Question about evolution

I am currently EV training my Staryu. Should I envolve it right now or stop until it has the desired EV's? Thanks in advance.

evolve it now... if you want. no matter what, the stats will be the same at lvl 100.

Yes, evolve it now, the EXP. points to level 100 from Staryu and Starmie are the same.

once it's level 15 and has learned recover, there's no reason not to evolve it. it'll just be able to fight better, so you might as well.

it won't learn any more moves, but all its moves are TMs/HMs anyway, so it's fine.

i've used both sets, with and without recover. recover is more useful than psychic, quite often.

also, if you have access to it, i'd say that petaya berry is better than shell bell.

doesn't really matter, but i would go for evolve it now, unless you want to get some moves from staryu over to starmie

Psychic gets satb though and hits hard, Starmie isnt meant to recover just go in and do way mundo damage.

I've tried both sets as well, and I've found recover to be a lot more usefull. I rarely used psychic, while recover gave starmie the upper edge in many battles. Though starmie's hp is not impressive, it's still better when facing a stubborn poke to heal than to have all attacking moves (plus psychic has only two advantages.)

btw, recover with leftovers can be deadly.

Nice thing about starmie is it can always re-learn the "Recover" move. I used the following starmie as part of my gold battle palace team:

starmie, naive, natural cure, holding brightpowder, flawless sp.atk/speed
- surf
- ice beam
- thunderbolt
- recover

... and i'm agreeing with the majority. Evolve that Staryu. Starmie ducking owns.

It doesn't matter if you evolve it now or later, the stats once it's evolved will be the same. And for the record, Psychic > Recover on Starmie, it's defences are lol.

60/85/85 is far from bad. it can live through an AA from salamence after one DD.

use your best judgement, you can always breed it if you dont like the desired effects the one your currently training has. The thing with these games is that you have all the time in the world. Happy Hunting!
