oh! thankyou so much! i wanted to know because I've got the opportunity to get one. but i didn't want to get one then find out it didn't work!

10x so much! I think i'll get Pearl in japanese then diamond in english. should help me practice my japanese a bit!

I suppose the english and japanese versions will be compatible with each other then?

The games are not compatible, you need a 3rth generation game and a 4th generation game of the same region. But I'm not sure about EU/US compatibility.
