatever challenge she faces with boldness and bravery.

History: Evleen doesn't remember much of her early days - the memories she can still recall mostly consist of blurry images of a tall, red-haired man arguing with a blonde lady, men in suits coming to her home, and the words "damned debts". What Evleen does know is that her mother left her father when she was three, and that her father committed suicide soon after, according to the social services.

With no known living relatives of her own, and her mother being untraceable, Evleen had to live in an orphanage, with many other children like her whose parents had either died or abandoned them. She was never exactly bullied, though the occasional teasing and rude comment was not out of the norm, but she was still very unpopular. One day, seeing her all alone, one of the assistants suggested that Evleen try playing football with the boys. The results of this were rather surprising; Evleen discovered that she had a natural talent for playing football, and over time she became a bit more popular with the boys, though not that much. Evleen did still discover her main passion, however; as long as she could still kick a ball around and shoot it into a goal, she knew she would be fine.

At the age of nine, Evleen was relocated to an orphanage in a little village several miles away from the nearest town. It was a drastic change from the urban setting Evleen was used to, but she loved it - the forest, the fields, the corner shops, everything. Everything just seemed to fit into place like pieces of a puzzle, instead of being a confusing jumble of different houses and buildings like it was in the city. She found a new hobby of exploring the nearby forest, as well as getting into trouble in general - it was basically her definition of a perfect home, never mind the fact that she was struggling in every subject at school except for Art, Biology, and English. She didn't care, as long as she could stay here forever.

Of course, her luck didn't last for long, and she was soon relocated again, this time to a boarding school called "Ms. Leary's Boarding School for Girls and Boys". From what she's heard of it, though, it isn't actually that bad - it's quiet and has a sports field... even if she can't go adventuring out into the forest without breaking most, if not all of the rules (which even she isn't that keen on doing), she thinks she'll survive.

Spell Book Selection Quiz:

1. What’s your favorite color?
Uh... Red! I love how it's the colour of fire and stuff. Fiery and bright. I like it.

2. You see a penny (1 cent) the street, what do you do?
I guess I'll just leave it there. There's nothing a penny will do to help me, and I'll probably just forget about it later, I guess.

3. You see Penny (class clown) on the street, what do you do?
Start a public food fight, of course!

4. It’s free painting time in art class, what do you paint?
I'd paint mostly random, abstract stuff. Nothing specific or detailed. Just a load of paint on a sheet of paper that's arranged in a way that can mean something. Or whatever. I like art, though. I love how I can do whatever I like and just express my-- there I go again...

5. Do you think you’ll learn more from the book, or more from the Professor?
I'm not very good at learning, so... neither, really. I suppose it's the Professor I'll learn more from if I have to make a choice, though. I only like reading fiction books.

I am here. Everyone rejoice!

Name: Xavier Owens

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Instant Magic Ability: Telepathy

Lifetime Goal/Dream: Become a scientist; Inventing a virtual reality program

Greatest Fear/Nightmare: Never accomplishing anything in life

Appearance: Xavier stands at 5'8'' with a small and light frame. He isn't one for exercising, so he isn't very big, but thanks to a high metabolism he isn't overweight either, despite the fact that he doesn't exactly eat healthy food. Xavier doesn't spend much time outdoors, so his skin is rather pale. His eyes are dark blue, like a sapphire. His hair is dark brown and semi-long, and is wavy. He has a small amount of chest hair, but he hasn't grown any facial hair yet.

Xavier's pretty much dresses simply, only considering how cold it'll be that day when he chooses his clothes. In warm weather, he'll wear a polo shirt and a pair of shorts. In cold weather, he'll wear a pair of blue jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt, and likely a jacket overneath that. He always wears a pair of white sneakers that look very worn out.

Personality: Xavier is extremely intelligent, and likes to be credited for when he succeeds. Xavier is usually reserved, but he will speak to other people if he want or needs to. Although he generally has no problems with interacting with other people, Xavier tends to try to avoid it regardless. He is extremely bored with life how it is, and wishes the world was like how it is in fantasy or sci-fi novels (or TV shows, games, or any other genre with fantasy and sci-fi in it). He can sometimes by cynical, but he tries not to piss off other people. Although he usually won't be the conversation starter, he often jumps into conversations that he isn't a part of the moment he thinks of something to say to contribute to it.

Xavier tends to think that most people don't understand him, and it's mainly because they probably don't. For one thing, Xavier is a Furry, Brony, AND Bisexual (he's also a major gamer, but that obviously isn't that farfetched). He is embarressed by this usually, and doesn't like speaking about it to other people, unless he feels he can relate to the person he's talking to.

Because of the fact that Xaiver tends to think other people don't understand him, he created a tulpa so he had someone he could talk to who would (If you don't know what a tulpa is, look it up). Xaiver's tupla's name is Arvixe (pronounced ar-vikes). Arvixe looks like Xaiver, but he has lighter colored brown hair that is cut shorter and has crimson red eyes. He is wearing golden knight armor, and carries with him a sword and shield (of course since he is a creation of Xaiver's mind he can't actually use them). Arvixe is generally braver and more open minded than Xaiver, but can be a bit blunt with his opinion about other people. Xaiver talks to Arvixe often, but tries to avoid talking to him when other people are around, since they generally just think he's crazy.

History: Xaiver was born as an only child in Buffalo, New York, but he didn't remember anything about it, do to the fact that he moved from there when he was only 2. His father was a buisnessman, who's company constantly made relocate to different places. Xaiver would move every practically every year, never staying in one place for very long. Due to him never being able to settle down and make permanant friends, Xaivers instead turned his attention towards video games. He first owned a Nintendo 64, but branched into several other consoles since then.

At the age of 12, his mother finally go fed up with his father constantly moving their family, and after a huge fight the two seperated. Xaiver's mother won custody of him, and they moved to New York City, where his mother was from. It was around this time that Xaiver first heard of tulpas, and decided that he should make one himself. By the age of 14, Xaiver still had not made any close friends, and instead spent most of his time playing games or talking to Arvixe. Although he was a straight A student, his mother was scared by her son's reclusive nature. Thinking that the idea of finally settling down and trying to be social in a place like New York City felt like a daunting task to Xaiver, his mother sent him to Mrs. Leary's Boarding School for Girls and Boys to try to give him a fresh start, despite his protests to her decision.

Spell Book Selection Quiz:

1. What’s your favorite color?

Gold. I like it's color and shine. Huh? What? Oh, Arvixe wants me to tell you his favorite color is red. Who is Arvixe? Don't ask.

2. You see a penny (1 cent) the street, what do you do?

Unless I start picking up every penny I see over the course of several years, I really don't think picking it up is worth it, so I'll just ignore it.

3. You see Penny (class clown) on the street, what do you do?

I'd probably say hi, then continue walking. She's pretty annoying anyway.

4. It’s free painting time in art class, what do you paint?

I absolutely suck at painting. But, if I COULD paint, I'd probably paint something from something I like. Like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Well, maybe not that if other people would see it. Team Fortress 2 then, perhaps...?

5. Do you think you’ll learn more from the book, or more from the Professor?

I'm fine with listening, but I'm a pretty fast reader. Honestly I'd learn the same either way, it's just a matter of which one would allow me to learn faster, which in this case, would probably be the book.
