Question about reporting members

Forgive the stupidité of this question, but if you want to report something, namely a member SPAMing or such, do you PM a mod, or do you just wait for the mods to take notice?

There's a report button, an "I" in a white triangle with red borders next to the post number on your post.

It goes to the mods.
