PS3 commercial....the hell was that?

ok, so I was sitting at home, and all of a sudden, BAM
I see a spooky as hell baby, sitting in the middle of a room, crying, then all of a sudden it begins laughing like lucifer himself when he kicks puppies with a spike tipped boot. Close up on the baby's eyes showing quick flashes of explosions and doom... pull out, and there it is....the PS3

HUR HUR USER TITLE
The reference made here is to Stanley Kubrick's movie '2001: A Space Odyssey', which is supposed to signal the evolution of gaming by comparing how the movie had a large black monolith helping speed up the evolution of apes in the movie.

Problem is, most people won't get that reference because they haven't seen the movie.

The only thing that people will see in this commercial is "WTF?"

The commercial is gonna confuse consumers...

Sony always sucked at commercials. Nintendo's commercial is priceless. "Billy! What are you doing?" "Look mom! I'm playing with my Wii!"

That was just disgusting, plain ew. The baby really creep me out. It just spells EVIL in those eyes. Wow, it's just screwed up as those PSP commercials with the squirrel and some animal I forgot what it is saying how awesome the PSP is.

i kinda liked that comm. for the psp.but that coommercial was wierd i've never seen it before .or i've never seen any wii commercials

Yeah, that commerical was bad. >.>;;;; They need to make another one, yep. >.>;;; I must admit though, those PSP commericals with the dustballs and squirells make me laugh a bit.

Well that was on of the stupidest commercials for anything I've ever seen. They're just assuming everyone's seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, and even with an explanation as to how the add parodies that movie, I still want to projectile vomit all over it.

Had they shown footage would, there be a topic about it on this and almost every other gaming related forum on the internet? If a non-gamer were to see the advert on TV they would pay more attention than a short clip of Resistance.

It's caught peoples attention and that's the most they can hope to do, everyone knows Playstation means gaming and so there's no reason to point that out. They did exactly the same thing when the PS2 was launched with the Third place adverts

Hells yeah! Sony needs to stop trying to be so weird and/or hip and just SELL THE DAMN PRODUCT! Seag's classic Dreamcast commercials were funny and made me want a Dreamcast. SquareEnix's commercials are quick and to the point. Sony's PS3 commerical...made me want to go out and buy one of those Hell-on-Earth baby dolls that wets themselves and spews obscenities backwards. And the sad thing is, before they even showed the system, I said "this has gotta be some sort of Sony product."

But in the end, its not the commercial that turned me off, its the price, obviously.
