My friend and I were talking over IM. and I explained the engin of EVs in the new games to her, and how Stat Boost Items dont effect anything once you hit Level100, adn Rare CAndies domt add those EV boosts. Shebrings up the old games, and how apperently, she managed to get stat boosts out of Calciums and the Infinate Rare Candies glitch. Doesn anyone feel like explaining the old gems EV/Stat Boost system to me so I can clearafy this with her?
Me: Once you reach 100 there usless *pokes Espeon* Nad dthen theres the problem of EVs and IVs. Natures in the battle palllace. Besides that, you cant use things liike XATTACK in battle. And things like Carbos boost EVs to a stat you gain after Levle up/
her: ..The onld games didnt do that ._.
Me: it was the same in the old games, the engine for it was just a little diffrent
Her: They sitll worked on level 100's
Me: the cap for EVs in the old games was 200, its somthing like 510 now
Nothing Stops you from using theom on LEvle 100s, they just dont gain stat boosts
iHer: They did in the old one.
Me: no they didnt. You get stat boosrs on Level ups.
me: Serebii.net RSCFRLG Pokédex - EVs
her: I used the rare casndy code with a calcium. It totally boosts their stats >>
me: because it LEVLES THEM UP
her: It was alredy at level 100!
Me: How did you use a rare candy on it then?
her: No, I used the 'rare candy CHEAT' with missingno --; I used it on Calcium, though
Me: You cant use rare candy Cheats to make a level 100 pokemon eat a rare candy! GET THAT, YOUR MAKING IT SOND LIKE YOU FED THE CALCIUMS TO A L100 POKEMON, THEN LEVELD THEM UP
her: No! IT didnt level up! It increased theri stats!

In the old games, you didn't have EV's, but Stat Experience. They are basically the same thing, but with major differences.
I'm assuming that you know how EV's work.

A Pokémon doesn't gain in one single stat by beating the opponent, but in all stats.
In the old games, you had some sort of hidden experience bar, simular to that of the level experience bar. By filling it, you would gain another stat, or something like that.
Each Pokémon gives a set amount of experience in each stat, resembling it's base stats. So a Mewtwo gives more experience in each stat then a Magikarp.
You can raise each stat to the maximum, not just one or two. So you don't have to worry about what Pokémon you're going to beat.
The stat raises are added when growing a level, so you can't raise your stat once level hundred. However, to save memory on the game card, when you store your Pokémon in the PC the game doesn't save it stats but it's stat experience and the stats are recalculated whenever they are removed from the PC. So if a level 100 Pokémon beat the Elite Four and was stored in the PC and taken out again, it's stats would have raised.

It's actually much easier then EV's.

Nooo! I'm too young!
They didn't have EV's at all in those games, only experience points and stat points.
