Ssorry if there is a thread already like this, I don't know, but what is the point of having Pokemon trainers in general? Besides saving the world from threatining crises and holding jobs like police officer, what is their purpose in the society?

It's probably like a sport to most of them. Just as some people play Football or Basketball, they train Pokemon.

Well the world is based on Pokemon, So being a pokemon trainer isnt so much of a Fad. Its more than a sport. Its an activity that comes natural. It is the most common way of Interacting with Pokemon.

I guess some do it for fun, some do it for glory, if they're good enough. XD

NOTHING!! They have no use to society, they're just parasites!
They leech off the money of good, decent, tax-paying citizens!
They should all be, secretly killed, like homeless people!! MUHAHAHAHA!!!

...well, seriously, I would assume that, in how it works and it's role in society, it's closest to some kinda sport. People might pay to watch them, and if you're skilled enough you can make a living doing it. (Now going out on a limb, here) - but because of intense gouvernment subsidizing and investement, pokeballs and pokecenter services are now inexpesive and available to all, so everyone can catch pokemon even if they're not trainers; that's why having pokemon is like a way of life, because everyone can do it and there's nothing else quite like it.

Just like pets.

Sniffer dogs, show animals, hunters, sporting, working and just plain affection.

That's the way I see it.

Pokémon can be used for alot of things.
I think that Pokémon were caught in the past mostly to protect the villages from being attacked by wild Pokémon or to fight wars.
These days, the are caught for battling/sports, for pets, for research, for transportation, but also for protection against all sorts of stuff. Pokémon are partly a replacement for guns.

Trainers are the people who decide to raise the Pokémon they don't eat.

Considering the society has built itself around Pokemon Trainers (Pokecentres, pokemarts, stadiums, gyms, battle towers, etc) I'd say they provide a good deal.

I thought of pokemon training being there to help support the economy. Also pokemon trainers are learning to support and rely on themselves and be responsible. It's a growing up experience.

Well, I'm sorry to say this, but I think the military might want to rely on automatic weapons and bombs rather than a few Pokemon doing "flamethrower" and "Hyperbeam". Let's just say a Pokemon would do a little more then faint if it was shot in the head.... Military use seems kind of stupid.

It's always seemed crazy to me that parents let their ten year old kids become trainers. Being a trainer requires advanced wilderness survival skills between Pokecenters. Also the abudction rate of children would be INCREDIBLE if a bunch of ten year olds were walking around in the middle of the woods..
I suppose the Pokemon world is a sort of Utopian society though. So these kinds of problems IRL might not be applicable.

Well, ten is too young of an age, IMO, but the whole "wander around in the wilderness" thing always seemed ridiculous to me. They should just take the bus. XP That is until they could fly on a Pokemon or get a decent team of level 40+ Pokemon to protect them. Kids wouldn't get kidnapped so often because the abductor wouldn't know if he'd get his brains pummeled out by a bunch of panicked Pokemon or not. Major risk. And it would be adviseable to keep an electric Pokemon out at all times for instant lightning force fields.

But, yeah, it's all for sport. Although, Pokemon handling licenses would also be required for using Pokemon in jobs and such, which would probably be quite common.

I did it!!
I think its for the economy, Sport and also it seems in the anime and in rare cases in the games that the trainers just have the pokemon as friends.

The purpose of trainers are to make money, become famous, and be the #1 Pokemon Master. Pokemon is like money in real life. The more you have, the better you get, and thmore you know how to use it, the more sucessful you will become.

Magneton could use magnetic fields to redirect the bullets to profite savety to your own army.
Steelix, Shuckle and other Steel or Rock Pokémon have a skin so strong that they are able to withstand bullets and other things.
Ninjask are so fast that they can carry bombs and stuff and bring them to the enemy while evading weapons.
Using Sunny Day and Heat Wave at the enemy can create such an intense heat that the opposing army would lose focus, faint or even to make the air vibrate so much that it is impossible to take a clear shot.
Other Pokémon can do almost the same thing, but with things like Sandstorm, Hail or Blizzard.
Dugtrio can dig so deep that they can create earthquakes. Another perfectly fine tactic.
Water Pokémon can put the field under water and then let Electric Pokémon electrecute it.
Strong Psychic Pokémon can perhaps take over the enemies mind, or at least confuse them so much that they can't fight.

As you can see, there are many ways to use Pokémon in a war. And about saying that a bullet kills a Pokémon, it kills humans too.

And also take a look at Cipher. By far the most evil, intelligent, advanced and superior of the orginisations. Their goal was taking over the world. Their method was Shadow Pokémon. No guns, no tanks, just Pokémon.

Well, if we're talking about your regular, run-of-the-mill trainer, I wouldn't say that they have any particular point. I think people just train Pokemon for their own personal reasons. Of course, Pokemon can be used in jobs, but then the person would not really be a trainer to the Pokemon, they would be more like colleagues.
P.S. Sorry, not sorry, at the start of your sentence.
I, not i.
Pokemon, not pokemon.
Besides, not besides, again the start of a sentence.
It's spelt threatening, not threatining.
Crises is the plural of crisis.
I am glad to see the correct use of their.
