I have a scar on my right index finger. It's right on the top part, right on that other side of the nail.
When I was like 7ish, I went ice skating in NYC and I fell and some piece of shit asshole ran over my finger. At the time my hands were completely numb so I couldn't feel anything, but as I got up and was walking towards the entrance, the blood was coming through my gloves, and I got scared and was all ;0; MOMMY!!!!!
Then a week or so later on Christmas Eve my nail fell off, EWW. (it grew back don't worry! 8D)

Eh, my early childhood friend had something similar, sortof. She discovered it about the same age, and did it when I was at her house and the two of us with all of her siblings were downstairs watching TV (the rest of us were too busy watching TV to notice her). Erm, I wouldn't think that doing it every second of each night is a good thing. If you get the urge at night to do it, just think of something else to de-rail you from that urge. It's probably harder for people to stop when they started, so if you think it's bad for you to do it so often, then just force yourself to not even do it.
