Professor Layton Series

Oh, also, Ch. 6 of MM got me at the end. I'm still progressing through the main story, though.
I know. Even though I was aware that it was coming, it was still very sad. I'm on Chapter 7, and am just about to speak to Henry.

[SPOIL]The loss of the Mask of Chaos makes me want to know even more who the Masked Gentleman is. At the moment, I'm thinking his mask is a fake.[/SPOIL]

Ah Professor Layton, I've only played the first 3 games myself and want to catch up with the other games (Which I undestand to be prequels?). I wasn't so sure about PL move into 3D but it seems to have turned out alrighty. I guess I'll have to pick up The Spectre's Call before I get Miracle Mask.

Be warned though, Spectre's Call isn't as good as the previous three. Miracle Mask makes up for it though... And we get a cheerful ending theme for once!

About the end of Chapter 6...
[spoil]Hershel's eyes as Randall fell to his death really got me. It wasn't tear jerking per se (now if he'd actually cried, then who knows), but it still got me. Those eyes were what made me cry at the end of Lost Future; that + Layton begging Claire to stay + Layton's final kiss with Claire (well, kinda... it was more of a BSOD moment for me) + Layton taking his hat off + the heartrending ending theme + Layton's farewell with Luke = tears^6.[/spoil]

Yeah, there is a noticeable dip in quality with Spectre's Call.

Now I want to play Lost Future again. ;_;

Same here... Especially since it was the first fictional scene that actually made me cry (nope, I didn't cry when your character dies in PMD2, or when all those characters die in Harry Potter, and the such). Lost Future also introduced me to Layton x Claire. I love that pairing.

Are you heartless? But yes I did find that scene very sad aswell, especially Laytons reaction.

I am so mad! Walmart didn’t have MM!
Now I have to wait for Saturday to get another chance.
As to the earlier posts:
I love London life, its mild and the storyline is decent.
I liked all of them especially the endings and the action scenes.
the movie was amazing, but they changed lukes voice.
i'm sure that MM will exceed my expectations.
i love both AA and PL so i love the fact that a crossover is coming.

Hope you figure out that this is one of the biggest advantages of having digital downloads...as in, the game will always be there in the eShop for you to buy it.

EDIT: I have finished the game. Simply put, its puzzles were just a delight to finish, and the plot is pretty good, though a bit better than the Last Specter. I now wish to target all the puzzles I need to finish to open those sweet extras.

I also finished the game. I wasn't expecting it; Chapter 8 is extremely short and I thought there were more to come, aside from the epilogue.

[SPOIL]The ending was pretty good. I loved how Layton outwitted Descole. He really is the new Don Paolo. xD

I was right; Randall turned out to be the Masked Gentlemen. The revelation that the Mask of Chaos and the Mask of Order are one and the same was excellent.

I was very shocked to see a reference to Eternal Diva, especially since it seems it will play a major part in the next game. I want to know about this mysterious guy now. I had never thought about who was under Descole's mask until he took it off. I hope we see Descole's face in Azran Legacies.[/SPOIL]

[spoil]I really liked the ending too. It was just so heartwarming. I don't get how Descole disguised himself as Angela, though. And especially since she was married...

I was a bit surprised too. I thought Eternal Diva had just been a spin-off adventure for Layton and co. That last foreshadowing cutscene was totally awesome... I almost died of laughter when they added bouncy side effects as Descole knocked out those mooks, though. I also don't know whether to love Bronev for having such an awesome voice, punching Descole, and almost taking off his mask (DAMN YOU RAYMOND! *rage*0, or to hate him for punching Descole (yes, yes, I know). I also like PLvsAA a bit less now since it's gonna push Azran Legacies back by a year.[/spoil]

The soundtrack for Miracle Mask is really good, too - I think they really made good use of the 3DS' improved sound technology. I like the Ending Theme, the Opening Theme, the Fierce Chase theme, the Scorpion Casino theme, the Monte d'Or themes, the Ready for Action! theme, the Robot Showdown theme, the live Descole theme, the... well, pretty much every soundtrack in there.

its killing me not to open these spoiler tags.
I might get it on Saturday. (I hope)
And I just started re-playing the last specter.
And I’m just curious how long it usually takes u guys to finish these games.
All the times that I got them were on Saturdays and I had the storyline finished before Monday.
But I think it would take me longer if I got it on a weekday.

[SPOIL]Well, it was a fake marriage; I doubt they got particularly close. I initially thought the same. ;P

If Don Paolo can disguise himself as a little girl, then surely Descole can take on the facade of a woman.[/SPOIL]

The music was great, but I missed the use of Layton's theme. I think it was only featured for a few moments towards the end.

It varies for me. It took six days for me to finish MM, but if I can't restrain myself, as with Lost Future, I can finish the game in two days.

It was interesting to see that Layton learnt his catchphrases from Randall. I also enjoyed the inclusion of his finger-pointing, though it was blindingly obvious that he was going to point at Angela.

[spoil]Yes, but Descole didn't know the true nature of their relationship, according to the Mysteries section... asjgfhsgsfrgkkgdj *brain explodes*

I honestly wasn't expecting Descole to be disguised as Angela out of all people, though. I got really suspicious when she said that she was going to get rid of her pendant, but Descole?[/spoil]

Yeah, I think it was only played in that one cutscene, making it a wasted song. They should have used it in the scene where [spoil]Layton rescues Luke from those ropes. So let's see... Layton is a puzzle-solving master, a renowned archaeologist, a genius detective, an excellent fencer, an excellent pianist, an adept horse-rider, and now he's an acrobat? Isn't that taking it a bit too far?[/spoil]

[SPOIL]Well, I guess Descole just went with the flow. If Henry didn't make any... advances, then I doubt Descole would have. The pendant is what made me question her as well.

I wonder how Descole managed to kidnap Angela, and if she knew about his disguise while she was trapped in the Reunion Inn. At least she got back at him in the end.[/SPOIL]

That would have been cool. I really, really missed that theme.

IMO, Miracle Mask is the best in the series. I'm looking forward to the final game in the prequel trilogy, especially with them building up a possible alliance between
Layton and Descole

[spoil]OHHHHHHH YESSSSSS. That is exactly what I'm hoping for as well, especially since Descole is one of my favourite characters in the series. I really hope he does a Heel Face Turn and eventually helps out Layton, since it seems like Bronev is the main antagonist in the sixth game, not him. Something also tells me that Emmy has actually been an accomplice to the main antagonist of the sixth game all along.

It kinda sucks that I'll be in Year 10 when it comes out, though. So that's a bit depressing. [/spoil]

Oh, by the way, does anyone know the solution to Puzzle 112: A Duck of Tiles in MM? I'm really stuck on that one.

[SPOIL]I also get the feeling that Emmy is not all she appears to be. I was just thinking about how she'll be written out, since she doesn't appear in the first three games. The trailer for Azran Legacies (or Super-Civilisation A Legacies xD) implies that we'll find out who Descole is, too. Yay.[/SPOIL]

Every puzzle has an answer.

I haven't done that one yet, so I'm not looking at the solution. I hope it's all there. I've got eleven more puzzles to hunt down.
