i'll be buying a psp in a few months most likely march and was wondering what would be a good game to start i don't know to many games but plz don't say grad theft auto

Oddium Wanderus ftw
The psp doesn't prize itself on games which is why the ones on it at the moment aren't outstanding.
It's trying to be more of a gadget with the umd playability so i wouldn't recommend it if your only getting it for games.

Videos to psp?? No idea, i didn't think that could be done. Someone I know had some family guy episodes on his, but i don't know how he got them off the internet.
To be honest i'm not a great psp fan as its horrendously overpriced.

Nah, PSP games aren't all that good. GTA, I haven't played yet (three cheers for delays). They have Medievil:Ressurection, not that good, but vaguely playable. I sorta kinda liked Ghost in the Shell, but the controls are hell. Wipeout Pure is pretty cool. Go with that.

Lumines and Tokobot light my fire. :3
They're both pretty good, so you should check those out if you're into quirky games.

Now of course, if you ARE getting a new PSP, you'll be missing out on the ability to play roms on it, since the new ones have a patch that prevents it.

I'd just go buy a used one, because the PSP is rather dry on good games at the moment. Although when it does get to that status, you should update so you'll be able to play them.

also how do i get my videos loaded onto my psp

You need a USB cable to connect it to your computer. After that, a new removable hard drive will pop up.
After that, download something like a PSP video Manager (google it), and convert the videos to MP4 format so they are playable on the PSP.

For music, just drag-and-drop the files into the music folder of your PSP's removable hard drive (PSP --- MUSIC).

SOCOM is also pretty good (I don't actually have a PSP anymore but I played it this weekend at a friends house) and so is Tokobot. The games I used to own were also pretty fun (Metal Gear Ac!d, Lumines, Twisted Metal) but nothing compared to what DS has right now. If you want a great handheld for games get the DS (this is coming from someone who prefers PS2 over Gamecube and PS1 over N64) it has alot more killer apps than PSP but PSP may have a brighter future if it turns out to be like it's console counterpart (PS2).

Titles I enjoy for the DS (only from what I played)

Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars DS
Meteos
Kirby Canvas Curse
Mario 64
Wario Ware Touched
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (my favorite, but I also want to be a lawyer as an adult so I'll probably like this game more than you, well unless you want to be a lawyer as an adult)

Titles I'm looking foward to on DS

Pokemon Diamond (Pearl is the alternate version but I'll probably prefer Diamond over Pearl like I prefered Ruby over Sapphire, Gold over Silver and Red over Blue)
Metroid Prime: Hunters (hopefully it's better than those demos)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Final Fantasy 3
some Legend of Zelda (non-four swords) game
some Super Smash Bros.
New Super Mario Bros.

all of these except the portable SSB are announced

Titles I enjoy on PSP

SOCOM (from what I played this is the best)
Tokobot
Lumines
Twisted Metal
MGA

Titles I'd (If I hadn't sold PSP, I'm probably not going to rebuy one unless it's games become like high-quality PS2 games (ex: Kingdom Hearts, Shadow of Collosus, God of War, Tekken) which I HIGHLY doubt) be looking foward to on PSP

Some God of War game
Some online tekken game
some ICO/Shadow of Collosus game
Some online Soul Calibur
Some Kingdom Hearts type game
some ratchet and clank game
daxter
MGA 2
Final fantasy 7: crisis core

crap is none of those above titles except daxter, FF7 and MGA 2 are announced, which is why I said "HIGHLY doubt" in the first sentence.

i already have a ds and have had it since launch but i'm really missing some of those nice 3rd party games the psp has i know the ds has more 3rd party support but i really want to see socom, star wars and prince of persia and how are the psp controlls i basicly just want the psp for some nice high powered graphic games and shooters and also because its a portable media player

I havn't really seen any psp games that make me want to buy them. Except for one but yeah it's probably bad. Frogger. The PSP would be a perfect console for me if it only had Rayman.

You have to update your system using an option called "system update."

After that, you select "internet browser" in the menu, and you can activate infrastructure mode to search for a signal. Of course, if you don't have a wireless router or you're not near a Starbucks, you can just say no to that (unless you have a USB cable).

I personally wouldn't do anything to update my PSP right now - ROM Discussion is against the rules -

^My edit: Good Grief. Did you not see that I put "do a google search?" I KNOW we're not supposed to speak of that.
I'm not telling him where to get roms, emulators or anything in relation to that. Plus, if he wanted more help, he could simply PM me for more details, budday. =D

- ROM/Illegal piracy Discussion is against the rules - Someone mentioned games, but nobody mentioned X-Men 2. I like the port on the PSP. It is really awesome. SOCOM is really awesome too, but can be a bit difficult to work with. SOCOM allows for online play with other SOCOM gameplayers. I think it ports across the PS2, because there are several THOUSAND players whenever I log on. There's a lot of good games, but it really depends on your perspective as to which of them are the best. I like the Harry Potter game too. I mainly like the PSP for movies though. I'm on the go a lot and now I can keep up with a lot of them. Got 86 movies already and hoping to get more. Just bought a PSP2TV adapter (3rd party hardware,) so hope to connect to a TV soon and start using a PS2 controller. In System 2.5, Sony added in the software to hookup to something called a LocationFREE player. I hope to get that hardware soon too. It allows you to make your PSP into a Wireless TV. If what I have read is correct, it will allow you to watch your TV from any location in the world that can access your IP address. Lots of goodies coming up for the PSP.)

EDIT: I Did not mention where to get the ROMS or how to access them. All I said was that they exist and if you upgrade your system from 1.5 to anything higher, that you can't use them. Is that what was against the rules? I'm not sure what the issue was about.

Aww... Crap.
Actually people, Volumes 1 and 2, as well as the movie, of Family Guy are out for UMD. The former for a pretty good price from what I saw ($40 for both).

Anyways, before you get a PSP, you may want to wait for an equivelent to "Greatest Hits" to come out, so you aren't spending $50 on a game.

I've only played a few games, but the one that I really enjoyed was Ridge Racer (considering the others were Untold Legends and NFSU:2). Lumines and Tokobot have gotten pretty good reviews too.

Actually all of it's games except for EA's games are $40.00.

I don't think he wanted GTA. It's still a good game just a little too violent and vulgar for a Christian person like me.

BTW PSP is still a good handheld with lots of future potential (despite what I said above).

Why not just get a PVP? You can put normal DVD's onto it, most have around 20x the space of a 1gb memory stick, a bigger screen and in the end it's a hell of a lot cheaper. As there are no games you obviously want just use the DS as a portable games machine
