Question about pickup...

10% chance of getting an item. Pretty low.
Anywho, to get and hold the item, do you have to fight and beat a wild pokemon with that Pokemon that knows pickup? Also, will there be a message telling you that you Pickup-ed the item?

Also, another couple of points, first, you will want to make sure that your Pokémon with the Pickup ability is not holding any items, as it will not be able to pick anything up if it is already holding something. So, make sure to check it after every battle. Also, you must complete a battle if you want to have a chance of obtaining an item via Pickup. If you run away from a wild Pokémon, then your Pokémon will not Pickup anything.

well, only in FR/LG (Hidden Power) and in Emerald (Focus Punch, Rest and Earthquake) (but only if the picker-upper is at certain levels, and even then they're still very rare.)

but since you usually only get 1 of these TMs in the entire game, it's your only chance to get more of them by this method.

I don't know too much about this but i always thought it just had to be in your party when you walk around not when you battle. Also if it is lvl. 100 it picks up rare candies which i think is pretty cool.
