Puyo Pop Fever!

I have a couple of questions about this game.
My first question!
I have heard that you can buy Puyo Pop Fever for the DS in the US. However, I have not seen the game on sale in the UK.
Is Puyo Pop Fever DS available to buy in the UK?
My second question!
Is there a way to play Puyo Pop Fever online? I love playing the game and would also love to challenge some human players!:D
Thanks in advance for answering any questions!

I'm a big fan of Puyo Pop as well, so I would also like to know if there was a way to play it on-line.
I think I have seen Puyo Pop Fever DS on sale on an American website somewhere, but I don't remember the website (my bad)!:(

Puyo Pop I heard wasn't so good in sales here in US but in Japan it's mad popular! Ahh the goold old days back when I played Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine till years later discovering it was just Puyo Pop just Sonic sized (Or in this case Robotnik sized).

I have heard that as well, I can't understand why though! Maybe puzzle games (apart from Tetris!;))aren't that popular in the US. I don't know about UK sale figures though!

Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was what got me into Puyo Pop as well!
I have another question now!

2.Is there a way to play Puyo Pop Fever online? I love playing the game and would also love to challenge some human players!
3.How many other Puyo Pop games have been released from then (Dr.R's beans) until Puyo Pop Fever?
Again, thanks in advance for answering any questions! It will be of great use to me!

I'm not sure, but I think there might have been a couple in Japan. I can't really help you here.

MugenKeiji

THERE'S NO $50 HERE!
Arle Nadja all the way...except for her dub voice in Puyo Pop Fever, what's with the speech impediment? "Aith Thtorm!"

I can name the major Puyo Puyo puzzle games that I've played. There were also RPGs, a dancing game and strategy game but I never played them due to the fact that import CD games are ridiculously high.

Puyo Puyo (Famicom/MSX computer)- These were standalone, Carbuncle was in the game but none of the human characters.
Puyo Puyo (Arcade/Mega Drive/Super Famicom/PC-Engine)- This was the first competitive Puyo Puyo game, introduced Jama (Obstacle or Garbage) Puyo, and recurring characters such as Arle Nadja: a magician girl as Carbuncle's owner, Draco Centaur: an ultra vain dragon girl obsessed with challenging other girls in beauty contests and Satan: a flamboyant villain. Among many others to follow up in future games such as Schezo Wedgey, a bumbling swordsman, Seriri a mermaid who wants to make friends but is paranoid of others trying to eat her and Rulue, Arle's main rival.

Puyo Puyo Tsuu [sounds like 2, means 'master'] (Arcade/Mega Drive/Super Famicom)- This Puyo Puyo game had many opponents faced in a Tier system. The opponents you faced were strictly by choice. This was also the first in the series to feature Offsets (countering Jama Puyo by making a chain or chain combo). It also had a 4-player mode. This was the game where the Puyo Puyo theme comes from (when you challenge Arle in Puyo Pop Fever or the Puyo Pop theme in GBA).

Puyo Puyo SUN (Arcade/Saturn/N64/PlayStation)- This is a play on words. The English word for "Sun" is pronounced as "San" meaning the number 3. This game added a bonus "Sun Puyo" that adds to your Jama Puyo in a chain. You play in 3 scenarios representing a different difficulty and different length of play. Draco is easy with a short quest, Arle is normal with a long quest and Schezo is hard with a moderate quest. The story involved the sun being too hot because of Satan.

Puyo Puyon (Dreamcast/PlayStation/N64)- Again, "Yon" means "4" continuing the whole number wordplay. This had much more matured character designs than the last 3 Puyo Puyo games and brought a few more elements into gameplay. Namely the special attack system, by pressing a terciary button (I played the N64 version so it's usually the C buttons, it could be Triangle on PSX and Y on Dreamcast) your character will use a special attack that can anything from cleaning up all the Jama Puyo, changing all the Puyo into a single color or disabling your opponents drops. There was also a buddy system in the story mode, allowing you to change your characters before a Puyo Battle (mostly for their special attacks). I really liked that in the story mode because the funny part is when Seriri joins your group (Arle's like "W-what?! You're coming with us?!" It's priceless...). If you can, try to get the DreamCast version, the load times are better.

Thanks for the info. Imagine if Mean Bean Machine and Puyo Pop had aa game together. Arle and co VS Robotnik and his badniks. That be hilarious if they ever do that again.

Yes, thanks for the info MugenKeiji, that was helpful!
It looks as if Dr.R's beans and Puyo Pop Fever are the only games released in Europe though, as I first thought!
Has anyone here actually played every single puyo pop game and are those contests still running?
Has anyone here actually been in the puyo pop competition? I bet it was a lot of fun!

I finally had a chance to play my copy today and I love it. Not a fan of using the touch pad so I just use the buttons like normal. The touch pad lacks the precision you need when it gets tight. I am not enjoyng the dialog in the story as much as I did with the GBA Puyo Pop (no big fish character that makes the heroine crave sushi), but it is cool with the complete voice acting.

From what I can tell, there is no wi-fi support for it at the moment, but you can do wireless download play with up to 8 friends (I think).

As for getting it in England, I have no idea if it is being released there, but you should be able to import it for a fairly good price now. The price here in the States just dropped from $29 to $19 making it a steal.

It's a shame I already have it for the Gamecube, although the eight player option sounds great!
As for the online play, I was thinking of whether there was another computer program that you can download to challenge people like on Netbattle. I mean, if they can do it for pokedude battles then why not for anything else?:D

I would love to be able to compete in one of those puyo pop contests, but I do not live in Japan! When Puyo Pop is released for the DS with Wi-Fi connection I will not have to worry about that, though.
I have been looking for a program like that as well cartwright. How cool would it be for me to finally kick your butt over the 'net?

Nope, no online play. Not even for the Dreamcast version of the game.

So there are not any computer programs on the internet that are like Netbattle for Puyo Pop?
That's a shame!:( I was kinda looking forward to all the multi-player fun I was going to have.
